Yes, congrats to those who have far more important things to be worrying about! Holidays and all that are of course fine too, Im not expecting over the top activity, Im not exactly active at the moment either.

When following a race it's hard to keep track of everything happening to every team, especially in stage races. So the more managers highlighting their own team's story of the race in the discussion thread, the more interesting the race in my opinion. It'd be cool if more people did this.
The downside to writing a lot in the threads is that writing a race review for the HQ usually feels like repeating myself.
Another downside of the HQ is that there is a very low amount of interaction there, making you question who you are doing all this (repeat) writing for.
The problem as I see it is that there are some managers who disappear, and then most of the rest only post in the discussion threads to comment on their team - and this isn't always after every stage.
It sums up to a not overly active community, and a more activity community would be nicer, as it makes the work behind the game feel a bit more worthwhile. People may assume the game will go on 'forever', but there's no guarantee of that.
At present, the only real other place to post is Team HQs so this is a bit of an artificial attempt to see if they can come to life a little more - its a slippery slope that nobody posts, so the few who were doing so stop doing it too.

Maybe we other could help poeple to post more in their HQ's aswell, by commenting on stuff the others write? I would be more inclined to post if poeple would comment

Yep, i believe this is heart of the problem. Honestly. As last year,i was reporting every friggin race in my HQ, sponsor speculations and so and i got like three comments from other managers during the whole year (thnaks a lot to those!). Motivation to write six pages of reports, which took me days, is low, when nobody comments, it is like with story.
I feel i commented a lot in other people threads, you can look, i have at least a post in almost every HQ that was somewhat running. But also after my comment, manager does not seem interested in my input in majority of cases and did not respond.
But you cant force people to do it because they should, hopefully it will come naturally and there will be more life in the man-game. So i will start with myself and will update my HQ within few weeks and i will return to post more in other teams thread (as i quite follow every active team and have my oppinions on them). Maybe i will get some answers too.
Just wanted to say i understand you possible frustration comletely SN. You and the reporters has to put a lot into this game and it would be nice to see it more vivid.

I'm still here as well. First Erasmus, then the come back/holidays and now trying to find a job is taking most of my time, so I have been nowhere nearly as active as last season. I'm hoping this may change in the near future, and even be back to reporting races, but I can't assure when.

Maybe the Man-Game could be brought to more people on the site? Right now, if you're not part of the Man-Game, it's just so distant and you don't really care about it, mostly. Maybe something can be found that the entire site gets more into it, without actually participating or something?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but it seems this discussion is going on here so that's just my input. |

Still here as well, and happy to be successfully keeping my thread monthly updated.
But this time of the year is always a big bummer due to everyone being on vacations and all. I find July and August to be a bit dull every year, but from September onwards things usually get more dynamic and interesting.

Fair point, I've just thought of a couple of ideas too.
But Id have thought that some level of participation is required for any real interest to be had?

Getting it into the weekly news is a good step, as for me before I joined the game I didn't pay much interest as I didn't really know what it was. Maybe getting people involved in things like Avenir, The WC and the crits as team selectors could be an idea? |

This.
It's hard to keep the motivation of posting if you barely get any responses. It feels like you are just waisting your time. Then again, to gain some responses you have to put some quality in (which I didn't manage in my last posts (I guess my story writing skills are gone )). People shouldn't comment just for the sake of posting something.
Also, @gregory

I think it too...but Ian guessed this, involve the part who don't take part with something (jph's suggestion is a geat idea for an example). In this way Man Game could be a bit more active...this is just my opinion and lately i'm not very active in the forum so i don't know how much can count. |
