From the Vacansoleil-DCM website:
Boy Van Poppel is Vacansoleil's 7th rider
Wesley Kreder won't start because of his elbow, Willem Wauters is taking his place. |

Gerrans, Goss, Haas and S.Clarke do all start for the Australian National team in todays Herald Sun Tour. They most likely already do early race preparation and should be in good form later this month. So Gerrans surely belongs to the biggest favourites for the TdU. |

I was at the Sun Tour prologue today, Gerrans, Clarke and Haas all put in good times and I dare say Gerrans is on form early again. The winner was Jordan Kerby who is a very good young rider and clearly in good condition

As expected Andre Greipel will once again start his season in Down Under and has a brilliant sprint train behind him with Roelandts, Henderson and Sieberg.
Also Tyler Farrar and the Euskaltel team are confirmed.
Even when the race is harder than last year, I expect some nice sprint finishes between Greipel, Goss, Farrar, Boasson Hagen/Sutton, Hutarovych etc. |

Don't forget Guardini who could do good. Roberto Ferrari will also be fighting for the sprint finishes. |

Pretty sure I forgot several sprinters in my short list. Like Matthews for example, who normally is doing well there. I at least guess he will start.
Not too sure about Guardini. Maybe on 1-2 stages. But in general the stages might be too hard for him. |

Kittel will start his season in Down Under. He should make the sprints more interesting.
Actually I had hoped that they send someone like Degenkolb, who could fight for the overall.
And RadioShack with a pretty strong squad as well. Not sure who will lead them. I guess Ben Hermans could have a good shot. |

According to this article https://www.nu.nl/sport/2997984/kittel...under.html, Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg will ride the TDU for Argos instead of Hupond. |

Slightly surprising selection for Greenedge, considering Matthews seems to be the sprinter in form for them at the moment.
Daryl Impey
Jens Mouris
Luke Durbridge
Matt Goss
Simon Clarke
Simon Gerrans
Stuart O’Grady

Had expected Matthews instead of Impey or Mouris. |

Fun with Ahlstrand, guess he will help Kittel here.
Maybe my faded interest for cycling can bounce back up with new fresh Swedish cyclist
Maybe time to get the "cyclingchannel" back |

Comprising six Spanish riders and French cyclist Juan José Oroz, Euskatel-Euskadi will hit the road to stake its claim on the first UCI WorldTour event of 2013.
I know Euskaltel started signing foreigners but Basque riders becoming foreigners...

Last year final GC:
1 Simon Gerrans (Aus) GreenEDGE 20:46:12
2 Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Movistar
3 Tiago Machado (Por) RadioShack-Nissan 0:00:08
4 Michael Rogers (Aus) Sky Procycling 0:00:14
5 Rohan Dennis (Aus) UNI SA - Australia
6 Jan Bakelants (Bel) RadioShack-Nissan 0:00:16
7 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Sky Procycling 0:00:18
8 Javier Moreno (Spa) Movistar 0:00:23
9 Michael Matthews (Aus) Rabobank 0:00:29
10 Eduard Vorganov (Rus) Katusha 0:00:32
If Andy will not race to win, i hope Shack will let Machado get those 8 seconds back! But we will have to wait until January 26. |
