Go go VDS! Probably his best race of the season so far. If he puts in a decent ride on the last stage, this would be a good way to round out his season as a leader.

Thanks for the report jph Smile Krieger putting in a repeat of 2017!

Guillén did better than during the previous stages, but a seventh place and fifteenth in GC barely gives any points I'm afraid. Tryg jumping over P:A in the rankings, which means a seventh place should be the highest place possible for us. Once again not too good news, I hope Guillén has one last amazing performance in his legs for us tonight/tomorrow. Thanks for the report, jph!

I guess Redecker and Habtom are just too slow to do anything in a regular sprint. Lesson learned for next year, that's for sure Grin Hopefully we'll continue to participate in the breakaways, maybe snatch that KoM jersey tomorrow?

Unfortunately, I can only repeat myself. We need something extraordinary to score any points from this. Pity that Mugisha lost time and couldn't hang on to that third spot in the U25 ranking, would have at least been 1 point, iirc.

Stage 2:
Great work once again, perfect sprint preparation. AKA was too strong this time, I can live with that. Taking yellow is great on one side, but... c.f. below.

Stage 3:
Call it yellow jersey curse, or GC favorite curse, or whatever you want - it sucks! But why complain, we all know it the leader mostly doesn't sprint...
The only good thing was actually Theo losing the jersey, so there's hope he'll be competitive again on the final day. And hopefully he gets the same thing Krieger had for breakfast; unbelievable that he even won a second stage against this competition!

So everything is still possible; 1st or 2nd on the closing day is needed to have a shot at the overall win, and I hope Reinhardt delivers one last time this season. VdS is really surprising so far - unfortunately, as I had hoped to gain some more points against Philips, but well...
Cissé is still inside the Top 15, and should at least stay in the Top 25. The team standings are looking really bright now, with a 64 points advantage. All in all, if we do a decent final stage, this will go down as a great race for us - despite the *whatever you call it* curse.

And last but not least: congrats to bbl and lief, and thanks for the reports!

The AI giveth, the AI taketh away. 1st in one flat stage, 22nd in the very next flat stage. It can't be explained, it is what it is.

Seems unlikely we can hold the top 5 now. Just gotta hope for the best that the math plays out in our favor and AKA decides to sprint again after a day off.

Kvetching works!

Clearly inspired by Frankovic's ride in Stage 2 Keough finds his legs and takes a 5th and then a stage win and 5th in the GC. A great way to finish the season for our sprint team. It also means goal met, which is what we really care about.

2 out of 5 goals for the season, rankings goal was always a fail, 11th in Philadelphia aiming for a top 10 and USAPCC could have been a win if Keough wasn't busy keeping his powder dry for the epilogue. Since I set the goals when I assumed I would still have Holloway I can live with that.

Congrats to Lief on the GC. Thanks to JPH for the reports.

Of course it's disappointing to just barely miss out on a second stage, along with the GC win, but I'm very happy to see Keough was the one to beat us. His lucky day came after all. Congrats to Ulrich, very well deserved!

On our end, we did it! Kragh Andersen performed enough when it mattered, and we secured our GC top 5. That means we {un}officially completed 5/5 goals this year, and in a year where we went way riskier than usual! I am in shock.

There's just no way to describe that feeling. Year after year we've gone 0/5 or gotten a couple of weak ones (i.e. top 20 in PCT) at best. Our budgets have been slim and it always feels like we're trying to dig out of a hole because of my poor planning. Now we'll be promoting with about as great of a budget as we could hope for, or at least I presume so.

12th-1st-22nd-2nd is not the way I would have drawn it up, but we got 2 good (great) days in 4, which is extremely lucky all things considered. AKA put together two really great sprints here, which given the sprint lottery was enough to be at the top. We leave with a stage win, 2nd on GC, and 2nd in points. Those are results worthy of his stats, no question, and it's promising to see. After a rough year overall, AKA really came alive and showed something between Philly and here to round out the season. While it will likely only serve to raise his wage, I really needed to see him do this after the training money and everything else. Now I can finally end my incessant pessimism that must be pissing everyone off majorly by now.

Congrats to Tyrg on a good win for Krieger, and thanks jph for the very speedy reports!

Overall a pretty solid race from Lavoine here, really impressed by him this season with his scoring and this race really shows of his consistency. Thanks for the great reports by JPH though, good stuff Smile

Yes! Yes! Yes! Get in boys!!! Exactly what we wanted from Krieger. After having had a relatively mediocre season in comparison to last year he has come in big where it really mattered. A little table for those of you keeping track at home:

This includes some quick calculations for GP Kigali and Philadelhpia, so Sauber still have some racedays in hand. Further, its only my very unofficial and poor mathematicking so take it with a grain of salt. Still, woohp!!! Thanks for the report jph. Genuinely was dropping back into despair following the poor showing on Stage 2, but then we won the next one and were lucky enough to hold on for the win.

Two good stages and 6th in the GC is fine for VDS after his season I guess. Extra GC points for Bovenhuis and Paprstka is also nice.

Congrats to lief! I see Krieger did a repeat of 2017 in this race. He loves it here. And he also confirmed our promotion that year with that result Wink

Thanks for the reports jph.

Thanks for reports and congrats to those promoted!

Our focus was on the Herald Sun but good to see Bennett doing OK here. He has had a decent autumn after a very bad start to the year . I am sure sponsors will be asking why he did so badly in the Ràs or USA challenge

It's hard for us to be disappointed when Krieger pulls off an impressive performance like that. I didn't think our top 5 ranking goal was ever going to be a possibility so overall I'm still happy with where we end up. Tryg has been the stronger team, congrats Lief!

Good on Schoonbroodt to sneak into the Top 20 with the bonus seconds, so we do not leave entirely pointless after all. Other than that, nothing to say but congratulate liefwarrior and thank jph for the swift and nice reporting!

Guillén finished his career in a not too fashionable way, which is a pity. Nevertheless he has scored some decent points this season, way more than anyone could have expected Smile

This also means we should be out of the race for the sixth place. Krieger might have been overperforming a very little bit here, but in general Tryg's team is definitely stronger and more balanced, so it's no shame to finish behind them. I'm quite sure it's impossible to overtake P:A as well, so seventh is hopefully ours.

For the remaining races we're trying to fend off Bralirwa and Sauber, with the latter probably being the biggest threat to our ranking because of their mtn/hill squad in Bayern and Zuri.

Thank you for the quick reports, jph!

It's a shame that Reinhardt had two of his weakest performances this year in the final two stages - especially the last one is one of those inexplicable failures.
Nonetheless, I really can't complain about him, as he did great in most of his races. 4th GC is still a decent result, and Cissé in the Top 15 plus the team standings bring some more points. And even stagiaire Szarka scored his first points for the team, well done!

In the end, there are several "what if"s left, but well... Congrats to lief on a huge result here, putting him into great position for promotion now. And congrats also to bbl on his amazing 5/5 and basically securing 2nd in the standings!
And thanks for the reports, jph, good job!
