I was stupid to bet against Froome. I thought he wouldn't have great form, but I forgot Spiderbot is always on form.

Gesink looked tremendously horrible, dropping almost instantly. Same goes for Ivan Basso. Of all giro contenders they seem to go nowhere
Froome a beast once again. Spilak at least still there.
Kelderman to lead Blanco in the Giro? |

Gesink 64th. Jeez, that's awful.
Ruben's idea doesn't sound that bad, if I look at this

Gesink must be one of the most overrated riders as the years pass by. Yeah, he crashes a lot, that's true, but even when he doesn't seem affected by an injury, he fails to deliver... As for the race, expected result by Froome, though I'm sure he wasn't expecting such a strong Spilak! |

Missed the stage, but judging by the results: Gesink and Basso No way they'll be able to improve enough for the Giro.
Also pathetic from Kreuziger. Claims that this is one of his goals, but loses 3 minutes.

It's a shame that all this GC contenders did not work all together, they lost a lot of time.
But great victory of Spilak and well done by Froome. |

Kelderman to lead Blanco in the Giro?
Apparantly Gesink has been working for his teammates during the stage.

Appearently Gesink worked for his teammates (kruijswijk/kelderman mainly) during the stage.
don't know why he doesn't want to test himself for the giro.. guess we'll see it there. If he fails there it's over for Gesink as leader of any team imho. Then at least give Kelderman a fair chance |

Amen, Gesink started as a huge talent, but now hes never turned out to be the rider we were expecting. This giro might be his last chance! |

After his big crash he never came back to his old form. |

I wonder when was Gesink working for his Teammates??? Blanco never had to pull of the group since Sky was working almost all the time and some other Blanco riders were attacking too. Gesink was the last 20 km at the back at the Peloton and was one of the first riders to get droped by the favorites, so I dont really know how he was helping Kelderman or Kruijswijk. Its more like a lame excuse IMO for been so bad today. |

There is also a race BEFORe the tv starts. I don't know if you are smart enough to know that. I'm also not sure if you're smart enough that helping can also excist out of getting bottles/food/jackets, keeping people out of the wind... not only riding in front
You don't seem smart to me considering your comment |

So you're saying he sucks so much they put him to work early in the stage?
Gotcha

im saying he probably didn't want to force himself in this weather and chose to prepare himself for the giro by riding for teammates this romandie and taking it easy on the last climb
considering he trained too heavily on the teide anyway. still don't believe in a good giro because he banked too much on it |

You still can't judge the results for the Romandie. They can't be in top shape too early. Basso as an example became just 35 in Romandie GC, the second year he won the Giro.
Jose Rujano, though, will fail one more time. That is the only thing I take as granted after this stage. |

There's a difference between finishing 35th and finishing 72nd. Losing 20 minutes in the mountains in your final preparation race isn't a great sign, if you ask me.

still we'll have to wait for the giro itself to conclude anything though, fair point
i just don't like that way of riding. Gesink f.ex used to be a rider (before his fall) that rode basically every race into the top 10. Now since leg break in 2011 we see him 2/3 times a year in good shape tops. Rest of the year he is horrible and always has some excuse. it's tiring.. i want the old gesink back... |
