Seems like having a favourite sprinter and no lead out sprinters is a bad combination
Having a favorite sprinter and having a good lead out sprinter to me seems equally bad

Good to see Gabriel Marin active on this stage. And I can confirm that we had to prevent things from escalating between him and James Oram.

Beukeboom tried, but couldn't get in the break. That's life Congratulations to Keough and McCormick on a very close sprint win! Thanks for the detailed report

Thanks for a great report! Honestly thought it was going to end way worse when I saw that it was Gaspar leading out Vingerling. Really happy with second to someone who's essentially a draft pick.

Really nice and exciting report, thank you liefwarrior!
Ranneries 5th was better than expected.
2nd in team rankings certainly better than expected
Things will look worse when going into the mountains, but so far a very positive experience here in Venezuela |

What an insane preview!
The sprint played out similarly to other ones we have seen already. Getting a leadout seems to be a death sentence way too often. |

Great opener for us! Breakaway was always the only option, and Vabo did his job to get an intermediate sprint. Now he gets a day in the white jersey and 3rd overall! Not bad for a stagiare who barely got a contract.
Congrats to Keough and also nice to see Ranneries in the top 5.

Thanks for the great report. Nice to get our first win of the year out of the way.
Have a reasonably competent lead out here but happy for them to stay out of it. Felt Kough's position always looked good, even with the interference. And he had just enough left to finish.
I believe the favored sprinters changes more in PCM20 so we might see different teams on the front. Ahlstrand's second in Qatar proved a lead out doesn't need to be a death sentence but not sure what's the key to success.

Woo hoo ! Thanks for the report can't see the images but it's probably just my phone.
Bennett didn't win a stage until the last day of Tour of America so it's a good sign for the season. It sounded like a chaotic finish !

The only time Coquard had a proper leadout it worked out reasonably well also (Tour of Tasmania). I know he shouldn't have been awarded the win, but the 3rd place, but still a reasonable train-result.
But more often than not the sprint trains mess it up.

Once again a very enjoyable sprint report by liefwarrior. Well, except for the people with a sprinting favourite of course, but blame that on the AI Happy to see my guy Knotten in the break, and I'm sure hillis liked that as well
Congratulations to Glanbia, great victory by Bennett! And you didn't have to wait too long for it this season

3(!!!) guys in the breakaway. Basically exactly what I wanted from this race. All the young guns are out looking for screen time, and they're getting it.
Vabo did everything he could to stay in white, but even with two teammates, Leknessund was just too strong. Fairplay to him and Red Bull.
Congrats to Glanbia on Bennett's win! Also promising to see Keough still sprinted to 2nd despite being in yellow.

Big congrats to Glanbia, nice sprint victory!
We were quite a bit more anonymous on todays stage, but still enjoyed the wonderful report from liefwarrior, thank you! |

Darn close to two in a row but Glanbia did the work, can't begrudge them the win. Congrats to Mac and Bennet.
GC bug shouldn't impact this race as the mountains mean the sprinters aren't GC riders, so not surprised by this. Am a bit surprised that Keough has been good two in a row.

Now that's a leadout well done Crabbe. Happy to see Bennett consistently sprinting consistently. It might not be perfect but sprinting definitely not so random this year

Not the best results for Marin, but although I dreamed of a stage win on the flat stages there's nothing worrisome about it. The fight for the main objective is just about to start and it is there where our hopes lie. Fingers crossed I'll not end up bitterly disappointed again.
Thank you for the excellent reports!
