This is a very difficult parcours to make any sort of predictions from. Obviously Kritskiy is the strongest on paper, but with all those bumps all over the race it could be anyone from the top 10-20 riders who takes the overall.
Stage 4 could be very tricky, and all the favorites will have to stay close. I suspect that one of the faster leaders might take this one. Still that makes Kritskiy (and probably Iglinskiy) the main favorites.

Prio, I thought we made a deal on the offseason that you would give Costa the opening TT and I wouldn't bother you for the rest of the race? This is war now, I need that stage win.
You know my guys were holding up the 1st place for Rui Costa but since he didn't come as a suitable winner, I simply ordered Plaza to win it Anyway I believe Costa has good chances of winning a stage. There are lots of them. Most of which suited to him. Furthermore I can see at least a couple of stages being won by breakaways.
Big surprise for us. There were better prologue riders than Plaza so it's a victory I wasn't counting on. Now it's just a matter of holding it up to the end. No biggie

11th by Lo Cicero. I will not be surprised if he gets a better result at the prologue than in any of the 5 "sprint stages" |

Gretsch has a do run in the prologue but just not quite good enough. Now it time for Chavanel to attack.

Good result for Reus today, was a bit worried when he fell behind. Too bad Gavazzi couldn't hang on, because a yellow jersey might have been possible otherwise.
Now it's fingers crossed for the 'flat' stages.

So close, at least Costa attacked for it. I'm wondering if he would have taken it in a bunch sprint instead. At least the team put our stamp on this stage, hopefully the other hilly stages will be the same, except with a win.

I take it back, another good stage. Kono keeping contact ,and Van Baarle - two jerseys. What a beauty.
Nice to be back in a stage race. Excited for each stage. On to the next!

Good to see Caruso well positioned throughout the day. I was a little afraid his relatively low hill stat would be a problem, so this went above expectations.

Van Baarle continuing his run for KoM jerseys!
Great to see my arguably weakest loanee being rather useful for airBaltic.

Another great result for us, even though we lost the yellow jersey. But this has to come as a strange result to everyone. The final top10 makes it look like it was a mountainous stage. Plaza, Caruso, Kritskiy, Nazaret are clearly riders with abilities that do not match this sort of stage.
I feel Costa deserved this win, but the proximity to the stage victory here only shows he's a force to be reckoned with.
Great report roturn, it was very easy to follow the occurrences of the race.

Very good Vrecer, Silva and Di Gregório, with neither of them losing time. Got a bit worried tough when Vrecer lost touch. Still, his now up top 10th and should climb one or two more positions in the GC. |

This turns out to be a positive stage, Cabreira lost no time as I feared and still managed to put 3 more riders in the front group. Too bad Paulinho has lost so long now, I hope he will venture on next stages.

Kritskiy is single-handedly keeping Tinkoff in the promotion hunt. You can almost feel roturn"s contempt in us reports

Absolutely not.
Pretty sure that Tinkoff, ING and eventually Vueling will still pass me. And just if no one else passes me, I might promote.
Otherwise I stay in the PCT, which wouldn`t be that bad neither. Never planned something different before the season. |

Taking care that I don't have a sprinter, it's a sucessfull stage. Neither of our team's leader's lost time, so a good run today. |

Great start to this race with two keenly contested road stages. Another one for Ventoso you'd think on stage 4 before the bog mountain showdown.
