Passeron did it again. He is a perfect breakaway rider. Last year he got several good GC and stage positions this way. This year it will be harder. With a better team my team isn`t looking for the breakaway that often this season.
So this was a pretty perfect stage.
Only Geschke again doing nothing in the sprint and on the stage in general is unlucky planning from me. Hoffman again being in the puncheur group is weird. At least there is a long time trial this time. |

Puncher group? 103 riders finished together.

I meant the group of top favourites on the front of the group where Hoffman was still sitting relaxed. |

Yeah, he seems to be perfectly positioned whole year so far. I still think there is stamina playing some role in every stage (he has 76) , but i was said many times it does not, so dont know, maybe his 76 flat saving him some energy.
Or yellow gives him wings.

As soon as I saw Passeron in the break I knew he had it. Such a brilliant breakaway rider for this game. Just good enough to be better than most other breakaway riders but not so good to be considered a major threat. I think he took Turkey last year the same way?

One stage and 2nd overall in Turkey this way.
A 2nd and 8th overall in Bayern as well.
Will be hard to repeat this with my team often chasing for riders like Bellis, Boom, Vantomme or Geschke. Last season it was different as I often had only outside favourites in Hermans for example. |

Hmm... I don't quite recall why I signed Dekker up for this, but well - at least makes the race interesting to follow |

Can't be too sad about that, I'm sure that Zabriskie will be able to gain enough time on Bibby and Linus on the final TT.

The team fought hard and it paid off. Great rides from Costa, Barrio, and especially Fraile. Very happy, didn't expect to get such a good team performance with such stiff competition.

Nice stage, but with some rather stupid moves and positioning though.
Pakthusov is always attacking near the finish, that is nice, but he never gets a gap, he only attacks when the tempo is highest, why?
Popkov is very consistent, but never better than 8th, i still wait for him to surprise any day. I hope he will be part of top 10 in the end, but Zabriskie and Boom are coming from behind, so we will need to dislodge someone from current top 10 in the TT.
Edit:Judging from TT abilities, Popkov should be exactly 10th after the TT, so that would be okay for us.
Anyway nice report. And congrats to Tinkoff!

Yeah, atleast my riders tried. I can still hope for a Top 10. (I think only TOp 8 get points, but cant remember off the top of my head and too close to bed to check, but preferably Hatanaka can get that. )
Enjoying the reports too!
Edit: Ah thanks Avin and Tsmoha.
Top 30 not Top 8 A little bit more chance of grabbing some points then.

For GC? I believe first 30 get some points, top8 is only for stages. And as i calculated that, top 9 in GC is pretty much settled now, with first seven now in GC + Boom and Zabriskie, then maybe Popkov and worse TTists from actual top 25.
Edit: Oh and i forgot Niemec, who should fight for that 10th spot with Popkov.

Top-8 is only for stages in stage-races. For GC, the Top-30 is getting some points. So he would get points anyway .

Well that was dissapointing from Fonte...
Just hope he can get a few points now, and the hope Polivoda can do something in the final stage...

Great report even though my team wasn`t doing very well.
Not sure if Ruijgh was the leader on this stage or Passeron was avoiding Boom to ride on his own...
In the end I surely lost the podium here. Have to hope that Boom can gain enough time on Gerdemann and Bibby. But I doubt it, so even a top 5 might be gone...Anything less than a 6th after the GC would be a disappointing.
Haven`t expected this climb to be that hard. Probably caused by Kritskiy and Dekker, who I haven`t expected here. |

Well done by Dekker, screwing up that stage win. Guess I should be happy he made it back after somehow losing contact, but still ... should have won and preferably distanced Kritskiy. |

Good result for Gerdemann, the gap should be big enough to secure a Top5.
