One thought - I did some testing for a PCM 2012 historical database and found dates prior to 1/1/1970 didn't work. Not sure if you have tested that in 2013. It is possible there are solutions, I did not look hard. But don't go too far without making sure.
I wonder if it's correct to have such high values.
In far back times, riders seemed to be a lot more "general" and far less "specialized".
Also, a rider with 85 TT is far too overrated if you consider how much TT has evolved over the years.
But, and like you said and very well, cycling is a lot different. A lot of today's riders do some outstanding things, but sometimes we forget that they have a whole team behind and back in 61, the team was far less helpful as it is today, so maybe the riders where actually that good. And then there is much better equipment now.
It's all a matter of philosophy that we will never get right, but looks like you are on the right track. You also need to make the DB accurate, but it needs to work with the game's engine.
I can't comment much on the riders as I'm never heard of much of them and it was way before I even started to exist.
Has anyone noticed from the pictures that some of the riders from that like look a bit... let's say "big on the belly"? And now riders have all kinds of cares and nutrition and preparation and back then they probably would head into a bar and have a couple of bears after the race. That must have been epic times.
Would be something special if there was a time machine and get some of those guys from the past to race against today's top men.
I can't help out as I don't know the riders nor can I do any sort of graphics, but wish you best of luck on some fine work.

About the value, are so big for the best riders, and lower for the other, for example Anquetil, that in my opinion has been the best cronoman ever, was able to give more then three or four minutes to the rivals, more than on climbs, was like Indurain: with that value (compared to the others) Anquetil can make that difference!
Anyway I will release a demo with a playable stage soon!
Complete all the things that needs (especially stages) it will be a long hard work, so I decide to release a demo in the next days, so can taste the quality of the patch . In this demo I think to put in the Giro 1961 teams with one stage and the World Cup 1961 with national teams, you can also value all the cyclists of the database in this way
This demo let you try the final Mod about 1961 Cycling season.

Copy the Contentsthe contents of "Pro Cycling Manager - Stagione 2013" into the main directory of the game.

I've just read the comments on youtube The prologue value is all the same for all the cyclists (55) simply becouse there wasn't prolugues so they needn't!

The works about the 1961 are going on slowly but constantly. Now 4/21 of Giro 1961 are complete.
Meanwhile I want to introduce an add-on for the 1961 db called The Race of Champions.
The race of champions db will give you the possibily to run with the best cycling team of the history and best champions during a classic calendar or taking part to a very hard stage race. Or with the variant of the national teams.

Do you? I think to swap this value to 55 becouse there wasn't short time trial in 1961, also in a stage-race like parigi nizza there was a 68km itt and a 25 time trial. Anyway I could swap that value into the same of time trial value
