Unacceptable and unexplainable. He and the team just don't try I guess.

I'd have to wonder if giving him a lead out has just made it worse

Who knows. It's all pretty much random at this point. I wouldn't lose sleep over your decisions.

Oh dear... Second place is obviously great - but it's the wrong rider up there... I guess that doesn't bode very well for Reinhardt's GC result, and I doubt Cissé will be in the mix again. But well, given how other teams did today, I can't complain.
With such an early catch, there's no real explanation of why this sprint was again so random. I definitely hope they'll get the sprint AI right in a future version, even though I was lucky this time. It's just not funny if you can't plan the sprints at all. Really hoping for some more realistic results...
On another note, congrats once again to Gjensidige. I don't know what their riders get for breakfast, but if even someone like Kip can win a race, it must be magic...

Solid showing by Bouhanni and a great improvement. Hopefully tomorrow he snatch a podium spot. Thanks MVDW!

Rough stage for us sprinting-wise. Looks like Selig really isn't the man for the team here, which would be fine if Habtom did better than 13th ... But it's cool to see that we're still involved working at the front of the peloton, especially with our youngsters. And I'm glad that Mugisha kept his jersey after all. If we leave with a GC Top 10 and the young riders jersey, I'll be happy. Hopefully, Habtom has another good day in him tomorrow.
Congrats to bbl, happy to see AKA living up to his status. And thanks for another nice report

It seems CT lead-outs are simply too weak to bring a result, unless the sprinter has a unbelievably superb day and can finish it from 1000-800 metres. The main reason why Los Pollos' lead-out in Tachira kind of worked was probably because there were only like three 77+ sprinters and the other were 70-ish and miles away.
My team tried to be in the break for the second day in a row but wasn't allowed by the peloton, too bad because it could have resulted into some points from the U25. Logical winner though with KA (and I'm glad for that), while Guillén is just a riding meme who almost wins the same stage as he did last year. I'm glad he delivered more then I could have hoped for though. When I read he was the worst of the sprinters up front I was just thinking some lead-out men could maybe drop back drastically so he could at least get one point with a top-8 finish, but he decided to show he still got some speed in his legs. Stages like this should suit him most of course, given the length, but still a very surprising nice second place for us
I expect him to drop back a few places tomorrow, but just scoring some points from the GC/points classification would really top it off for Los Pollos Hermanos!
Thanks again for the clear and interesting report, Marco.

Carlsberg strikes back, but youth classificatiot is a bit frustrating to see. Hoping Gamper gets into the breakaway tomorrow.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well, at least this time Feiereisen and Yamamoto tried to create a lead-out. Our presence was quite substantial at one point, but clearly too early. Timing was a bit off, but at least we see some improvement! If the train is perfected tomorrow, a good end-result still is on the table!

Randomness continues... Why does the game even bother giving Reinhardt Bib 1 if it doesn't allow him to sprint afterwards? Cissé was a complete failure as well today, but at least he's still high up in the GC. But the non-collaboration of Cissé and Reinhardt doesn't bode well for the rest of the season, as the former was planned quite much everywhere as a leadout for the latter, having done well last year... I really don't get it.
Congrats to Carlsberg nonetheless, at least we had a logical winner today. The rest was as random as yesterday, unfortunately...

Oh boy. Well, that was certainly a stress reliever after yesterday. This turned into a very grueling stage of rain and echelons, which on paper is exactly the kind that AKA should do well in (but the kind he failed at in GORR). He was the fastest with little help, so I can't complain obviously! I do wonder if his leadout being dropped actually helped him here (which wouldn't be an ideal sign going forward), but no time to think about that. The inconsistency so far can be frustrating, but it certainly makes me feel bad about being negative before.
Turns out this is AKA's first win for us ever that wasn't in the Tour du Maroc, so, something else to celebrate too.
Still seemed pretty random overall though, so I feel for the managers who lost out again. I was beginning to think AKA was out of it cause he was so far back, but once again the top guys in the finale got wiped out from behind on the line. Always hard to watch if you've been the team controlling the race only to see your work end up hurting you.
So, we've had one bad stage and one great stage so far. We're currently leading both GC and points by slim to no margins with one stage left. I mean, I want to win this race. As one of the favorites I think that's logical. But in one sprint stage anything can happen, as the past two stages have shown. Just have to take as many time bonuses and points as possible and finish up as high as possible, because there's still a chance AKA bombs it tomorrow and a ton of guys jump him. We'll have to just hope for the best.
Thanks for a very detailed report in the chaos Marco!

Well at least we were in the break. Mostov finishing ahead of Keough probably wasn't what we had in mind. So many sprinters so little road.
Congrats to Bbl and AKA who is a deserved winner and thanks to Marco as well.

Urg, positioning hurt us badly there, just outside of the points now. Congratulations to Carsi and good to see Pelucchi has still got it!
Thanks for the reports Marco.

Congratulations to Carsi first off, great to see our former rider do well.
But.. That sucked. But we will take our stage win and 6th overall and go home. Nothing to cry about considering the riders we started the race with.

Yet another absolutely horrible stage, with Walscheid at least somehow saving it for us. I simply don't get it why my team did nothing at all for sprint preparations, having a machine like Mundle, and a leadout that worked very well last year. But Reinhardt is maybe thinking he's still in PCT and doesn't even bother about C2 races... February has been a month full of disappointment so far, and this race unfortunately is no exception to that.
Thanks for the reports, Marco, and congrats to Nordica for a big win here! Carsi surely is a pretty logical and deserved winner, but there's way too much randomness behind... Might be a very, very long (sprinting) season for us...
