Looking forward to a good battle in the Giro this year, my gut feeling says that it has Uran for the Overall win |

Quite the farce that Rebellin will not be allowed. |

Absolutely agree. In that case, they should also ask Contador not to start.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

As well as Basso and Pellizotti.

As much as i don't like Rebellin it is deeply unfair to force a team to not bring a rider to a race. It leads to a whole range of further issues around where you draw the line on riders, organisers abusing powers, ignoring UCI regulations.
However before i jump against RCS, afaik the only source for this 'ban' is a single tweet. If there are more sources i'll be happy to take a look at them, but a tweet isn't that reliable. Just this past week we've seen that or Aru would be out for 2-years...

Yeah, Ulissi, Hesjedal, a few more as well. I mentioned Contador cause he's the main favourite and they even use him for advertising.

There are multiple reports and it's the only logical explenation for him not riding there. His mere presence would give CCC 10X the media attention it will get without him. |

Can you link those reports that don't use Daniel Friebe's tweet as the source? I'd like to get more informed

It was mentioned during the Sporza Romandie broadcast this week aswell though it's indeed likely that that was based on Friebe's tweet aswell. |

I am personally happy he isn't riding the giro but if it is actually a "ban" then I absolutley agree that it is a farce. He served his ban so should be allowed to race if CCC want him there.

Time for my incredibly unlikely Giro prediction:
1. Fabio Aru
2. Rigoberto Uran
3. Ilnur Zakarin*
4. Domenico Pozzovivo
5. Jurgen Van den Broek
Points: Michael Mathews
KOM: Roman Krueziger/Esteban Chaves
Young Rider: Fabio Aru
Contador crashes out, Uran takes the lead in the TT but can't hold off Aru, Zakarin is third but has his result erased 2 years later, Pozzovivo and Van den Broek do pretty well, Porte has an amazing first week, but starts to run out of fuel in the third week, ends up just out of/near the bottom of the top ten. Mathews finishes well on the flat stages and with an advantage after a hill takes the points and Chaves chases KOM points to win that.
This probably won't happen, but I never make a likely prediction. |

Noway it will take 2 years! It will be either the end of the Giro or the end of the year.
Oh and I don't think OGE will let Matthews finish the Giro, he will win a stage and most likely pink but will drop out for Le Tour.
But this is all just my opinion

I intended that predictions would fall under the umbrella of a Preview/Hype Thread so go ahead and post predictions away!
Anyway, how are we rating Zakarin's chances? Personally I highly doubt his staying power to last the three weeks but if he does manage to somehow do that the mountain stages aren't really much harder than the Romandie mountain stage and he will benefit from the TT...

Some would argue that if the mountain stage in Romandie was included in the Giro, it would be the hardest..........
Anyways, I dont think he willll last 3 weeks. Top-10 wouldnt be out of his reach tho |
