Good start. Aberasturi will never be a top finisher, but getting some points here and there is always nice.

I'm a little disappointed to tell the truth. My team does not have what is needed in this race for the creation of a train, it clearly hurt the Kupfernagel that clearly demonstrated that with the right positioning would have won easily.
in the end, the 4th place ends up not being bad if you take into account what happened

There's hardly a better way to start your pro career!
Very nice effort by Silvio today and deservedly rewarded with the white jersey for now.
Considering tomorrow's stage should rule out Aberasturi for bonus seconds, I hope he holds on and no U25 rider gets second on the line or more intermediate points for another day in the jersey.
Nerz was attentive again, I like having decent sprint stats for a GC rider, especially seeing how easy a split formed recently.
Talking about splits, I'm very unsure what to expect from tomorrow's stage. The flat rating could prevent attacks although the last hill is the perfect opportunity to gain time, I personally would rate that stage hilly every day.

I bought a too strong lead-out... Or a too weak sprinter...

I have to admit I have a soft spot for Belerus getting a win really, they took a hammering in predictions and then again in the early Australian races.
A nice quick bribe to the Privatbank boys and hey presto

Davila in the break... Better than what we're doing at South Africa. |

Great seeing former Swedbank rider Kenny Van Hummel helping Hutarovich to stage win, congrats Ste117! |

Tactics please!!! Why on earth would my team bring back GC riders when both Efimkin and Vaitkus are in the main group!? Idiots...

There's still a chance of top 10 for Jaramillo and Vasquez.. Unless PCM goes stupid and those sprinteres hang in the Green Mountain. |

Very nice win by Marquez, delighted. Just hoping he can take yellow tomorrow somehow, would be very beneficial before the Green Mountain which without I think Uran will with no problems. Looks good for a podium though.
Wayetens did a really good job positioning Marquez, great effort. Kudos to Kachira for splitting the field.

Wow what a stage from my team completely destroyed the peloton, only 15 riders in the first group and 5 are from my team .. I was far from expecting this situation on top with the stage to be considered flat. It may seem frustrating to have 5 in the first group and not win but the truth is that Kupfernagel, survive in the first group by the end it's almost a miracle so the 3rd and 4th place already bring me some sense of victory.
Some of the potential favorites have already more than 2 minutes to recover and will not have an easy task ahead ...

Kupfernagel and Hutarovich making the selection over that hill? Very odd

Really bad day, Samwel one of only a couple big GC riders missing out. Got to hope for a top ten from now on to salvage something, which is a bit of a shame. |

I guess not many teams have expected such a Karcher acceleration here. And while Kupfernagel obviously was part of it and Hutarovich taking profit from being in the front rows due to the yellow jersey, some sup top favourites obviously weren`t.
But even though the gap in the end was ~2min, the peloton did not give up and indeed chased.
But after mainly Karpets really destroyed the group forming those 15 rider selection, the strongest teams behind had not the energy to chase down such a strong group ahead.
Those climbers like Samwel apparently not made for hill acceleration like this. |

You can't seriously tell me that Kupfernagel and Hutarovich can be in that selection and fucking Nerz can't.

Wow the leaders jersey works miracles, although he finished 10th on the stage, I am happy Hutarovich fought to hang onto the jersey for another day. Brilliant ride
Last time we held a jersey for this long was last season with another Belarussian rider Siarhei Papok

Well that was unexpected. Worst stage to date for the team. Didn't lose too much time but its against Marquez and Uran so... That sucks.

Congarts to Marquez, but really? Kupfernagel and Hutarovich just sitting there nicely with 62 hill, when other strong punchers cannot close the gap after Karpets was setting the tempo? At least two of the biggest favourites in Marquez and Uran were attentive. Nice report Roturn

Not going to lie I thought Simon would win the stage after he managed to be in the elite section and the sprinters were out of gas - but Cataldo getting 3rd is fine by me.
Kind of strange to see Karcher destroy the peleton and Huratovich of all people hanging on, but strange things happen in cycling sometimes.
