Our fight to avoid relegation is getting ever more desperate. Ewan has to turn up here with a result, so i imagine there'll be a late attack again and he'll not even sprint in the main group.
AKA, Silvestre, Halvorsen, we know which tier-2 sprinters the AI loves and they are my picks to win in a sprint.
Got the late attack right, and Ewan messing up his sprint behind. Results like this are why we are very doomed at this stage in the season as Ewan is rapidly running out of race days. I think he might even end the year outside the Top35 riders.
(But at least we knew this coming into the year and the team is designed as one ready for the CT)
It's interesting to look at the results and see how, when the lead-outs don't work and the peloton is just riding hard to catch a late attack, the top sprinters rise towards the top of the results.
Silvestre i can't explain fully vs a Bonifazio, or why Vesley struggles more than Nizzolo. I think these, & as an explainer for Reinhardt, is just positioning at the right moment which is where we hit the AI dice rolling.
At least for Vesley i'd put forward he's hurting more due to his relative lack of RES & FL vs Saber & Manninen. This puts him at a disadvantage for the AI not being seen as a Top Tier challenger. Then those stat issues also bump him down in the Tier 2 sprinters.
Now at least we can actually make changes to the Wage and OVL calculations to adapt to this. It would be fiddly as it would need to be designed relative to the division these sprinters were in. And i'm still in favour of a greater levelling of the sprinter wages overall, more so that we saw last year. Because without making radical DB changes to impact inflation (and it's clear this is not going to happen) making the Wages & OVL changes is all we can do to rectify this fundamental AI issues.
I am spending a little too much time trying to analyse Sprints...

Err... anyway, that was still a fun race to read! And a well deserved aggressive winner

I'll very happily take a third place, even though it could have been a win. Great to see Manninen actually competing again. Some minor points added by Quispe and Ruiz are also nice to see. Congratulations to Assa Abloy and thanks for an enjoyable report, LLS. Conmiserations to the sprinter teams that once again didn't perform.

Congratulations, Sykkel_Freak!
And what a result that is for us too. Yzeiraj doing exactly what I hoped for with our lineup here, and we have more similar lineups in flat races. Happy to see us, in this case Yzeiraj, try something late, and even getting a result from it is brilliant. It puts us «back on track» after the difficult GP Wallonie Kwiatkowski and we had.
Enjoyed the report. Definitely tense towards the end where it felt like it could go either way, late attackers vs. the sprinters. |

Haller 17th - just good enough to avoid the "basement treatment" but no sign of any support even when he was a long way back.
Kraftwerk had a man in the break so should have been able to save energy and form a train.
Sprints are hopelessly random with this AI/DB combo.
Congrats to Sykkel_Freak for the lottery win and to LLS for an entertaining report.

AKA had his "bad day" here I guess. Not ideal to happen in an HC classic after he just stormed through his pointless wildcard days, but that's the luck of the draw. 15th is still around a bunch of other similar quality sprinters given the messy finish, but yeah, we lost pace in the standings here for sure.
That's four years in a row a late attacker wins this race, so clearly that's the meta to prepare for next year. Gotta stock up on rouleurs. Congrats to Sykkel!

I expected nothing yet I’m still disappointed. I look forward to paying Howard the equivalent of a pie and coke for next season.
Congrats SF, and thanks for the report.

Guess 11th is par for the course for TVA but one always hopes for better.

10th from Reinhardt is not great, but definitely not bad, either. Still waiting to see him come out on top of the lottery, but well...
No further Top30 after having worked all day long is bad, but perfectly reflects our season. Let's see if we can once sneak into those random spots behind the sprinters.
Still strange to see a 4th successful late attack in a row, given that the profile is really not hard, but at least there's some rare consistency in PCM. Congrats, Sykkel!
And thanks for the report, was pretty nice to read except for the final few kilometers

Funny how Havik turned out to be almost our worst rider of the day; Interesting race with that final attack taking the win. Kudos to the victors and thanks for a thrilling report again LLS!

I take those few random points from Kwok happily, eventhough it could have been even better.
Thanks for the report.
