MTN has announced it would bring at least 5 Africans to La Vuelta. Teklehaimanot, Augustyn, Meintjes, Grmay and Kudus?
Maybe Jacques Janse van Rensburg, Jaco Venter and Jay Thomson. Will be interesting, I think all of the afor mentioned will stand a good chance for selection. JvR has showed some good form and attacking racing, Venter too (bare in mind he's also been racing in Europe for a few years now) and Thomson has been aggressive and really strong lately. Venter and Thomson will both be good helpers for Ciolek.
My lineup (if they send 5 Africans):
Daniel Teklehaimanot
Louis Meintjes
Jaco Venter
Jacques Janse van Rensburg
Jay Thomson
Sergio Pardilla
Gerald Ciolek
Linus Gerdeman
Ignatas Konovalovas
The following stand a chance of selection as well:
Dennis van Niekerk
John-Lee Augustyn (it depends on how well he begins to shape up later in the season and if he can regain top-form)
Kristian Sbaragli (been showing good form lately, but more for classics)
Merhawi Kudus (talented, but I don't think he should go to a GT yet, still young at 20 years old).
Songezo Jim
I don't think Grmay will go. Not experienced enough in my opinion.

Perhaps bring in Stauff to support Ciolek?

If they really send 5 Africans, the 4 foreigners aidan mentioned are indeed the most likely as they're the best suited to WT racing.
Stauff/Sbaragli is a must to keep Ciolek's chances of success high though (which is still their best chance to show themselves), so that will be interesting to follow.
I guess we first have to wait if Gerdemann is even competitive in any way anymore.
And I agree it's too early for Kudus.

Lotto-Belisol doctor Jan Mathieu mentions tramadol as the blame for the crashes in the classics:

Didn't Taylor Phinney said something about tramadol and crashing riders as well? |

I would say he stands a better chance than Jim.
How hard can it be?

Sorry, we don't have that here. The correct formatting would be "I am pumped."

Tour de Pologne 2014 route was announced today. For the first time one of stages will end in Slovakia, with the finish climb of 7,9 km averaging with 4,4% (guessing from profile). There is Bukowina stage as every year and again the race finishes with ITT, but this time it's only in Krakow, so not so hilly as last year.

Do you know any percentages of the road there?

So Porte will skip Giro d'Italia for sure now. Because of the lack of racing in March or is Sky afraid of Contador? Probably both.

Is Contador doing the Giro? I thought he wasn't?
It's strange. Sky is doing some weird stuff this year (yeah, only this year ...). Changing line-ups constantly. I wonder why that is. Did something happen in the off-season, a new rider manager or something? |

Nope, I meant that Froome needs a Porte in shape as help. I'd love to see Contador race the Giro though next year again, he's just the perfect rider for the Giro.

I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with running away. Sky (and Cavendish ?) have been pulling riders out of races here and there, now it's Porte who's supposed to peak later than expected, and he might not show much in France at all, even if he's present. |

It is because Porte was ill from Tirreno up to Catalunya (and possibly further, but I don't know past that):
https://velonews.c...nya_321211
That gave him almost no racing time and thus very little form. It would be a waste to send him to the Giro lacking race form and so holding him back to focus on the TDF makes a lot of sense. I do wonder if he will race California instead to get some miles in.

Riders being pulled left, right and centre due to illness and...other reasons and the old guard rising in Contador, Valverde and now even Cunego?! Whatever next... |
