Strong sprint by Oss! He was pretty far back when it started and came back to fourth. Had he been positioned better, he could've challenged for the win I think.
Also good to see an alert Monfort in 14th. Bummer he lost time to those three though.

I somehow missed this thread, so nice to see this one already running, thanks for the preview and first report Smowz! This is one of the last races for Metinvest that we can maybe podium in GC, so i am pumped.
Great start to this tour for Metinvest and our flat beast, no problem with Ma and Zmorka being dropped. But that 2nd place bonus seconds and especially that gap to likes of Bobridge or Bibby can be worth gold.
I am not much afraid about Ventoso or Ulissi for the GC, given how they suck in TT, so distancing (and later limiting losses) that punchy TTists is more important.
Congrats to CSC!

Afewerki in the King of Mountains jersey, now that is unexpected.
Very interesting for the promotion fight that Ventoso takes the early lead. I'm glad the game gave him a leadout though, as it was an ideal stage for him. Good job AI!
Not so good for Bibby - particularly losing 25 seconds on Ignatiev - but plenty of racing still to come.

Hmmm I thought that stage would go more to the pure sprinters, but looking at the profile Im not sure why I thought that.

Let's Go!!!!! What a lead-out, what a crucial win!
Just what I needed. Now the brutal battle to hold onto yellow for the entire event begins.

Gourgeard brilliant again and Docker hitting the top 10 on such a hard stage is a good effort |

Sonnery got dropped, Ignatiev got a gap and Gautier started sprinting from too far back. It's the second half of our season in a microcosm. |

Not bad.
That gap to 2nd in GC is enormous already and i hope it can go even higher after the TT. After that, rest of the tour should be about controlling the breaks and Bobridge (and more stage wins).
Popkov 15th in GC is great too.
Thanks for the report Smowz!

Oh, great job Nelson. Our only hope for stage victory withdraws on stage 2 |

Here went my win goal impressive, Ignatiev, impressive!
Still satisfying stage after all. Some well needed gaps and Bobo doing well to have a late start in the TT. He should be capable of creating a comfortable gap on the non-podium spots there. Ignatiev though will grow his lead, so it will take some very good days in the hills later on.
Koren doing well to stay in the pack, so did Visconti... Rogers no surprise to get dropped, but thanks for mentioning it Still hope for the rather early TT and his chance to score at least a few points there.

Remember the time, Avin was thinking about relegation?
Ignatiev (and also Popovych and Rabon) recently back to their expected form. Or even overperforming.
I guess the first bit of the season was just not the most suited races or weaker lineups for you. |

Gautier for our top 5 goal then it appears. Looks like we should get 4 in the Top 20 overall though so not bad. Ignatiev will likely take 300+ Points from this race on his own. |

Yeah, i feel a bit stupid now after all that crying, but Metinvest manager is a passionate guy, you know.
I would say that Popo performed like he should for the first time in Portugal where he was a podium favourite, before that mainly underperforming. And his season is over, like Mikhail's after this race, so we need some more Raboň overperformances in Beijing and Japan Cup, as he benefits from good sprint and ACC, the king of all stats.
But nothing is guaranteed from this race yet, we need to be attentive. Top15 in rankings would be pure gold after the terrible first half of the season.

Very nice from Metinvest well done Avin
For RBC Anderson attacked at one point which was the highlight of the entire stage Docker staying in the lead group is gold as well if he can manage to take some bonus second at some point. |

Great job. We still have a guy in the top 100. Lietaer leading the KoM competition, and getting a free stage to keep it at least give us a few points here. The rest of the race and season anything is a bonus.

Pity that Bibby seems to have picked his home race to underperform at - but can't really complain given the season he has had.

A couple of decent performances from Wegmann. He needs to gap the time-trialists though otherwise this will be a poor race for us. |

Meh
Nah, expected a win from Ignatiev, so still happy with 4 in Top-6.. Bobridge now where he was meant to be. Hoping for Koren and Visconti to keep their positions inside the Top-20, would be good extra points.
Gratz, jph! Nice win for Reus.

Great to see Reus pick up his first win of the season in has last race for us. Now I've just got to hope he can cling onto the pack and the Top 10, while Gautier fights for the Top 5 overall - am slightly worried Reus will be leader from now on and I need to complete that goal! |

Craven is about where I expected him at this point. Top two seems out of reach, but Monfort should be possible to catch.
