Looks like you were right @ jandal
Nice of Kuboki to get some points. Hoping he can challenge for the win in that category, and another day leading the Team GC means free points essentially. Not super confident we will have a rider up there in the individual GC with how things are looking tho.

How on earth did Krasnoperov survive this stage? Maybe I've found a race he is rather good at

Congrats to Sauber/Slagter on the stage victory.
Good show by Contreras to retain the GC, points and U25 leaders jerseys given todays lumpy profile held quite a few potential dangers for him as evidenced by the split that he was perhaps fortunate to recover from. Tomorrow's stage is a different undertaking altogether. Miight be asking a bit too much to pass the race leader jersey to one of his team-mates, but Ji, Sepulveda and Boily are all keen to put down a marker in the MTT and sit within 30 seconds of the lead. Given todays stage has had limited impact on the GC, the MTT looks like it might be the major stage as opposed to the two hilly stages; then again the 2nd hilly stage is much tougher looking than today so race still finely balanced.

Really liked the control we showed at times today but annoyed we let it slip with a poor position for Houle which cost him a routine stage win from there. Especially as it came at the cost of chasing down Anthony Roux, nice to see him on the offensive And also a shame there was no real gaps given we were in a good position, it would have benefitted Bennett had this been more decisive. Hope the extra bonuses Houle let Slagter and Kwiat get don't come back to haunt us.
Hopefully Bennett can come out of the MTT-HTF combo the best from here, "just" win or at least distance the other MO/HI guys and Slagter/Kwiat by enough on the former, and then hang onto the front group on the latter

Ok good, good. Solid ride from Bennett, obviously was dreaming of yellow but with the guy ahead of him having 68HI hopefully he's in the driver's seat here. Not saying Krasno will lose it, only that I think we, and plenty of other teams, will die of shame if we let Krasno win a HI/MO race Congrats fjhoekie, nobody can deny he's good at climbing mountains and he delivers here
Decent enough rides from Grmay and Venter if nothing spectacular from either, if they both finish well tomorrow they can provide decent depth points I guess! The dream is with both of them plus Houle we can make the circuit hard tomorrow to drop Krasno, then hopefully Bennett can follow every move by guys like Ji, Choi, Kwiat and Slagter, but that's a lot easier said than done A bit of a balancing act to make it so 76HI is the bar for surviving, nothing lower or higher

Costagli sandwiched between my two former climbers. Cant really complain since he was massively cheaper, but we will probably see why thats the case on tomorrows stage...

Nice to see us get a stage win and that Ranaweera now holds the youth jersey.
Hopefully Slagter can improve in GC with an aggressive ride on this final stage, but we need Ranaweera to avoid losing spots on GC or losing the Youth Jersey too and I feel like we will either have one or the other.
I'm not even too sure which one the team will end up racing for, I just hope they make the correct decision, although I couldn't tell you which one that would be.

What? lol.
Now watch Krasnoperov get a +5 day, boosting his HI by 7, and MO by 5 for tomorrow... It's a dream already, please let it continue for the sake of awesomeness...

YES YES YES YES What an effort from our team and Bennett finishes it off decisively by pacing Krasno and others out of the group and then outsprinting his rivals to take the stage win and move into yellow with one day to go And of course brilliant rides each from Venter, Grmay and Houle to control it and to finish really well each to earn some minor points on GC, especially Grmay 12th on GC and Venter 17th give really solid depth. Plus Bennett leads points and wins KoM, not sure what the metrics are on where Contreras has to finish to get it but either way that's very pleasing icing on the cake if we can get through tomorrow incident-free for our first ever GC win at the PCT level
And also of course great to see our loan-out James Fouche in the breakaway!
And sorry to Krasno, I know I may not be the most popular guy after helping strip away what would have been a cult victory

Shame, would have been so funny... But still, 11th and 14th, with a stage win in a race Pluchkin is absent is a huge success. Now hoping Ulanowski can make it an even better race tomorrow.

Now, that's my man, good ol' George Bennett! Loving it.
Japan is always a fun race to follow. And it's even better with one of my all-time favorites winning.

Oh and if it couldn't get any better, Xero icon Anthony Roux takes the final stage win with an awesome ride, brilliant
As said in the last post just an absolutely fantastic race, was disappointed with the sprints but easy to forget about when Houle contributes to a brilliant team effort to help Bennett to the GC win plus both other classifications and a stage win, while also giving around 30 points I guess from Grmay, Venter and Houle's GC positions. These points can hopefully be a huge shot in the arm in the relegation fight and make me super glad I trained Bennett into this level of climber. Just awesome
Huge thanks to Gustav for the great and consistent reporting, your report output right now is also massive so thank you very much for that as well

Man, a collective team fail in the stage I thought suited us best and had multiple candidates for the stage win, haha. This race definately sums up our season
Thank you so much for the brilliant reports! |
