The Vikings had by far their best performance of the preseason in week 1, beating maybe the Super Bowl favourites, albeit by a small margin. Troy Smith a free agent pick-up has quickly shown he's ready to push Christian Ponder for the starting job, as he had 0 INTs 1 passing TD a rushing TD and 155 passing yards in 2 quarters of play.
Dont worry, the results get much worse from here on in. Ponder and Smith both had 2 interceptions, a real let down for the team, and Vince Young had 2 TD's and 157 yards throwing for the Bills, which as the deciding factor in this one.
Week 3 had the Vikings airing it out, and it was certainly their strong point. Troy Smith had 242 passing yards, and his leading WR was Stephen Burton with 113 yards on 7 receptions. Troy Smith was also able to score a rushing TD, so he really was out star of the game.
This was a real blowout, and a frustrating game to watch if you are a Vikings fan. Sure, Troy Smith did have 335 passing yards, but he was also picked off 4 times. There was also no running game, as Gerhart continues to look a little short on coonfidence. Stephen Burton continued to be the top Vikings receiver, this time with exactly 100 yards receiving, but Kyle Rudolph, the TE also scored the only touchdown.
You know, the first few weeks have definitely been awful, but Adrian Petersen and Ponder have both been on the bench for the better part of all the games. The passing game is also there, but there need to be fewer INT's and more catches as well as less drops by receivers in the open. If it continues, the team may be forced to look at Free Agent options, like Johnny Knox, Brandon Gibson or Lee Evans.

Regarding Jason Avant... the Eagles were the only team that wanted Henne. And we were trying to get rid of him to keep Gabbert happy that his job was safe. And Shaun Rogers, well, we just needed a big fat guy clogging up the line. And yes Madden was drinking a little too much when they did his stats.

Because it's preseason, and whether your third stringers are better than another team's third stringers has very little to do with the quality of the team overall.
Plus Valv could have just left his starters in all game...
Question. If Ponder, AP, MJD, or Gabbert got injured long term in the preseason, would you guys have started over

Probably not... Considering we knew what was at stake so I made sure MJD didn't play a down (I mean he was on lockout ) And looking at the player stats valv barely played his starters as well.

I was playing my starters all 4 quarters just trying to get 1 touchdown by the end of it
No, I mean, I am bad at this, but my subs were actually in.
Plus the game changes the palyers for you, and tbh its way too much work to put your starters back in, although Pedersen was played as a WR sometimes, for some reason.

And sure. It is frustrating, and its good in a way, but part of the appeal for me, is playing each other. I guess if it comes to it (maybe in a months time) we could just sim.
