Great ride. You say that you were stronger than some more than decent classic riders, but don't forget: You finished above Chavanel! That's surely more than decent
Nice seventh place with Roelandts too

That was a hard race, but seventh for roelandts isn't that bad.

That was a steady race for Stijn. And surprised with the older Sitjn's win. |

Thanks for the many replies and support!
I already said it in Pedro 4 but I think I should say it here too:
I'm having some stuff going down and some darker things going on at the moment and I should really spend less time on the site etc. So I'll be slowing down a lot. I'll still try to follow most stories but I won't be commenting as much. As for this story, I definitely love doing it, and I will be back to it as soon as I can spend more time here and on PCM again, but until then I'm putting this on hold.
Remember, this is NOT over, it still has to reach 100 pages, only it'll take a little longer now, hope that's okay. |

People would expect me to post a Daggen smash picture right now but that would just be disrespectful.
I can't find words of what to say. I'm not disappointed, well a little, but I think it's good that you're taking a break to spend some time outside daily since there's a real world as well.
Take your time on coming back until you know that you've regained your strength. I will follow you in all your decisions since you're the one who knows you the best.

Very sad to hear just as this story was gathering lots of momentum but I'm sure that you'll be back and it'll be better than ever! I hope you manage to sort everything out and don't worry if you don't have that much time to come on here; as sutty said, we all understand

Thanks a lot, people
No, definitely not drugs, I might've expressed myself wrongly, it ain't nothing of that sorts!
Anyway, like I said, this story is definitely not over yet. After all, I still have the rest of my life for this story and others, so what's the rush, anyway?
Until later, when Gent - Wevelgem will be tackled by Stijn! |

Welcome back to our blog! Today was an amazing day, in many ways. Not only did today bring us the last race of the Tour of Catalunya, it also brought us the final TT in the Internatioal Cycling Week and last, but not least, Gent - Wevelgem!
Team News :: Caught between two Schlecks
After a doubtful time for the team, Jurgen Van Den Broeck finally brought in some nice WT points, from the Tour of Catalunya. He finished 2nd in the GC and returned with a Points Jersey, thanks to his consistent top 5 finishes!
GC - Tour of Catalunya

International Cycling Week :: First Victory!
Today I have a reason for celebration. Yesterday I managed a 10th place in a hilly race, only to get my motivation up for today! The final time trial, lasting a bit under 10km, was won by a Belgian neopro, and you're reading his blog!
I'm extremely pleased, thanks to my first professional victory, I moved up to the 18th place in the GC. I never hoped to get my first win so early. Now it's waiting for my first road victory (well, non-TT)! Even though the field was one of the weakest in years, I still go home a very happy man. Figuratively speaking then, as I will remain in Italy for quite some time, now.
TT result

Gent - Wevelgem :: Rain, Pain and so much to Gain
A significantly easier profile than previous years, this year's Gent - Wevelgem only features three cobbled sections. They are not to be underestimated, but the possibility of a group sprint is very real.
Notable absence of today is Tom Boonen. He's at home, ill. Let's hope he's not out for too long.
Sieberg was the man to get in the breakaway today, and he did a great job. It took some pressure of and the race had begun.
Nothing happened for a long time, until the cobbled hill, when the split was made. The bad news was that I tried so desperately to hang on, but missed the strength, that I got caught in between.
I got my act together and decided to chase the first group instead of waiting for the group including Cavendish
After some tough couple of minutes, I'd reached them. The second cobbled hill (well, actually the same, but a second time) was nearing and I knew I had to do better than last time.
But I hadn't. Roelandts was left behind and I got stuck even further behind after launching him into the chase. I waited for company and clung to the wheels of EBH!
Nearing the finish, it turned out Roelandts had also blown his legs. He managed to recover just a little bit and I would launch him for the sprint. Unfortunately it was only for the 16th place.
Meanwhile, Sagan sprinted a tactical masterpiece and took the victory in front of Cancellara and Ballan. Tough luck for Spartacus and the Italian Stallion, but the young talent is starting to make his way up in the world.
I cleared the way for Roelandts
And luckily, he finished it with a clean, strong sprint. I finish 19th, which is still absolutely noteworthy in my debut year. I could be worse off.

What can I say? I've raced a pretty good race, I did my best and that's all I can do. These races are really opening my eyes, and I'm starting to see what I need to develop in order to become a great Classics Rider myself one day.
The next race will change my life forever, my first Ronde Van Vlaanderen. I'm so excited I made the selection, and I hope I won't let the management down. Until then,
Stijn

Yay, great racing of Willy, even though the TT line-up was very weak...
Also a great job for Stijn
