Hmm, Nippo rider Hiroki Nishimura already out of the race after finishing outside the time limit. |

hahaha yes saw that as well. Eurosport were going on about how there were two Japanese riders in the same race on the same team, now there's only one. Hell I don't think I've seen anybody finish outside the time limit on an opening prologue/TT before.

Bouhanni did it in Tirreno earlier this year
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Roglič makes history by becoming the 1st Slovenian to wear the pink jersey

Seems it's not so uncommon after all and it seems like it often happens in Italy.

seems like Roglic only rival this giro is whether or not he's able to keep his form. looks unbeatable with the form he showed in all the pre-races whilst not being 100% according to De Plus

No, Yates is obviously a prime rival formwise and also good TT by Nibali. I can not believe that Roglic is being called unbeatable. Have we learned nothing in all these years?

Also MAL in very good striking position. Now he just has to not lose time the first week due to any common superman mistakes, eg crashes, mechanicals, going straight in a corner etc

Definite case of Mikel Landa having to go on the offensive in the mountains to counter his losses in the time trials. Hopefully he's ready to unleash the Landini again and cause some chaos, or maybe that was just an Astana specific trait.

Pascal Ackermann draws first blood among the sprinters with victory on Stage 2 ahead of Elia Viviani, Caleb Ewan, Fernando Gaviria, Arnaud Demare and Davide Cimolai. So even if Rafal Majka does nothing for them, Bora - Hansgrohe will already be walking away with at least one stage victory this Giro.

That's an illegal sprint by Viviani imo.

not sure if it's my anti-quickstep bias, but I have doubts that's was clean. Bouhanni would be penalized for sure (or at least maybe people would question it)

Tough call today. I get that there was a substantial and dangerous deviation from Viviani, but it doesn't look malicious or intentional. He goes left to launch his sprint from Ackerman's wheel not to prevent Moschetti from overtaking him.
Very tough call, especially in the Giro against the national champion. I can respect this decision, but after Ewan's relegation in the TDU I think we're going a bit overzealous with these.

Giro is not famous for defending home riders, like Nizzolo few years ago, giving Arndt first place..that's much fair than TdF, but today looks quite exceeding.
