Ekspla-Cision to be laughing stock?
A lithuanian newspaper posted an article yesterday, which suggested that Ekspla-Cisions big ambitions and actual dealings didn't match.
They expressed, that they are very concerned with the lack of quality in the team, and feel that MrDemus might have concentrated on way too many areas to suceed in any of them.
Neither the directors nor MrDemus had any comments, but it will be exciting to see, whather these grim predictions are true or not.

Said about Ekspla-Cision
Several reviews have been made on the Continental Tour. Here is what has been said so far about Ekspla-Cision.
Heine:
Ekspla-Cision
Mountains: **
Hills: ***
TT: **
Cobbles: **
Sprints: ***
Strenght: **
In my opinion one of the weaker teams. Yes they got a leader for all categories, but no top guys. Their climber is Rudaskov, a nice climber, but it stops there. Their hilly leader is Cioban, and he actually got some support, so he could actually be the teams best point scorer (or atleast the hilly team could). On the sprinter side they got Saramotins and Friedman. Okay sprinters, but nothing spectacular. They also got a cobble-team lead by Stevenson, that could score some points but not alot. I believe this team hurts under a goal of having riders for every dicipline, a tip from me for next season is to focus more.
DubbelDekker
To sum up: Cioban is not as good as Ekspla-Cision would like to believe.
Smowz
Ekspla-Cision will finish as number 17 of 22 in the CT.

Nationality: Lithuanian-Swedish
Last Season: Div 2 – 12th (as Ekspla-Maxima Cycling Team)
The Team:
This is one of those teams which has an impressive amount of depth without having any big leaders. Sergey Rudaskov was a good buy for the team and should be capable of scoring fairly consistently in C2 races. Similarly, Gert Joeaar is a very strong time trialist at this level and climbs much better than most other TT riders making him very useful in week long stage races. There is decent support for him in the hills, though the same can’t be said about Rudaskov in the mountains. One of those riders who can support but will probably get his own chances is Sergiu Cioban who has a great hilly stat and, while he may lack the stamina to win any classics, should be around when it counts.
There are a number of fairly cheap sprinters in this team with Aleksei Saramotins being perhaps the most interesting. Though he may not be as much of a pure sprinter as most of the riders in this division, he can climb much better than most and as such should probably be able to score a few podiums this season. Christopher Stevenson will also be a name to watch in C2 cobbled races given that he is also decent on hills.
Turning to the goals, the Boras Runt is much flatter than the stage profile would lead you to believe and as such could go to one of those sprinters who can’t climb. Unfortunately Ekspla doesn’t quite have any good enough to win it. Vilnius GP on the other hand should suit someone like Saramotins perfectly so watch out for him there. And in the Baltic Chain Tour the chances of a stage win are rather slim but with the nationality bonus on some riders you never know what could happen. The top 15 in the Europe Tour is optimistic, given the huge number of races that need to be covered and the high quality of opposition. Finally, with this team I’m not sure if the 10 stage wins will be possible. There are plenty of sprinters but I get the feeling that they will mostly be aiming for the minor places.
Hot Prospect:
Evaldus Siskevicus will be an excellent puncheur in a couple of years and the perfect leader for this team. The team has a lot of other talents too, so if they can’t promote this year then they will have a stronger team next year anyway.
In Summary:
Plenty of points to be scored this season and it should be a good year all round but the lack of a true leader will limit chances.

Ekspla-Cision season kicks off in France
Ekspla-Cision have started their season with the french stage race Tour de Bretagne. The team will aim to be very visible and hopefully take a stage win.
The race consists of 7 stages in varid terrain. From the very flat to hills over cobbles. It will test the width of the teams skills.
The squad they have selected is as follows:
31. Mike Friedman
32. Johan Broberg
33. Mattia Gavazzi
34. Andrei Krasilnikau
35. Alex Meenhorst
36. Alexander Porsev
37. Evaldas Siskevicius
It is apparent that this multi national squad will mainly aim for the sprints with a strong team consisting of Friedman, Gavazzi, Meenhorst and Porsev. Siskevicius will look to get help from Broberg and Krasilnikau in the hills, but will have to do most of the work himself.

Tour de Bretagne stage 1
This rather flat stage will mark the beginning of the Ekspla-Cision season. There are some rolling hills, but they shouldn't bother the sprinters too much.
Only 63 riders are registered for the race, and it will be interesting to see a race with this few teams.
Italian rider Mattia Gavazzi gave all at the beginning of the stage to gain points and seconds from the sprints during the stage, but he didn't have much luck with that mission.
With Gavazzi most likely out of the final sprint, the team will have to look towards one of the three other finishers in the squad.
Gavazzi works for the team towards the end, and looks to place american Mike Friedman in the sprint. Russian Alexander Porsev seems to have been given a free chance to place himself.
Both Friedman and Porsev tries very hard, but they can't overtake Kappa-ENI's Francisco Lasca.
Top 10 and Ekspla-Cision riders:
1 | Francisco Lasca | Kappa-ENI | 4h11'36 | 2 | Mike Friedman | Ekspla-Cision Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Filipe Cardoso | Team Privatbank | s.t. | 4 | Alexander Porsev | Ekspla-Cision Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Marcos Crespo | Vattenfall Cycling | s.t. | 6 | Geoffroy Lequatre | FC Barcelona - Estrella Damm | s.t. | 7 | Thiago Duarte Nardin | Team Gazelle | s.t. | 8 | Blaz Furdi | Team Gazelle | s.t. | 9 | Patrik Moren | Vattenfall Cycling | s.t. | 10 | Mattia Gavazzi | Ekspla-Cision Cycling Team | s.t. |
22. Evaldas Siskevicius s.t.
33. Alex Meenhorst s.t.
39. Andrei Krasilnikau s.t.
49. Johan Broberg s.t.
In the GC Friedman is 3rd, 10 seconds behind leader Lasca. Porsev is 7th.

Very good start for your team in Britanny, with three in the top 10. Hopefully for you, it will get even better and Friedman will win some, good luck.
Oh and see you in San Luis, one of the only three races, where our teams will meet this year ( Sudkarnten,Baltic Chain Tour).

Tour de Bretagne stage 2
After yesterdays rather great stage, Ekspla-Cision is looking to repeat the succes, and hopefully improve.
Once again a stage without much action besides the intermediate sprints. Porsev, Gavazzi and Friedman all tried but didn't gain much at all.
Ekspla-Cision are betting on many horses at the finish line. Porsev, Gavazzi and Friedman are all looking to try their luck.
At the finish Friedman is once again the strongest Ekspla man, but it's only enough for a fourth place. Filipe Cardoso of Team Privatbank was way too strong today.

Tour de Bretagne stage 3
Another flat stage, where Ekspla-Cision will look towards their many sprinters to gain a podium, and hopefully a win. Friedman has been looking strong, to look in his direction at the finish line.
For the third day in a row, there's not much action besides the intermediate sprints.
Mike Friedman tries his luck in some of them to try to improve his fourth place in the points standing.
Once again all three fast men is there when it counts.
Today they didn't get lucky at the tricky finish, and Evaldas Siskevicius ended up their best man.
