Thank you again for all positive comments
sutty - It will certainly be a challenge, with some rather large egos around the team
Shonak - Yes, but you'll see why I picked them as the story unfolds And I think the calendar suits him, while not too many race days it has some prestigious races there.
andy222c - Thank you very much that means a great deal coming from a writer like you
Team presentation is now up.

I am writing this from my hotel room in Tenerife as we near the end of the first training camp of the season - there will be more to follow, including a possible return to Tenerife for a longer, two-week session. Here I worked out my season calendar with the senior management (you can see this somewhere near the front of the blog I think) - it’s very ambitious I must say. We had an extensive programme set out for us, including a ride up the Teide volcano road; although I wasn’t feeling particularly well so was unable to complete that particular part of the camp. There are eight riders here including myself, the others present are Chris Froome, Richie Porte, Vasil Kiryienka, Peter Kennaugh, Kosta Siutsou, Dario Cataldo and David Lopez. Bradley Wiggins seems to have scheduled his own plans for the start of the season and the two Colombians, Rigoberto Uran and Sergio Henao, are doing their own high-altitude training back at their home in Colombia.
Our hotel in Tenerife - it looks fantastic, don’t you agree?
This is the first time I have been properly introduced to all the senior management team and all the ethos/mantra speak that perpetrates the team. We had an initiation ceremony where we were all individually handed our power meters, and told that these things would prove to be invaluable during the coming season - at this point I noticed a particular beaming smile on Froome’s face!

After some some lengthy inveigling by my team-mates, I was persuaded to set up a Twitter account, so you might see the occasional update from there, here.

Time for a little monthly review - this might get a bit more fleshed out as the season goes on and more races are raced.
January was a good month to start an ambitious year for Team Sky. Richie Porte came 3rd in an unpredictable Australian Championship that eventually saw Simon Clarke run out a winner.
The Santos Tour Down Under was won by Omega Pharma-Quick Step’s Gianni Meersman, with our Dario Cataldo coming in third after some consistent performances, behind Matti Breschel of Team Saxo-Tinkoff. Thor Hushovd rolled back the years with a surprising victory atop the Old Willunga Hill!
These were the only races the team participated in this month and we currently sit in fourth place in the World Tour rankings, 42 points adrift of Movistar, who are in the lead.
Dario Cataldo put in a good performance Down Under to kickstart Sky's 2013

So, the big question is, how good is the doping program? |

Vuelta a Mallorca 3rd February - 6th February 2013 | 2.1 |
The Vuelta a Mallorca will be my first professional race and I’m very excited to get going. Two pan flat stages are followed by a difficult hilly stage, and then the last stage, which is rated flat but may cause trouble for some.
A whole raft of stars have announced their presence in this race, presumably to start their season with something gentle but not too easy. Vincenzo Nibali, Samuel Sánchez, Alberto Contador and André Greipel are just a few of those names that our team will be up against.
Ah yes, the team - I’d almost forgotten!
Richie Porte
David López
Ian Stannard
Kanstantsin Siutsou
Chambula Dorji
Salvatore Puccio
Richie will lead the team, although we aren’t expecting great things from him as this is basically a warm up race. David and Ian will have free rein, to attack, and we might try and see if Salvatore is capable of a little sprinting in the first two stages.

Stage 3 could be an option for a breakway for the Champ.

Vuelta a Mallorca | Stage 1: Palma - Palma | 2.1 |
A short, flat and fast criterium around the town of Palma kicks this four-day race off - the big favourite for the win today is undoubtedly Greipel of Lotto-Belisol.
We were ready to go! I was sitting there on my bike at the start line, definitely feeling trepidation, but also great excitement, although the profile for today is pan-flat, at least it gives me an opportunity to ease in to life as a professional cyclist.
As soon as we were off I felt a great whoosh of adrenaline surge through my body. The pace at the start seemed unbelievably fast, with all the teams jostling to get a rider into the morning breakaway.
Eventually the pace settled and I got a chance to ride along with Ian Stannard, the British champion. Now I’m quite a diminutive figure, and he’s a huge beast of a man - this photo highlights the size difference between us!
Palma is a picturesque town, one that I'll never forget after this experience
As for the racing itself, not a lot happened until the final sprint, as one might expect on a short flat criterium like this.
The sprint itself was set up by Katusha and Movistar, who both provided trains, but it was Greipel who seized the day, jumping out from behind Rojas' wheel to claim the victory. Out of our boys, Stannard was the one who felt best at the end and decided to get involved in the sprint - after some good positioning he was rewarded with a solid 7th place.
On the other hand, I was just relieved to arrive safely in the middle of the main bunch, with Kosta Siutsou just behind me.

First day at work was kind of an uneventful for the Champ, but those are just part of the deal when becoming a pro cyclist. Greipel very strong but good result by Stannard.
