Terrific preview, are you basque or something or do you just love basque riders/races?
Kreuziger, TJ, Stybar, Mollema and Voeckler/Rolland can also be mentioned as outsiders I guess. Too bad Ion doesnt race tomorrow, I feel like this should be a race suited well for him. |

Dan Martin for the win.
Cardoso for another top50.
Lachlan Morton for DNF, sadly.

Oh and I forgot Visconti as well as an outsider. He was going very well in the last week! |

Gallopin has been on top form so maybe if he's able to last the hills then he can out smart his opponents |

A general love of cycling mixed in with an interest in the Basque Country. I forget if you were around the forums for the 2013 Tour de France or any races after it, but those were some good times for people who like race previews.
Tinkoff Saxo are being such teasers about who is riding San Sebastian, they linked to their startlist and it just does a '404 Not Found'. I'm inclined to believe Kreuziger will not be riding since the official website was updated to remove him as a provisional starter, with PCS leaving him there because no one can access Tinkoff Saxo's link to verify .

Great new addition of contenders segment. Jeez, crossing my fingers for some basque action. Maybe Igor Anton got a free role but I doubt it, looking at the course where most of it is set for Valv.

Personally would go for Meersman as he's in really good form and has a reasonably strong team. However, it's a pretty hard race and can be unpredictable so I'll more than likely be completely wrong |

Meersman was almost dropped on small Wallonie hill, he isn't on good form. Stybar looked way stronger. |

We'll have to see who Astana put their faith behind, but Mikel Landa also will be there. With Astana also selecting Tanel Kangert, Leiuwe Westra, Valerio Agnoli, Maxim Iglinsky, Alexey Lutsenko, Andriy Grivko for the race.
(Pello) Bilbao will also be in attendance, but fortunately for the locals it isn't La Liga time just yet.

Going to be lonely day out in front of the peloton for Amets Txurruka of Caja Rural it seems. The peloton were very insistent on chasing down numerous breakaway attempts involving the likes of Pate, Lutsenko, Van Rensburg and co. So it wasn't until Txurruka broke free with a solo attack that the breakaway was given some freedom.
At the 35 kilometre mark, the gap from Txurruka to the peloton was 1'45".

Philippe Gilbert has abandoned after about 78 kilometres, so it could be all up to Greg Van Avermaet now for BMC.

New breakaway formed after the capture of Amets Txurruka on the second ascent of the Alto de Jaizkibel. David Lopez of Team Sky, Giovanni Visconti of Team Movistar, Alessandro De Marchi of Cannondale and Matteo Montaguti of FDJ.fr have broken free of the peloton.
EDIT #1: Jan Bakelants, Alberto Losada and Laurens Ten Dam have bridged to the new break of four, so it is now seven with a gap of 48" with 42km remaining.

Antón abandoned. I wonder what have happened to him, once one of the best climbers in the world, now nothing more than a fine domestique when in form....
I hope he will be ready for the Vuelta |
