Looks like Alarcon is determined to make this race hard on himself. Lost time yesterday and barely finished in the group today.

Unfortunate to not be near the front with Ballerini (or other riders) when the sprint started, but it was never a stage where we could expect a result.
And now with only the MTT and a slightly more difficult hilly stage left regarding the GC, I'm very curious to see how the GC plays out here. Who will lead after the MTT? How much does the TT stat play a part there? |

Alarcon wets the bed, but I kinda expected it.
Nice to see Quintana doing well

Warchol doing well thank all the gods! Hopefully he can keep it up tomorrow and aim for a podium.
Congrats Fab! Quintana turning it around a little the last few races.
Thanks for the report!

Loved to see that! Brilliant to have Amezawa free and really going for it Thought he had no chance when we got the first picture with Padun really close, but he had timed it to perfection, giving us something to remember from the long trip to Japan. Very, very happy with this win, as now both him and Anderberg have won this season, which feels really good after bringing them in as lvl 1 riders |

Either some hilly stages suit Alarcon a whole lot more than others, or his unbalanced stats make him perform very random. Either way seems like that was good Alarcon yesterday.
Looks like he was well supported by Vysna and Zordan had a good day in the breakaway. So a good all round performance by the team
Hopefully everyone stays safe on the final stage.

Got to say we've had a great race here, Carthy performed to expectations as he should finish on the podium after a good TT up Mt. Fuji. But I have to say, Tim Kennaugh may well be having the season of his life putting up some great results also and he should finish 9th to add another rider on the top 10, which this race not being a TT race is certainly a surprise!

The knitting club at the local retirement home would have put on a better performance with the one good kneecap they have between them in comparison to what these 8 riders have done here. We’re done. Ta-ta, farewell.

What a debacle from Keough. He comes from the prologue and is terrible, ok maybe a little too long. Stage 2 flat classified, he isn't even close, maybe too many hills. But this last stage, no excuses and he is clearly the 4th or 5th best sprinter, the sort of situation that has yielded rich rewards for other CT sprinters - and he doesn't even try. With the whole team there to support him. At least my development riders were getting experience because otherwise that was a total waste of race days.
The truth is I have never liked him and I think he knows it.

We hit our points target in the end. Thanks to a few minor GC pts from Zordan and Vysna and another race with U25 points to supplement what Alarcon did.
Thanks for the reports LLS

Great stage win from Amezawa and a very surprising prologue result from Ngandamba, that's what we take from this race. It's more than nothing, and when the MTT came with such gaps, it was difficult for us to do better than 10th in the GC.
Thank you for the reports, LLS! |

Nice to see all my former riders doing so well here...
A top 5 and the Points classification isn't too shabby though.
Thanks for the reports.

Wait, did that really happen? Did Nairo just win this race? Can't believe it...
Obviously I had some hopes for a podium pre-season, given that I thought the MTT would suit him - and it definitely did! Stage win, GC win, KoM, 2nd in points, win the Team standings - definitely the most outstanding race since I joined! That must be a massive points haul for a C1 race, and it should compensate for some less successful races.
But yeah, it's also a race that makes me think "what if" and "why"... So far, Nairo has done really well in MTTs, and also got pretty solid results in flat TTs - but he often failed in "normal" mountain stages. Well, let's hope he can keep up the good run now!
Thanks for the congrats, and thanks for the reports!
