Surprise?
This was no surprise at all.
Well, it`s a long list and I guess several riders are interesting there.
In ~2 weeks we will know, who is riding where. May the better win. |

Yep, I guess fintas might be the only one surprised, I thought it was really really obvious
Renewals round 2 done, so I guess you'll find out all the new wages tomorrow!

I was not surprised, because you had already stated. Just did not know it would be a must have at all cost.

Ah, okay.
Yep, turns out it probably is. Bennati and VDB wouldn't do the job in 2015 anymore anyway, so I figured this would be the perfect chance to get rid of the old expensive leaders and rebuild the only part of our team that is not long-term oriented.
And there's hardly any risk, CT should be light years away and I rather promote one season later with an even more promising squad.

We do have a great young climber in Dominik Nerz as well, but he won't be able to lead a ProTour team.
Exactly! He would be perfect for a new CT team though ...
On a more serious note, do I understand it correctly that if you somehow get to keep VdB, he might be available?

@Roman: Thanks! It already starts to feel like "business as usual" for me, but when I take a neutral look at it from time to time, it's indeed pretty unique and satisfying.
@cunego: Regarding Nerz: With him most probably leading in all of his races this year, he'd definitely stay for now. Next year we'll have more good climbers though, so who knows...
Regarding VDB: Well, if you mean renewing with "somehow get to keep", and available for transfer this season with "might be available", then yes.
If you try to suggest him being transferred to you now, I think you'll neither have the budget nor the cap space to accommodate him.
If you try to suggest him being transferred to you 2015, you might have to talk to whoever he is riding for then.
If it was just a general remark to make it obvious for everyone, good job Captain!
I hope that answered that question

I'm sorry, I see I didn't express myself correctly. What I meant was whether Nerz would be available if you kept VdB as a stage racing leader. I'm well aware that VdB is currently too big for us
But I always knew that Nerz would be a very long shot, but we'll see about next year

Damn, I knew I understood something wrong
Even with VDB staying, I'm not sure if your budget would be enough for what I expect to receive for Nerz atm.
But remember it might be enough for Schwab
We'll definitely keep your interest in mind.

Schwab is not the rider you're looking for. Move along.

Declerq or Van Keirsbulck? Well that is interesting... Neither of them are core riders for us...

I might be interested in Bennati if you need to drop your wagetotal... Would fit in my long-term plans of having some succes now whilst building on a nice future...

Post-renewals wages and general transfer availabilty revealed
Renewals took place at the Puma HQ during the last two days.
Reports said that basically every rider left the building happy, and the wages now revealed show why: all 27 riders signed contracts for next season.
Surprisingly, most riders were willed to take a more or less significant paycut, and many of the top riders left the site so early that they most likely already accepted the first proposal.
Management will comment that insofar as we were quite aggressive in our opinion in round 1 and were hugely surprised that so many riders believe in our philosophy and formed such a strong bond with this outfit that they did not act greedy and wanted to make sure they'll stay a part of this team.
Sadly, of course we cannot keep all riders through transfer season, so to give everyone a first idea who will be available for what kind of deal, we added short comments to every rider line.
Expect a more thorough post explaining those comments and outlining certain plans tomorrow.

Santander would probably be prepared to offer Sanz employment if he required it.
We are nothing if not generous in terms of opportunity for Spanish cobbled riders.

Surprised you are considering loaning Demare out when you can fairly easily get him to 4.0 yourself by sending to only a handul of HC races, no? Guess the brackets might indicate that there is more than meets the eye!
Good luck in the new season, especially as you don't have a history of swooping in with big league money bags for South American riders (happy for you to enjoy your Europe focus!)

@sammy&cunego: Have fun, guys!
@Count: Great to hear! Have a look at our last post whether there are possible targets for a swap, otherwise I'll try to scrape some money together.
@fjhoekie: You're free to make offers. Just make sure it's a really good one.
I am pretty reluctant to sell him to a direct opponent considering my goals, but money talks
@mb: Perfect! We were close to releasing him, so we don't expect too much in return. We have to get back the 100k fine his renewal cost us, everything else is a bonus.
@Scorchio: I wanted to address that tomorrow, but now that you're asking...
Demare would be a huge asset in the C2 races we have to ride to get Herklotz to level 3, and of course he's a great rider in C1 and HC races as well. We do have a similar rider in Delage though.
Daniel might lead our squad in the few cobbled HC races we had to take, but is only a filler in the rest.
The brackets basically indicate "only if Herklotz requires extra cap space", and keep in mind there is lot of it freed up for him already

My calculations only get him to ~2.70 with C1 and HC races, and I don't expect that many PT wildcards. Tell me what I'm overlooking?
