About what I expected. Surely my time trialists had to wait for Marchante at times. And for the more important ttts better riders will be in the squad.
Expected ING stronger. Surprising loss here. Sicard though keeps the top favourite spot. Spilak already in light trouble.
Nice report. Very thrilling. |

Gazelle's first PT appearance! Excited and honoured to be here.
We have two goals in this race.
1) Our team ideology: attack as often as possible.
2) Shine in stages 3 and 4.
Some people might be wondering why we applied for a race with so many mountains. The reason is that not being GC contenders is beneficial to our number 1 goal.
Glad we lost some good time in the TTT. Let the attacking begin!

Sensational stuff from Swisscom! Interesting to see Spilak lose a lot of time, at least it will force him to attack, which should make for a very interesting race, both on the hills and the mountains, with the GC riders fighting for necessary seconds already from stage 3. |

Very nice TTT report!
Good start from us placing Keinath nicely at in top 4 of the field of favourites. Shame he lost 4 seconds to the front of the team though. He is looking good for a Top 10 so far though
And of course, congrats Swisscom, that was some turnaround!

Really. Very. Happy.
That was fantastic. It is a shame to beat ING but still not come away with the win. Still we have set VDB up nicely.

Whoah!!! That was crazy, I expected around 5th for us, so I'm absolutely thrilled. Perfect start for Nibali.

I hope that Sella will attack now, he got quite some time to take back

Expected struggle by Krieger. Too hard finish.
There are other stages for him. Not helping that he is going for the sprints. |

Interesting to see Sella in the sprint, I hope that bodes well for the mountains

Nice to see Kreder in 3rd, but I was kind of hoping that he could actually go for the win in this stage.

Hopefully the pace on the next two stages isn't too high. Wouldn't suit Gomez Marchante a lot then. More looking on the first mountain stage this season to check how much I can expect from my no.1 GT leader this year. |

Solid TTT, indicative of some exciting battles to come this year in those. Good to see Durbridge active and grabbing the KOM jersey, though it would be a surprise to see him hold onto it beyond the one day.

Cool to see Monfort attack! Shame he sat up though.
Note:
In a few hours I'm going on holiday for a week. Might not be able to follow this race during that time.

What a poor result on the opening day though Sicard still has a good chance. His only chance of winning this race is to get yellow before the mountain stages though.

Aasvold our only rider to keep in touch with the bunch
That should at least open up opportunities to get into breakaways, if the riders are strong enough.
That was another somewhat weird sprint, but Kolesnikov proved superior. Certainly a great win for Tinkoff! I'm looking a lot forward to just enjoy the GC battle here, which hopefully starts on the next stage. |

What a ride by Brambilla
He'll lose plenty of time in the mountain stages, but it's nice to see that he's trying.

Aasvold is doing brilliant to keep himself inside the top 100.
Just like Smowz wrote in the report, it looks tough for anyone outside the top 5 to get on the overall podium now. Big question is if any of the four can wrestle yellow off Nibali's shoulders. A strong show from the Italian, but there are more tests to come. |
