I see you Sureda. Great showing from the developing youngster to sprint home for an 8th place.

Okay, everything apart from losing time on these three flat stages will do
Hope that we can get a man in the break as well on one of them. |

Didn't expect Bru to be a lead-out rider, it seems like he knows how terrible he was in Yekaterinenburg and now trying to make up for it On the one hand I'm very happy with my first podium and points. On the other hand, finishing second is just being the first loser
Congratulations to Carrefour and thank you jph!

Well that was a pretty poor job by my team all around. Fabbro working on the front - absolutely terrible idea - only for Bertilsson to do absolutely nothing in the actual sprint and not even make the top 10, behind guys who have a sprint stat 15 points below his. Not a good sign for him.
Luckily one of those guys was our own Gyasi Sulvaran, but uhh... he has 65 sprint. Not sure how he ended up there, even on a +5. If he was having such a good day, maybe he should have led out our actual sprinter. It seemed like there was decent coordination going into the final 3km and it just blew up.
In any case, we can't waste Fabbro entirely and then find a way to not finish it off. I guess I knew it was a possibility sending Bertillsson here with no train, but honestly I thought I had enough normal domestiques here and there would be enough other sprinters to not have 65 flat Fabbro pull the peloton into the sprint. Once we did, we have to be better than that. Not optimistic though after seeing how bad we botched it
Nevertheless, congrats to Maxime and thanks for the great report jph!

When I said the sprint field looked weak, I did not expect Dakteris with 77/77 to take it, spectalular result for Maxime

Great stage for the new teams! Congrats to Los Pollos on their first win and yellow jersey - nice to see a South American take that win for them
Dakteris with another surprisingly strong sprint, whereas Bertilsson definitely needs some positioning lessons. The very, very late catch surely didn't help for that, either - good fight by the breakaway!

I continue to be impressed by Munyaneza's efforts here, maybe he can finally topple Monaco tomorrow. I also continue to be disappointed by Reidecker, another finish outside of the Top 15 is slightly worrying.

Wait, hold on. Are we sure Sureda only has 72SP/73ACC? What is going on? Another remarkable sprint from the newbie.

Oh well, if we can’t win then I’m more than happy to have Nemolito and the chicken boys take the honours. Congrats!

Welp. Another pretty terrible performance by Bertilsson here. Just nowhere near where he needed to be in the final and his sprint clearly didn't make up for it. It can't be because of his stats in this startlist, so there's not much I can do about it. Luckily he'll mostly be a leadout man for the rest of the season, cause he's not proving his worth here at all.
Thanks for the report!

sad to give up the GC lead but a third and a 1st place on flat stages in a stage race where we sent all our climbers is awesome. Hoping for another good performance from Dakteris next stage as we move into the hill stage where I'm hoping Quevedo can shine.
Btw thanks for the great reports JPH! |

Ahhh, so close for Van Heerden! Congrats to Los Pollos for your first victory though.

What a duel between Manarelli and Van Heerden, and of course very happy that our Brazilian wins it on South American soil I considered the first two stages to be the best fit for Manarelli, as tomorrow the stages might be a bit too hilly already for him, so I'm happy he had such a great day today with a second and first stage. Of course I'm hoping he continues like this tomorrow and they maybe has a shot at winning the points jersey as well, which would make things only more beautiful. Also seems like a great lead-out performance by Quicibal and Coronel, with the latter grabbing a cheeky point as well by finishing sixth, so very happy about the team effort as well.
Thank you Fabianski, Aidan and SN! It really was a close and long sprint and could have easily went to Van Heerden as well. His acceleration stat might prove not too important on different sprints, such as shown tonight, which could hopefully give him a win soon as well.
I'm interested to see how some of the other "sprinting" teams here will do tomorrow, as it seems some sprinters are really not caring at all. Guessing it will be another one or two close calls with the breakaway as well tomorrow as not too many teams might be chasing. Anyway, very happy with our first win and yellow/green jersey and really looking forward to tomorrow to see how the other two sprints turn out!

It's been a nice surprise seeing Nur Hasan doing well in the sprints so far, he definitely looks a strong rider for the future based on his first couple of performances.

Ah, Bertilsson has finally started his season, too! Congrats, bbl
And that Manarelli guy is impressivley consistent, scoring many important points for his team so far - will he even have a shot at the sprint jersey? At least, he'll probably keep it for a few more days, even when he'll lose the GC lead...
And then there's Signorini *sigh*... His abysmal flat stat really hurt him last year, that's why he didn't get a new contract with us. But I can really feel with Nordica here - losing 2' on an easy stage is really bad for any climber! At least he isn't their only climber...
Thanks for another great report at steady pace, jph

Couldn't be happier through three stages. Wasn't expecting much with our 'C' squad and they have overperformed massively so far. Sureda has been on fire and now Daniel Eaton gets in the break and uses the sprint check points to move up to 4th in GC. Well done.
Hopefully our sucess continues as the road begins to go up more.
Congrats to BBL on the win.
