Big name to enter the team.
Just skimmed your HQ, you made some smart goals for the upcoming season, I really hope you can avoid relegation.
And once again congrats on Cunego, a TDF winner in the ManGame if I remember correctly? Or am I wrong
Either way, that Giro dop 10 seems in the pocket with him! |

Giro Legend indeed.
Well, that top 10 should be safe. Top 3 is even possible with this guy |

Would be great if he could get himself onto the podium again, two 4th places would be haunting. And motivating.

Legend to say at least. One time he even crashed and still won the race

Sorry to just get around to this now
@ tsmoha - Yeah, I am really hoping he can do well for us, he is probably going to be our best rider by far this year, and he's got one good year left, so he's got to make the most of it.
@ Avin - I was actually thinking Cunego would be your target too, so I was concerned we would cross paths. But yes, I like the Old Italians quite a lot Hopefully you are right
@ SotD - Indeed, he's not like most GC riders with 82 MO and 73 Hill. He can probably take time on most others on the hilly stages in Stage Races.
@ Ian - Thanks a lot I do hope I can avoid relegation as well, but with almost 1mil tied up in Cunego, if I were to relegate I think I could keep most of the team intact should I go down, apart from losing Cunego.
@ Eden - Yep, A Podium would be amazing for our season.
@ Alex - Yep, huge legend for sure, and a rider I like irl Thanks!

Three More Italians Join the Team, One Leaves
With the transfer season pretty much wrapped up, it was time to announce some of our other signings! Meiji have brought in 3 strong riders through Free Agency to help strengthen the team and hopefully help the team stay out of the relegation places in the Pro Tour!
The first signing is Davide Appollonio
72 | 57 | 66 | 61 | 69 | 65 | 71 | 64 | 79 | 76 | 60 | 59 | 61 |
Davide still has room to improve and even now we think he has the ability to grab a win or two this season. He will be a big help to the team in the sprints and will be able to step up in the place of Napolitano next season who is getting old.
The next signing is, Enrico Franzoi
76 | 57 | 67 | 70 | 76 | 70 | 69 | 80 | 56 | 70 | 73 | 79 | 70 |
Franzoi joins the team with the purpose of being our Classics leader. He will be the strongest rider on the team for the cobblestone races and we think he will be able to grab some decent results for us this season in those races, which have always been a bit of a weak spot to the team before now.
The final rider to join is, Daniele Bennati
72 | 53 | 66 | 63 | 68 | 65 | 73 | 57 | 81 | 73 | 55 | 59 | 63 |
Bennati is joining the team in hopes that he can be a solid replacement for our departing sprinter, Ivano Lo Cicero who left for 3,000,000 to Quickstep. Bennati is not as strong as Lo Cicero but we think he can probably return about half as many points as Lo Cicero would have and the extra money can be used to strengthen the other areas of the team, which will hopefully improve the team further. With the addition of Bennati we again feel like we have two strong sprinters capable of winning stages, and that is the key thing for us.

Love that moves. Bennati will be fun to follow, as long as he finishes behind Goss
Franzoi is a rider I always had some love for - dunno why. But he's a cool rider to have on the team.
Good luck to our friends from Japan

@ Heine - Yeah, but I doubt we would have gotten him for as little in Free Agency and I still think he will do okay this year.
@ tsmoha - Yeah he will be fun to watch, hopefully he can take a few wins, whenever Gossy isn't around I've also always liked Franzoi, I dont know why, but he's cool and hopefully he can grab some good results for the team. Thanks a lot
@ Sutty - Yep, the team has gotten a lot more Italian this year

Nice team really, obviously counting on ageing italians as i predicted for Meiji in my transfer thoughts, that is also why i was not after them.
Good luck with bennati, i think that his acceleration is really horrible, so you should relly hope that PCM14 will not be in man-game same ACC fest as PCM13, because he would go nowhere with that stat.
Good luck Valv!

Yeah I cant wait for the day me team will be able to rely on Asian riders It shouldn't be too long now. That is very nice of you
Thanks he might do okay, I dont have very high expectations, as long as he scores Top 10's here and there.
Thanks, we will need it

Not a lot of news, but still interesting
In what was a barren wasteland for news the past season, Meiji have finally held a small press conference to reveal some things following the past season, and heading into the next.
Last season was quite fun to follow, but it also sucked. Meiji were not able to stay in the Pro Tour, not quite a massive shock, but it was the goal and in trying to achieve this goal the team signed several "foreigners" who under performed and caused a rift in the team. Not only that, but the team strayed from the core principles that the team was founded on to sign these foreigners. Because of this the team will be looking to move, or let go of most if not all of these "foreign" riders for the upcoming season and return to its roots.
There has been no confirmation on who exactly will be leaving the team at this time, but the manager has assured the media that changes will and must be made after last seasons disappointment.

Another Transfer Season Passes: More New faces
Meiji made the decision to let go of their strong foreign riders this window! First off, we would like to thank them all for their time with the team, the team is simply heading in a different direction and they will likely see themselves in better situations and potentially more leadership opportunities with other teams, so it was best for all parties that they moved on!
As you can see above, this is our team for the upcoming season. Tsubaki is loaned out, while Fernando is loaned in from Ayubowan!!
.:Leaders:.
Tomohiro Kinoshita is this teams pride and glory. He is one of the strongest puncheurs in the world and one of the very best in the division as well. He finally looks capable of challenging the best and he wants to prove he is the best Asian rider in the world. His 81 Hill and amazing backup stats should see him score well this year although it always depends on his race selection. He will very likely come up against former team-mate Tommy Zaini at some point this season and will want to out-perform him to prove the team made the right choice keeping him over the Italian.
Jianhua Ji & Chen Shikai are the only two Chinese riders on the team, and both have very similar capabilities. Both are expected to be the teams climbing leaders, but Ji will be more suited to the lumpy stage races while Shikai is more of a pure climber, with a better TT ability, perhaps better for a Grand Tour should he ride one this season. The team may only be able to keep one of these riders come next off-season so the two will have a fierce in-team rivalry to see who is more worthy of a spot as the teams climbing leader.
Kenji Itami & Tomohiro Hayakawa are both very quick sprinters, the two fastest sprinters in Asia, but both lack the ability to get over hills that a lot of their Europeans counterparts possess. The challenge for them this year will be to see if they can challenge them and even take some victories or if they need another year of training to challenge for wins. For this season there wont be too much pressure on them, but they are still expected to place well across various races in the season.
Ho Ting Kwok is a very unique rider because he is very strong on the flats, against the clock, and has decent sprinting ability too, so he can do well at flat stage races, and he will also need to be strong at TT events throughout the year, as one of the better TT riders in the division.
.:New Riders:.
The Kuroeda's are Japans best hope of one day winning Paris - Roubaix. Shiki is the older of the two brothers and is already a very well rounded rider. Saya on the other hand is the younger of the two and has the potential to be a very strong Cobbles rider, even better than his brother.
Kazushige Kuboki might be the best signing for the team. A great rider on the flats, hills, against the clock and with training this offseason maybe the perfect leadout rider, if not a good rider to lead races on his own. His name alone makes him worth signing and he is probably the most well rounded rider on the squad.
Hayato Yoshida is a young rider and will be another rider to add to the wealth of strong Japanese sprinters once he reaches his peak.
Shinpei Fukuda joins from Bouygues and we were happy to acquire him for a minimal fee as we feel he will be a useful team-mate no matter if his leader is a sprinter or a climber.
Ryoma Nonaka is a decent allrounder and his prologue ability as well as his hill abilities make him a good team-mate for shorter stage races that begin with a prologue.
Nidush Nirantha Fernando is the only Sri Lankan on the team but we will treat him just like any other rider on the team. He joins us on Loan for one season and we will help him "Level Up".
Yudai Arashiro is related to Yukiya. We dont know if they are brothers, cousins or something else but they are related, trust me. We didn't want just one pair of relatives/brothers on the team, and Yudai is going to be an insane flat specialist ones he reaches his full potential so we are excited to have him aboard.
And finally Sho Hatsuyama joins and will be another strong climber in a couple seasons. We actually expected he would be signed by another Asian focused team but when we had sorted out all our other dealings and found he was still available we had to put in an offer and luckily for us he accepted.
And thats it, my fingers hurt

Kinoshita is probably the best puncheur in the PCT, would be heavily surprised if he didn't get in the top 5 at the end of the season.
Promotion is definitely possible, lovely team, best of the luck!
