Ian: Thought about it but decided against it. I've actually done the Ventoux stage first, just because I could, even though it's the fourth stage
Screens to come later
Oh and provisional route:
Stage | Start | Finish | Type | Notes | 1 | Nice | Nice | Prologue | Short prologue around Nice | 2 | Nice | Saint-Tropez | Flat | Flat stage with a few bumps | 3 | Cogolin | Gardanne | Flat | Going inland - similar to stage before | 4 | Aix-en-Provence | Mont Ventoux | Mountain | Flat, then up | 5 | Sisteron | Briancon | Mountain | Couple of small climbs, then Col d'Izoard, then descent into Briancon |
Then I'm debating whether to have a hilly stage or a MTT, maybe up the Col de la Bonnette, or maybe both if I have the time

Provence Tour is a good concept! Maybe room for the Gorges du Verdon as well? The most amazing landscape throughout France, in my opinion. |

Thanks Maybe, I'll see what I can come up with, it would definitely be great to look at even in PCM

I've managed to get round to doing the prologue after a heated argument with the Stage Editor about cliffs and water in general.
A 6 kilometre dash along the coastline in the bay is what kicks the tour off, with a slight incline towards the end
IBs so I could put all those chalets in and make it look a bit more like a Provencal coastal town than the boring generic cities

'The Ventoux Stage'
Start town for this stage is Aix-en-Provence
The town of Sarrians, about 2/3rds of the way along the route
Picturesque village of Sablet (used to have a house here )
Intermediate sprint in Carpentras
Wending our way through some leafy French countryside
The town of Bedoin, at the foot of the climb
View of the last third of the climb
Finish line
There we go - I’m pretty happy with it, the slopes turned out well apart from the end where it kicks up a little bit more than it’s supposed to but it’s still fine overall
Right, got to get to work on stage 2 & 3 now

Seems like a tough finish
I like that you used more IB's than towns. |

Ian: Yep I do try and use more IBs as, like everyone says, they look much better than the generic cities but it is soo time consuming
sutty: Thanks Venroux? That's a new one!
Still continuing some slow work on this (although I'm quite busy with my story - *plug alert* click on the banner in my sig to have a look *plug over*) but I've recently decided to do a small project on a fantasy race - Tour of the Lake District. Spent a few days there recently and the scenery and roads there are just magnificent so I'm going to make a 3-stage race around it. First stage up fairly soon I think

The first stage starts in Kendal and loops its way round a few of the lakes to finish on Loughrigg Fell, a very short and very steep climb. The route incorporates a circuit which includes the difficult side of Wrynose Pass and the less difficult side of Hardknott.
Hardknott with Wrynose in the background
I'm quite proud of this little country pub actually
Church with graveyard (inspired by an idea of Margh Norway's)
Village of Coniston (all towns/villages are made out of IB's apart from Kendal at the start)
Finish line - PCM recognised that gap as well
Please feel free to give some feedback on what you like/don't like/what could be improved and the next couple of stages will be up soon

Wow, those IB's and definitely that pub are great!
Looks really cool, could I see a shot of the road around the lakes? |

Thanks
Oh I meant that the route sort of went round the lakes - there isn't much road on the actual lakeside and it's not particularly interesting really

Good job with the IBs. As I've said before, it's really worth the extra effort.
Would be even better if you changed the narrow roads to two-lanes instead, however.

Juan: Thanks a lot
Pelli: Definitely Most of the roads around the area are actually really narrow so I was kinda confused as to what to do - I know narrow roads aren't that good - but I'll take your advice and change them (apart from the finish which I think is okay - it's a small 1km hill that basically goes up a dirt track )
sutty: Thanks - it's a really nice part of the country (even though it rains all the time there - bit like Wales )
Jakstar: I was planning to just release the tour when I finished but if you want that particular stage I can upload it to mediafire or something if you want
Stage 2 in the works - finishes on a [2-lane] Hardknott
