So the draft is starting tomorrow or the day after, meaning I need your signups in the next 24 hours for those who still want to play.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

So, congrats on the W to the W I guess Maybe Ollfardh has a chance as well - so far, the advantage to pick early in R2 and R4 was so important that only the last (Nemo, 2022) and 2nd last (jaxika, 2023) teams could win the game.
Therefore, not happy with my draft position - but I did have a good one last year that I was unable to convert into a good result, so let's do the opposite this time - medicore position, good result
Thanks for running the game again, looking forward to the draft

There have been some changes to the draft compared to last year, in the hopes of making things more balanced. There will also be a small calendar change and possibly a small change in point scales. All will be finalised before the actual start of the draft of course.

Draft starts!
With this message, the points and calendar are finalised. There are some small changes, so make sure to check out the first post again. We will start the draft with the draft order posted above. This means every odd round will start with the Macros and end with the W. Every even round will start with the W and end with the Macros. For now.
I now need you to send me a PM with 3 lists of names for the first three rounds. Make it clear which list is for which round. Also make sure you have enough names for each round, especially the ones where you're a bit lower on the draft list.
R1: A rider who has never won a monument
R2: Any rider with a World Championship medal, any category or discipline
R3: A rider from your home nation
I hope everyone can send these in by monday 12u00 normal europe time
Please make your list in the following format, this will make my job a lot easier:
MERCKX Eddy
INDURAIN Miguel
HINAULT Bernard
ANQUETIL Jacques
The next round will be:
Spoiler R4: A rider born 01/01/2001 or later
R5: A rider with a GT Stage win
R6: A rider from a country bordering your home nation (pick only one country)

Fun fact, R1 didn't get any eligibility changes compared to last season. Try to impress me for R2! Round 3 we all got outplayed again by a certain someone with the same strategy as last year.
Signups still open by the way, so make sure your lists have some reserve names in case someone cuts in.

Every year I seem to forget that I'm handicapping myself for no reason by picking an American team

Well last pick seems good, puts some pressure on. I considered the Slovenia play but assumed you would change the round rules (only my second year - so that is my excuse).

The Slovenia play isn't nearly as strong this year, I wouldn't worry too much about that tbh. Denmark unfortunately likely also isn't a great choice

Draft Rounds 1-3
The same names kept coming back in Round 1. Someone forgot Mohoric had won San Remo already and somehow the W got their first choice, while others had to settle for someone outside their top 5.
Round 2 gave mostly expected names. To be fair, up until this point I didn't realise why Plan Slovenia wouldn't work this year, but Pogacar finally won a bronze medal last year. Shoutout to those who found some obscure track medals!
Round 3 was easy for some, hard for others. The Rogues suffered from 3 Belgian teams and had to settle for something very low on their list.
Macros | Hornets | Racoons | Cobblers | Fainthearts | Zondagcoureurs | Bombers | Red Lanterns | Hussars | 59'ers | Ice Tulips | Spokes | Rogues | W | LAPORTE Christophe | DE LIE Arnaud | PEDERSEN Mads | PHILIPSEN Jasper | KOOIJ Olav | PIDCOCK Thomas | VERMEERSCH Florian | KUNG Stefan | SKJELMOSE Mattias | MADOUAS Valentin | WOODS Michael | HEALY Ben | BENOOT Tiesj | GIRMAY Biniam | THIJSSEN Gerben | DEMARE Arnaud | VAN BAARLE Dylan | HIRSCHI Marc | WELSFORD Sam | STUYVEN Jasper | ALAPHILIPPE Julian | GANNAÂ Filippo | ROGLIC Primoz | EVENEPOEL Remco | POGACAR Tadej | MOHORIC Matej | VAN AERT Wout | VAN DER POEL Mathieu | MARTIN Guillaume | MERLIER Tim | VAN POPPEL Danny | WRIGHT Fred | SCHMID Mauro | WELLENS Tim | POWLESS Neilson | TRATNIK Jan | DEGENKOLB John | KRAGH ANDERSEN Soren | TEUNISSEN Mike | JORGENSON Matteo | TEUNS Dylan | BAGIOLI Andrea |
I hope I didn't make mistakes yet, but let me know if I did. For the next round, I will need:
R4: A rider born 01/01/2001 or later
R5: A rider with a GT Stage win
R6: A rider from a country bordering your home nation (pick only one country)
Please send everything in by Friday noon 12h00 CET. As before, make sure there are enough names on the list (it already got close for some). Please also use the correct format from my post above as that helps me a lot. Thanks to those who already did it!
After that, there will be 4 draft rounds:
Spoiler R7: A rider from a PCT team
R8: A rider who was in a PCT team last year
R9: A rider from your home nation or a country bordering it (pick only one country)
R10: Free pick

Imagine forgetting that Mohoric won a monument already. Not very smart of that guy, but to save him from public embarassment you should indeed not make his name known to everyone.
In general for us not the names we'd love most, but that's what you get for being in the middle of the pack. One thing is for certain, we need our three riders so far to improve on their results of last year. Also I don't feel bad for the Rogues having to settle for someone low on their Belgian list with WVA already on the team

Man, I just forgot about Bini! I only checked last year's result, for the most part, where he didn't perform. I really hope he does well this year, and if he does, him plus Van der Poel could be an incredible duo here. I'm happy with the riders I got, though slightly unfortunate to be just out of reach of the Top 4 in Round 2. Not sure how great of a return we'll get in the upcoming rounds, though, but we'll see

Very happy with Pedersen and Van Baarle. Surprised Kooij went in the first round. I was hoping he would be my third round pick. Let's see how Van Poppel does, maybe I should have put Teunissen in front of him, but he didn't look very convincing last year either.

Ugh why did that one time Pogacar beat Pedersen at a sprint have to be at the world championships. A shame that all the superstar Slovenians were already gone in round 3. I guess this time I gave myself a handicap with my nationality choice.
Küng, Ganna and Tratnik is still an okay outcome. |
