We'll see each other here and there this racing season. I actually don't look forward to facing you in the mountains as I've got this feeling you'll have mean climbing machine come end of transfers Maybe if I sign one of the climbers I have in mind I might irritate you a little. On the other hand, I look forward to face Maksimov (if he happens to be in CSC - Orbea colours)

All 4 of the same bands. So we'll be meeting each other a lot, and it probably won't stop with just the HC races. It was to be expected though, as we're both heavily favoring the mountains.

The Transfer Period is closing in fast so here at CSC-Orbea
we decided to provide an in-depth look at the cyclists
we are putting on the Transfer Market this season.
Take a look!
David Abal
28 Years Old : € 500,000 : 36th PCT Individual Standings
Abal winning the opening prologue of the Sibiu Tour.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 68 | 81 | 70 | 77 | 74 | 77 | 76 | 61 | 58 | 73 | 71 | 73 | 77 |
David Abal was brought in last season to be our team leader and MO captain. Although he gave it everything he had, in the end he always fell short to Thomas Dekker and Rein Taaramäe. The good news is both of them when back to the Pro Tour, the bad news is Beñat Intxausti is the new man to beat in the PCT. Here at CSC-Orbea we want to win, and having learned our lesson last season, we are looking to upgrade David Abal to get an even better climber (preferable from Spain or Portugal).
We want to swap riders but if that fails we will entertain cash offers.
Igor Anton
31 Years Old : € 290,000 : 100th PCT Individual Standings
Anton showing off his good form in the 3rd week of the Tour of America.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 69 | 79 | 74 | 71 | 73 | 77 | 76 | 51 | 53 | 77 | 75 | 62 | 71 |
Anton was our team leader and captain when the team was founded back in 2012. In the two seasons he has been with the team he has used up a majority of his race days trying to win the PCT GT Tour of America. But, to no avail (2nd and 3rd). This year saw a majority of the big mountain races be taken by David Abal leaving Anton frustrated with his role on the team. He is looking for new challenges, but with his reasonable low wage could be enough for the team to hold onto him.
We want respectable cash offers, but would consider a rider swap.
Rui Costa
28 Years Old : € 285,000 : 25th PCT Individual Standings
Costa winning the 2013 Taldykorgan GP.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 70 | 71 | 76 | 76 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 61 | 69 | 72 | 66 | 63 | 76 |
Costa was our co-captain in 2012 and hilly mentor for Barrio in 2013. He is gutsy, likes to sprint, and can time trial. Three things very few riders in the man-game can say they can do. He is the all-time leader in wins here at CSC-Orbea with 4 (yes... that is rather pathetic). That's why we feel it might be time to move on. He is a consistent point scoring in the hills and a Portuguese legend so it's going to be hard to say goodbye.
We currently think a rider swap to the Pro Tour is the only option,
but we will look at the cash offers before making that decision final.

After doing some good business with CSC - Orbea, Bonsucro wish CSC - Orbea all the best for the upcoming season and we will be keeping a close eye on the team.
After a few difficult seasons for the team we have a strong feeling that 2014 will be a good year for your lot. |

You've got a nice team for the mountains this year. I think you have the oldest average team in the game though , so you'll have some rebuilding to do next year. But it should definitely pay off this year.
I'll see you in the mountains!

I don't really know why, but I really like Ruben Plaza at this level. You have a very nice team...
A lot of aging stars, but Fraile will be very nice in the future.

It is an interesting tactic to sign all the climbers who have had stat decreases. Let's see if it pays off for you

Like the heading says, our 2014 transfer season is over. Our final signing:
Francisco Anton Martin
26 Years Old : € 95,000 : 4.100 EXP
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 70 | 66 | 68 | 60 | 73 | 69 | 73 | 58 | 76 | 76 | 66 | 64 | 60 |
2014 Team CSC-Orbea

We feel this squad is capable of great things and can turn our program around.
The veteran core should lead us to great heights and beyond.

It will be difficult to beat your team in the mountains. Just think, you and I will have problems next year due to the age of our best cyclists.
And by the way on average we have very similar teams:
My team- Average - Age: 28.1 / AVG: 72.01

OK CSC are now up there as one of the top PCT squads (with Quickstep) - mre what a turnaround.
Abal could be the new Kritskiy there is always one or two stage racers who dominate things in the Continental ranks and I think he could one of them.
Superb depth of climbing riders and some versatility with Ventoso as well (who was excellent last year for Prio) . Going to follow this teams year with interest.

In our last update we thought our transfer was over. Turns out it wasn't.
Eloy Teruel on His Way Out
The legacy of Travis Newton will live on after the conclusion of The Comeback.
Travis' blog was awarded the best one-rider story of the year in 2013.
His reward? The popular website based a fictional cyclist off him! A true legend.
Newton may not have been the best cyclist, but surely the most influential.
Taylor Newton
26 Years Old : € 50,000 : 4.100 EXP
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 66 | 70 | 67 | 69 | 68 | 66 | 67 | 57 | 64 | 69 | 64 | 75 | 69 |
2014 Team CSC-Orbea
Here at Team CSC-Orbea we honor legends.
When we were founded we brought back Carlos Sastre and Ivan Basso.
In 2013, Basso remained on our roster while Sastre retired a CSC member.
Now in 2014, Basso is expected to retire so we needed a new legend.
Newton isn't your traditional legend though, he is The Legend.
