No idea what we're doing in this race, but looks like it's gonna be another 0 pointer Rolling Eyes

This race is going much better than I had expected so far! Lutsyshyn proving to be a very solid sprinter indeed, despite lacking in some departments, and Golovash and Kononenko both did an excellent job in the opening TT, hope they can hold on to those performances in the longer TT to secure good GC places, and score us some decent points in a race without Pluchkin.

Ok, atleast Ludvigsson still in the lead going in to the ITT but what the heck Ahlstrand, The best sprinter with the best leadout takes 10th in a sprint.....

AbhishekLFC
Decent 6th place from Wippert, probably getting himself ahead of Te Brake now in the internal sprint pecking order.

DaveTwoBob
Disappointing for Cav (and Ahlstrand), plenty of time to get organised with 4 in Kraftwerk's leadout but he still gets dropped off too early.

Is recruiting and sending a decent leadout worth it?

Congrats to maxime86 for the win and cunego for another great report.

Sad that Enger got dropped from Holloway's wheel there in the final sprint but 3rd place shows the speed is there! Enger has performed ok (3rd and 7th) in the sprints so far but considering this is a lower level sprint line up we probably could've done a bit better.

The TT is obviously very important for the GC, nothing less than a podium in the stage and GC will be accepted. Enger is also a potential dark horse for a top 20 GC as well with a stage win on the last stage as well.

No gloating today, not so textbook lead out. Think my preference to see Holloway try and follow other wheels is the right way to go. Still 4th in the stage isn't bad, avoiding the no show that some of the other top sprinters experienced.

Groselj took 2nd in Eritrea to make it a good day for McCormick.

Congrats to Carrefour.

Oh Golovash you useless idiot... But luckily Pszczolarski looks to be salvaging a very decent top 20 for us here...

I looked up Onodera and Quintero in the DB.

I shouldn't have.

Maybe we need to reconsider which TT routes to put into MG races. This one might have been too mountainous.

Oh dear - very bad news for 80TT mountain challenged riders like Schädlich and Viennet in PCM18 "hidden mountain" time trials!

Vadim Ratiy - MO 80, TT 74
Aberlardo Ablenado - MO 78, TT 72
Emilien Viennet - MO 54, TT 80
Lucas Schädlich - MO 54, TT 80

Shocking performance from Ignatiev, not much else to say.

Selig meanwhile, with some excellent sprint performances. If he can get his positioning right, he could maybe fight for a podium on the last stage.

The big thing seems to be where in the stage the hills/climbs are. After the hill in the first part of the stage, the intermediate times at the halfway point looked pretty much like what you'd expect from a completely flat time trial. Even if another hill would have come shortly after, I don't think it would have been a big deal.

The problem I think is this: If you're running out of energy within the final kilometer and it's flat, you'll maybe lose a bit of time, but not much. But in this one, the final ~300 metres or so had a slope of up to 8% and those riders who were spent almost came to a standstill and I think that's where most of the time was lost. This is much less of a problem to riders with mountain stats who can still climb even with little to no energy. And some riders did have some energy left, see for instance Durbridge finishing third despite 58 mountain. It just seemed random who did and who didn't.

So I don't think you need to banish any supposedly flat time trial with even the slightest hill, but it's important to look at the spacing of them.

Wow, Ludvigsson is having a very good race here which is perfect since Ahlstrand did not deliver on the previous stage!

Hopefully Ludvigsson will sit quite in the pack on the last stage and Ahlstrand will win the stage! Smile

Agreed need to kill slopes in the last aproxx 5 km of any "flat" type ITT TTT, as they will become very important. unless off course in the "rare" situation where it may be a choice.

Great to see Coppel on the top again after some miserable performances.

I agree flat TT routes must be adjusted to avoid such weird results.

And I don´t like stage finish like this either:

Incredibly happy with that performance, definitely getting my hopes up a bit for the rest of the season paired with Vanderbiest's stage win.

Kinda surprised the gap was that huge but i'll take it, thanks for the report Cunego!

Well, we are doing quite well in the TTs in Sweden. I think all TTs from now on should be in Sweden. We obviously like it here Pfft

Two in the Top 10, and possibly 4 still looks decently possible here, so that would be a great result for us! Had a feeling focusing on TTs would pay off. Hopefully Onodera can win the Youth category too. Surprised we arent leading the Team classification.

To be fair, daily form was probably the much bigger factor here. (Another issue I found with PCM18...)

It increases stats by +8 sometimes, and its not random anymore.

AbhishekLFC
Never thought Poels would perform better than Ligthart on a stage like this Pfft
