Tavira: Volta ao Algarve
Luis Leon Sanchez
Vuelta a Mallorca: Stages 3 and 4

Stage 3

A nice hill and then a big climb right after. This should drop Hunter from Yellow but the real test for the team today is whether or not we can get someone high in the GC at the end of the stage. But with the likes of J.Rodriguez, L.L.Sanchez and A.Contador we aren't expecting much.

D.Mestre on the early attack.
i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b584/RaboGuy/Tavira%20PCM11%20Story/Vuelta%20a%20Mallorca/Mallorca%20Stage%203/PCM0013_zpse3bfddd9.png

58kms to go and the 6 man leading group of late attackers contains Gusev, Barredo, Ulissi, Arroyo, Van Summeren and Rolland.

And it is a great win for Carlos Barredo of Rabobank, ahead of Arroyo and Rolland. The 11 man favourites group finishes 1'50 behind. Rodriguez moves into Yellow and the top 6 are Spanish.

Vuelta a Mallorca: Stage 5

155kms of hills greet the team for the last stage in Mallorca. The goal here is to get Cardoso the prized KOM jersey which may be quite difficult as there are a lot of points up for grabs but we'll see what he can do.

With 116kms to go the 10man breakaway had a 3'02 lead to the Peloton. We have Cardoso in here who won the first KOM sprint and Quaade to support him.
i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b584/RaboGuy/Tavira%20PCM11%20Story/Vuelta%20a%20Mallorca/Mallorca%20Stage%205/PCM0001_zpsf9aa5c72.png

Cardoso has now lost it to the CCC rider

Gutierrez takes the win for Movistar ahead of Sanchez (RAB) and Gilbert (OLO).

My Comment: It was the team's first race of the season against very strong World Tour opposition but I think we fought well and hard being seen very often in the breakaways and especially Andre Cardoso finishing 2nd in the King of the Mountains which shows that our riders have that good attacking spirit. Hopefully we will have more success in our next race!

A good start from the whole team against such high-class opposition. Hopefully they will fare better against the continental division teams.

sutty68
The guys rode really well in Spain against much superior opposition and so should be pleased with themselves Wink and a pity Cardoso missed out on the Mountains jersey by 10pts too Frown

Luis Leon Sanchez
OZrocker: Yeah they did pretty well, and hopefully they will indeed.
sutty68: The guys are very pleased to hear such kind words and Cardoso is disappointed but 2nd isn't too bad.

Volta ao Algarve Preview

The Volta ao Algarve, along with the Volta a Portugal later in the season, is one of the most important races for the sponsors, the riders and myself. I want to see the team riding well in their home country and it is in races like these that we will start to gather more supporters from Portugal which is our goal in the long run. We have two of our 4 season goals in this race. The first is to get a stage win and the second is to finish in the Top 10 of the GC.

To achieve these goals we decided we needed all our strongest riders to be racing. Vitor Rodrigues will be there in hope and search of a Top 10 in the General Classification while Caldeira will be there to try and do well in the sprints. The other riders are there as support and to get into the breakaways where we may experience some success.
