A really cool duo for the CT, especially Milos who from what I know must be the U25 favourite in CT for the stage races currently? Could be a great little scorer!

11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Given the way Brajkovic performed for me last season, I believe Nibali has a chance to be a consistent points scorer in CT

Hills Leaders are Signed!
The main focus of our transfer window has been to build a team that would bounce straight back into the PCT. To do this, we knew we had to make some signings that would give us the best chance to score well. This duo could be deadly at CT Level as both are strong riders that offer unique threats that aren't common among riders in the division.
Rui Costa
Age: 33 | Wage: 150,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 69 | 70 | 79 | 75 | 71 | 70 | 70 | 60 | 68 | 70 | 65 | 62 | 75 |
The 33yr old Portuguese legend joined us from Philips for 400,000 and saw Olivier Le Gac go the other way. His wage of 150,000 is a small price to pay when you consider the threat he offers. He is stronger than McEvoy in the hills and will be able to compete with the best in the pure hills while his ability to ride against the clock is a strength that not many others in the CT have. Like McEvoy, he is capable of dominating the CT division and we look forward to seeing him in our traditional orange.
Jonathan McEvoy
Age: 30 | Wage: 110,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 70 | 64 | 76 | 65 | 75 | 70 | 71 | 65 | 75 | 79 | 79 | 66 | 65 |
30yr old Brit Jonathan McEvoy is a quality rider who is more than capable of tearing apart the CT division. He joined us from Berg Cycles for 500,000 during the transfer season and has a very reasonable wage of only 110,000. He offers a unique threat in that he is able to stick with many of the best in the hills and he can finish it off with a kick to match in the sprints. He is also a very attacking rider so he's definitely someone other riders will have to keep an eye on and we're certain the fans will love him. |

Good job with those signings Specially McEvoy, he should be a beast in CT with those stats, though not sure how much calendar can fit him

Hope Costa can come up with the goods for your team. Love that he gets a leaders spot on a team despite his decline. He should be good in CT

One of the few departments within the team that hasn't seen any significant additions. This is a part of the team which will need to step up this season and perform to the standard that they're capable of. We are however excited to see what the riders can bring as we have a quality leader in Moreno Moser who will have a fantastic lead-out in Armindo Fonseca and the young talent that is Fabio Jakobsen.
Moreno Moser
Age: 29 | Wage: 140,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 72 | 53 | 67 | 70 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 62 | 80 | 79 | 63 | 54 | 72 |
It is time for the 29 year old Italian to really make a name for himself. Other than a stage win in the Tour de Romandie last season, he really struggled to make an impact alongside Bouhanni as the duo didn't work well together at all. This season, Bouhanni is gone, leaving us with Moser to get the results. We believe he will be one of the best sprinters in the division so he should be able to do well and we've made sure he's got the support of a good lead-out train. His contribution to our promotion push will be vital so let's hope he doesn't hold back!
Armindo Fonseca
Age: 30 | Wage: 50,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 74 | 54 | 61 | 64 | 74 | 68 | 76 | 60 | 78 | 77 | 63 | 63 | 64 |
Due mostly to the poor performance of our sprint leaders last season, Fonseca wasn't seen near the front too often. However, this season it'll be different for the experienced Frenchman. He will be the main lieutenant for Moser and who knows, maybe he'll grab some decent results himself.
Fabio Jakobsen
Age: 23 | Wage: 55,000 | Lvl: 3.16 | Pot: 6
| FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | | 70 | 58 | 65 | 59 | 71 | 71 | 73 | 70 | 75 | 76 | 67 | 67 | 69 | Maxed | 74 | 59 | 65 | 59 | 75 | 73 | 81 | 73 | 80 | 80 | 67 | 68 | 69 |
It would be of no surprise for you to hear that the future of sprinting received a fair bit of interest during this transfer window. To be honest, you can't blame them when you see the talent that he'll possess in 2 seasons time along with his wage of 55,000. He's already a quality rider who will be a great lead-out for our senior sprinters. The only chance he'll get to ride for himself will likely be at Avenir but he'll still be one to watch throughout the season and we know many are following his development. |

Yes, that's right. Despite our relegation to the CT and the limited financial capabilities that we now have, we were still able to sign a talent.
Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil
Age: 24 | Wage: 60,000 | Lvl: 1.00 | Pot: 5
| FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | | 63 | 59 | 59 | 60 | 65 | 64 | 65 | 58 | 72 | 72 | 60 | 67 | 64 | Maxed | 70 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 72 | 67 | 77 | 63 | 81 | 79 | 60 | 68 | 64 |
His name is a bit of a mouthful and he's not from Europe but Abdul Halil is one of the next great sprinting sensations coming out of Asia. He'll max at 81SPR & 79ACC which will ensure he is a great lead-out man for Jakobsen in the future. He can't do much in terms of the hills or the mountains but that's fine because that isn't his job. The best part is he can develop under us for the next 2 seasons so we'll get to see him as a domestique while he learns his trade. |

Seems like a very balanced team, which I hate seeing as that was my sort of approach (except you don't look like much of an artiste). And I question your anti-Baltic spiteful late outbidding strategy

They are the core of every team, the unsung heroes, the backbone of the cycling world. Some may call them low-paid fillers but they are the reason that breaks are chased, leaders protected and crowds entertained. They are the common domestiques.
Ruben Fernandez
Age: 28 | Wage: 50,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 66 | 75 | 75 | 66 | 72 | 69 | 72 | 57 | 60 | 66 | 72 | 72 | 65 |
The one man who has been with us since the beginning. He was there in 2014 when it all started. Some would say that he is the reason we promoted in our first season and they'd be right. Not only was he a solid domestique in our first CT season, he actually won the Tour d'Algerie from a successful breakaway.
Now, he's back for more. This season his role has changed from being the youthful escapee of 2014, he is now one of the experienced road captains who will provide consistent and solid support in both the mountains and the hills.
Stelly Robert
Age: 31 | Wage: 55,000
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FTR | DH | PRO | 67 | 57 | 60 | 79 | 66 | 70 | 68 | 57 | 55 | 55 | 74 | 70 | 79 |
"Potentially Stellar" Robert joined the team for a low fee at the back-end of the transfer window. He is the only fully developed, pure TT rider in our roster this season. We're not expecting too much from him, especially given his wage is only 52,000. He'll be riding a good variety of Time Trials and Prologues throughout the season so hopefully he can get a couple of points. |

Love the little peeks teams give into their history and the riders who make the team what it is. Glad to see Fernandez taking a prominent role within the team

jandal7: I also reckon they're a cool duo. I would have to agree with you on the U25 part although points available at C2 and C2HC for the U25 classification are pretty low. It'll be a good add-on to the GC points he'll score though!
redordead: It won't be easy with guys like Intxausti, Eastman and many others but I think he'll score a good number of points for his wage.
Azrerbaijan: Thank you! I hope we've done enough to have riders who will help us promote back up this season.
Aquarius97: I'm looking forward to seeing how well McEvoy can do. I've had a look at the races he's done well in historically but you never know, especially given the pure hill strength of other riders in the division.
AbhishekLFC: He was one of my main targets going into the transfer window and I'm glad we managed to come to a good deal there. I think he definitely has what it takes to score well in C2, C2HC and even the C! and HC races too.
quadsas: I felt it was important to be balanced when you've got guys like Kwiatkowski, Eastman, Intxausti, Holloway and many more in the CT next season.
jandal7 (again): I'm glad to see you enjoy it! Looking back at history is why I enjoy things like this. The number of times I find myself looking at my old HQ's is unimaginable I do think Fernandez will enjoy sitting back and captaining the side on the road while the young fellas go nuts!

One of our final team updates from the transfer window is to see what our youngsters are up to, how they've been developing and where they'll be riding this season. We won't update you on Jakobsen or Abdul Halil as they have already been covered.

Your talent squad is really cool, going to be a special group of riders in a couple of years for you. Not so sure about some of the directions though Would have liked to see Cosnefroy as a hilly stage racer instead of pure TT in particular, but it's your party Looking forward to them all maxing!

jandal7: It's always difficult knowing how I should develop certain riders and you'll probably find I end up taking routes that suit my future team better than the individual rider. Cosnefroy is the perfect example because I see him as a real top-class TT rider if I train his REC once he's maxed. Whereas, he could go in the direction of a Hills Stage Race rider but his low potential mixed with the fact that I have Paez, Gaudu and Vincent for the hills already has ultimately ruled out that possibility.
sutty68: Thanks mate! It's always a tough one as there are plenty of sprinters around but being able to produce some younger ones from within will likely save me a lot of money in the future

Final 2019 Roster
We present to you, our team for the 2019 CT Season!
A mix of age, experience, nationalities and strengths. It's not the mountain-dominant Euskaltel of the 2014 CT season and it's not the Euskaltel that many would expect but it's a team that I believe is capable of getting back into the PCT in no time at all.
In Costa and McEvoy, we have two great leaders who offer something a little different in the hills. We have the ageing Nibali and youthful Borisavljevic ready to go in the mountains. Moser can't wait to show what he's capable of in the sprints. Robert is a capable enough TT rider on his day. And we can't forget Batman who is our lone cobbler.
We have 23 riders on our books but 2 are stagiares and 4 are loaned out. The average ago across the 23 is just over 26 while only 10/26 are fully developed. We were able to hold onto every talent acquired last season, except one.
This should be an exciting season for the team and we're glad that you're here to join us for the ride!
Regards,
LuLu Sanchez |

Only two races for us in January and they're both one-day classics. The first of which is a great chance to see our new riders feature in Rui Costa and Jonathan McEvoy who will have great support from Fernandez and our younger riders.
The second of these is a flat classic in Australia. The Great Ocean Road Classic is a Top 5 Goal for us so it'll be vital that Moser steps up and gets his CT season off to a good start. He will have strong support in Fonseca and Jakobsen as well as others ready to work for the team.
We believe we can get off to a great start so we look forward to seeing what our riders are capable of. |

Write-Up: It's a busy February for the team after a relatively quiet January.
We start with a mix and match stage-race in Malaysia. Our GC hopes lie with Nibali & Borisavljevic, Robert is there for the prologue while Moser will try his luck in a few flat stages.
Rui Costa then makes his second appearance in the jersey in Slovenia in a race where he really has to be one of the favourites, he has a solid supporting cast.
Another flat classic where we really need Moser to perform and get a good result.
It's then over the New Zealand for a hilly one-day race where Costa and McEvoy will be looking for a good result.
We're then over to Asia for two mountain stages and a TT where we probably don't have a favourite to take the win but we could do alright.
Finally, it's back to Kiwi Land where we have McEvoy for if it becomes hilly and Moser for if it goes to a sprinter.

The hilly classic was our opening race of the season. We had Costa who we hoped would do a job for us.
As a team of a favourite, we were on the front doing the chasing early on.
With 1.5km to go, Costa was in the group of 7 who would decide the win.
In the end, Chaves was too strong. Costa did manage 3rd which is a great effort!

Great Ocean Road Classic
The slightly hilly flat classic does tend to throw up surprises so it wouldn't be too unusual for this not to end in a bunch sprint.
We were one of the teams who sent a man to the front to chase the breakaway.
A couple of late escapees won it ahead of the pack while Moreno Moser finished 8th. Thus, failing our goal of a Top 5.

Manager Comment: 3rd in Cuba was a fantastic way to start the season for Costa and the team! Moser on the other hand was somewhat disappointing in Australia but did manage a Top 10 which means some decent points. Overall, a good start to the season that we need to maintain in the years to come.
