Great sprint by Siskevicius! The sponsors have to be ecstatic by now with 2 wins so close to each other Grin

Thanks all. I was lucky with the daily form, but it's still always nice to win. Smile

After a number of intensive laps on the finishing circuit, with several unsuccessful attacks, we decide to play out one of our two cards on the final lap's main climb.

In other words, Perichon takes off, with Curacao champion Marc De Maar for company. The pace in the field is very high though, with plenty of teams trying to set things up for a sprint finish.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_02_04.jpg

The attack has such strong force that De Maar gets blown off the wheel almost straight away. While entering the final two kilometers, Perichon leads a small chasing group by twenty seconds, with the peloton just behind.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_02_05.jpg

In the not very steep, but still difficult drag up to the finish line, Julien El Fares shoots clear, closing the gap very quickly. Siskevicius marks the acceleration, but doesn't quite have the kick to jump onto the wheel.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_02_06.jpg

El Fares jumps up alongside Perichon once the road pans out in the final turn. The question is - does he have anything left after the hard chase?

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_02_07.jpg

Just about enough. Jeremy Roy came up with tremendous strength in the very last meters, but misses out by a slim margin. Siskevicius also came back with good speed in the end, to finish third. Perichon was dead in the end, but still managed to hang on to a fifth place, beaten also by Rudiger Selig.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_03_03.jpg

After an incredibly messy race on narrow roads in terrible weather, we take control of things inside of fifteen kilometers to go. Paillot is the man in charge, keeping Perichon and Siskevicius out of trouble.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_03_04.jpg

Paillot can only keep up for a short while unfortunately, and Perichon soon has to take over. At once, the field stretches out to a very long line and snaps at several spots, reducing the main field to a very small group.

Luckily for us, no other team decides to challenge, leaving Siskevicius in a perfect position for the final sprint. Saur duo Jean-Lou Paiani and Arnaud Coyot follows just behind, with pre-race favourite Lloyd Mondory nearby as well.

And to add further chaos to the battle for positions a few wheels back, Marco Marcato takes a tumble in a roundabout, holding up an additional number of riders. Talk about a messy finish!

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_03_05.jpg

Mondory can't stay calm for long, and launches his sprint kind of early. Siskevicius quickly jumps onto the Frenchman's wheel, whilst Latvian champion Aleksejs Saramotins shows up on the other side of the road.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_03_06.jpg

Saramotins can't keep up once they hit the final section of cobbles at the kilometer to go mark. Mondory keeps digging on from the front, with Siskevicius fighting just to stay on the wheel in the brutal finale.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_03_07.png

Not even a crash in a group of lapped riders in the final meters of the race can stop Mondory! Nobody is able to strike back at the AG2R man, who can celebrate victory in the middle of more chaos.

Siskevicius also manages to zig-zag his way through the crash victims to cross the line in second place, simply unable to match Mondory's strength. Third place goes to Europcar's youngster Angelo Tulik.

Siskevicius really is one fire at the moment.
Just like with Skil you do more than possible out of smaller teams. Grin

Evaldas! What a rider. Too bad about that strong Mondory.

I just read a big part of this story and I have to say: Pelli, you are doing an amazing job. This is just as good as your Skil story. Maybe even better!

Thanks a lot. Nice to hear that you like it, lokytrew. Smile

I'll try to speed things up a bit during the upcoming week. I'm free from school, so I'll have much more time for PCM than usual.

On the other hand, I found my old PCM08 yesterday, and have been playing basically non stop since. The gameplay was so awesome back in those days!

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_04.png

We've travelled to the Netherlands for one of the flatter races on the calendar. Surely nothing can prevent a mass sprint finish here?

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_04_03.jpg

Argos tries out a very strange tactic in the final five kilometres of the race. Instead of setting up a train for their sprinter and the race's big favourite, Tom Veelers, they send Roy Curvers up the road!

Possibly not a stupid move after all though, as the Dutchman gains around half a minute in just a short bit of time. No organized chase either.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_04_04.jpg

Since no other team seems to have the strength or intention to shut down Curvers, we order Perichon to set up Siskevicius. None of the big names are seen towards the front, perhaps all caught off guard by Argos' tactic?

Instead there are a few younger, less known names in contention. Endura with a small leadout for Scott Thwaites, alongside the likes of Dylan Van Baarle and Lithuanian champion Gediminas Bagdonas.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_04_05.jpg

After a dumb moment of distraction from us, Siskevicius gets boxed in just as the other sprinters fly past with Van Baarle and Niels Wytinck leading the hunt.

Veelers suddenly shows up, just as Curvers gets swallowed inside the final kilometer. One of the season's most victorious men, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, also moves into a top position.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_04_06.png

Veelers was clearly toying with the rest earlier tho. As soon as he realizes that Curvers isn't going to make it, he launches a rocket sprint and wins by a dominant margin. Behind, Niels Wytinck pulls off an impressive second place.

And unbelievably, Siskevicius makes it back from his horrible position - to finish third! Those who made an early jump really faded towards the end, allowing him to move up through the field. A good day, after all!

Another day in the Netherlands, without any actual difference from the previous one. It can hardly get any flatter than this.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_05_03.jpg

Continuing the successful trend from the recent few races, we set up a little train for Siskevicius in the final kilometers. A stronger train than previously however, with Martinez taking Perichon's place as last leadout.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_05_04.jpg

The aformentioned Martinez kicks off at two kilometres out, setting things up for Siskevicius. Unfortunately a very strong competitor nearby, in the shape of yesterday's winner, Tom Veelers.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_05_05.jpg

As expected, Veelers takes off at the Flamme Rouge. Siskevicius tries his best to keep up with the incredibly quick Dutchman, whilst Leopard's Eugenio Alafaci also joins the fight for glory.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/aprilclassics_05_06.png

Veelers is once again unstoppable, however! In the very last metres, Benjamin Verraes comes up with twice everyone else's speed, but the line arrives a little too early for him. A very strong result from the youngster regardless.

Siskevicius meanwhile rounds off five solid races with another podium place, by hanging on to third place in a photofinish against a speedy finisher, Nikias Arndt. Next up for us - Tour de Bretagne!
