Congrats red, awesome win! And to Valv as well. Kino not great so far this season so good to see him make a statement like that.
Pretty anonymous start, nothing wrong with that. Rohendi doing his thing with Dunbar right at the front is good to see considering neither have much of a kick so hopeful that means he’s gonna be considered a GC rider here.
Thanks for the reports UU

We're pretty much bystanders at this point since my riders aren't really treated as favourites. So to keep the top spots in GC and score those points is all I can ask for.
It would be awesome if we could carry those GC positions into the ITT, fingers crossed!

Kalaba was a longshot for this stage anyway. Stuyven gone for the GC (thank god) so hopefully the AI will throw everything behind Dennis now.

Very, very passive, but no disasters.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

A surprise showing from Conci to be up there in 6th, clearly had a bit of energy left. Not too great to see Rein so far down in the group but it wasn’t the stage for him and he lost no time so we’ll take it.
More interestingly, Cosnefroy managed to stay with the lead group which puts him in a really strong position going into the TT.

Phew! About as perfect of a stage as we could have asked for. Guldhammer and Jensen both score stage points in the top 5, and Kamna stayed in the front group. I was keeping a close eye on #96 the whole time to see if he would be sacrificed, but both he and Guldhammer stayed calm and attentive the whole time. Eg played a big role there too in staying at the front and keeping things together. And ultimately he stayed in the front group too, which could be nice if he puts in a good TT. Very happy with this one, now we need to repeat it tomorrow before the TT shakes things up for real.
Huge congrats to Valv on the 1-2! Sending Kinoshita here required performances like this, and so far you got what you needed.

Well, looks like I was faaaar to optimistic when sending Aregger here
We had 3 riders up front, which is good. Obviously Moscon is never going to take a notable result on a flat finish like that, Basso would've been a far better option. But it looks like he worked a lot, so holding on was already a great performance.
Most importantly, Masnada was safe in the pack; let's see what we can do tomorrow.
Thanks for the report, and congrats to Valverde on a great 1-2 here!

Another great stage for us. Everyone's through safe, and Guldhammer is still flexing his above average sprinting ability after decline to snag another top 5. Loved the aggression from Jensen too. He doesn't have a great flat sprint, so trying to attack with a few other puncheurs was definitely the right move. Didn't work out, but was worth the effort. Want to limit wasted race days.
Now it's time for the big day that will shape our strategy and the GC outlook going forward. I hope Kamna can perform better than Hong Kong and prove he's a worthy time trialist at this level. At the same times, I'll definitely take a Hong Kong-esque TT for Guldhammer (and Jensen). For him it's about limiting losses.

Bit of a nothing stage from us but all of our riders were on the right side of the split which is more important.
Big chances tomorrow now. Taaramae (77TT), Conci (77TT) and Cosnefroy (78TT) currently 10th, 11th, 12th could be eyeing up a stage win and all be potential candidates to fight for the podium or even the win.
Let’s see what happens! Looking forward to the report

I mean there was nothing to be done about losing the race lead, even though I was quietly hoping we could take some leader bonus into the TT.
Far more disappointing is Roman losing over a minute. He's my best 'puncheur' here, but given he can't TT he's now probably gone as a viable GC option. Gotta hope Pogacar and Boris are good for the rest of the way, otherwise this race will peter out quickly after a great start.

Big brain to bring Kalaba here. What a power!
Tomorrow is the big day for Dennis, don't let me down!

Two solid days from Craddock means he's well positioned before the TT. Of he can have a good day he will be in good stead to just try and hold on for last couple of days .
Obviously we have a few TT options but based on the favourites list in the preview a Srage win seems out of the question.
Great reports so far, still wide open

I was rather expecting this kind of result from Aregger on stage 2, but I'll obviously take it anytime
No shame losing out to Kalaba, even without traffic I'm not sure he'd have been able to compete for the win. But as UU said in the report, it's exactly for those kind of stages that I keep sending him to those races instead of flat classics ^^
Good to see Masnada safe in the pack, now let's see what he can do in the second half of the race. Moscon will clearly drop out of GC contention tomorrow, while Basso will likely be our #2 after stage 4.
Congrats to Marco on the stage win, and thanks for the report!

We're hanging in, but barely. Out of the 4 riders in the top group Robov is the odd one out and would be certainly out of contention, while Brändle is our best TT races, but given how things ended up Hong Kong, I don't have high hopes. De Luna and Jacobsen are decent TT'ers, but don't think they'll be a GC factor anyway.
Congrats to Marco for the stage win, as well as to UU for the report

Not exactly the best possible outcome, looks like Dennis went in way too hot. It's not the end of the world as I'm sure he'll hold on to a good GC position

I was kinda disappointed with stage 2, because though Pacher had a great ride, Rodriguez was very far in a route that should suit him. But it seems it was the right strategy, as he had a fantastic ride on stage 3. Hope he'll be able to hold on the mountain jersey, and if the pack does accept it, to fight for a breakaway win.
Pacher looks like he has a really good form too.
Thanks for the great reports Ulrich! |

That's 4 disappointing stages from Oomen so far. At least we need to attack now.

Not looking good this. Edvald clinging on for his life to his 51th place
The next stage will be decisive, a victory and a huge gap down to all those stupid TT-ers would make my day |
