Van der Lijke brings us few points, the same way he did in Australia. I am liking that Hopefully he'll go for the KoM later in the race as well.

This was a weird sprint. When I saw a Rothaus rider I was pretty sure it would be Van Heerden. And maybe Bellis but I never had the idea that Iglinski would sprint here. And so I am even more surprised/impressed to see him sprinting on the podium.
I wished Bellis would have sprinted at least as the stage positions might become important...
I somehow have the feeling that Bellis kind of riders were far more worth in PCM11 than in PCM12.
Last season I made sure I never picked a rider in a race with Bellis who had a better sprint stat, that way if anyone from my team was going to sprint on the flat, it would be him. If youve put the likes of Iglinski and Van Heerden in more of his races, that might limit chances of him grabbing any time bonuses on flat stages

Absolutely disastrous by Armavia. Had big hopes when I saw us forming a sprint train for the first time ever, but then I found out Lo Cicero ended 53rd(?)....
Atleast Sohrabi grabbed a top 10, but it's simply not enough as this stage was one of the easier in the tour. We'll have to make this up at a later stage. (I have no idea how )
Excellent performance by Nolan Hoffmann and Metinvest nonetheless, and a deserved victory. Nice reporting mb

I did it in other races where I want to avoid that he is waiting for others.
But it might happen in 2-3 other races as well as I haven`t really seen that coming that Iglinski is rated as sprinter...
Also it will be interesting how the combination Bellis/Geschke in some races will work. I hard races Bellis should be the leader but in races like this? We`ll see.
As long as Bellis is my leader here on the hills grabbing bonus seconds there I don`t mind. |

Wow, dream coming true for Hoffman and Metinvest straight in the first stage of his home country tour, great teamwork and three in top 10, nice. Hopefully Hoffman will keep holding with best on the rolling stages, at least those easier ones and fight for more points, that is really important, as Count pointed out.
We are stage hunting here, so yellow jersey for some days is just a nice bonus, i am sure home crowd is happy that it is South African. Maybe even the reporter is happy?
Edit: Yeah, the sprint was pretty weird, but as long at it results for three top 10's for us, i dont mind.

Exactly what I hoped from this stages, Bole getting in the mix, really can't get more until we get to the hills.
Congrats Avin.

I don't really expect too much from this, just a few showings in breakaways, maybe a few top 10's in sprint stages and if I'm lucky a top 15 in the overall.

Congratulations Avin, I'm sure Hoffman will continue to prove himself as a very smart acquisition in future stages.

Interesting thoughts, I don't think I've taken that aspect into consideration. That will come in handy for next season's planning with Ventoso.

Great to see Van der Sande up there. Talent.
And Schreurs in top 10 too. He's ready |

Bit disappointed with our race: No breakaway and no rider in the top20! The stage turned out much harder than I thought. Oh well, didn't have any expectations anyway!

Would like to get the season startet pointwise, with a top result from Roche and please, no more crashes (even though that's quite much to ask for).
At least good to see the team keep our man up in the front of the peleton.

Even though Vansummeren was in the mid stage break I'm glad that it didn't win. That was the biggest problem last year so if it is fixed this year then that is great. What a weird stage though.

Yeah, it was pretty odd how quickly the break was caught in the last 20km. They just sat up.
I'm also not convinced by how strong some of the domestiques are up the hills.

knew this stage was too hard for Lo Cicero, but really amazed to see all the time gaps made out of this stage. The peloton must have been riding really hard! Even our puncher Tamayo Martinez couldn't follow in the end, and that was the major disappointment for us today.
Nice win by Schreurs and really good effort by Hoffmann to keep the yellow jersey. |

Stupid timegaps. Already all but 1 of my riders are 10 minutes back, which is insanely stupid. I am getting quite mad at PCMs AI where the favourites make their move and if you aren't a favourite, you just sit in a massive autubus that rides at 10km/h.
Who knows if it will end up being a problem though.
