This is No Vacation - Vacansoleil - Etoile de Besseges
SweatyViking

We take a day in the peloton, to focus 100% on Boeckmans.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu31.png
Boeckmans is however in a far from ideal position under the flamme rouge after a poor lead-out by Markus....¨

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu32.jpg
Hinault takes the win, Boeckmans gets 4th.

Stage 4

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu41.jpg
With 2 more KOMs on offer, Marczynski goes with the break of 8 and takes the points at the first climb. So far, so good.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu42.jpg
And our Polish champion shows his strengths at the final KOM, leaving all the others in the jaws of the peloton.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu43.jpg
Our brave Pole pushes on after the climb but gets caught 6 km from the line.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu44.jpg
Markus leaves Boeckmans in a perfect position under the flamme rouge. Is this our day?

One positive though, Marczynski trades his beautiful Polish champion jersey with the (not so) beautiful KOTM jersey Grin

Stage 5

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdus5pr.png

The infamous, dreaded Willunga Hill stage...

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu51.jpg
Marczynski goes for a day's vacation at the back to save up for tomorrow's stage with 2 KOM's.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu52.jpg
No off-day for Mortensen, though, who takes off with the Willunga Express.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu53.jpg
Meersman has a gap to the others, including a struggling Mortensen with 3 km to go, with the pack a little further behind (more than what it looks like)

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu54.jpg
Mortensen somehow fights back while the other riders in the group hit the wall.. But inside the final 300 m, the strongest riders in the peloton come back and Mortensen only gets 4th Sad

Forgot to export...

Stage 6
i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdus6pr.png

2 goals today: Secure Marczynski's jersey and win the stage with Boeckmans.

A group 7 gets the OK, no threat to Marczynski's jersey, perfect for us Smile

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu61.jpg
The Vacansoleil train, this time with Mortensen inMarkus' role is in a perfect position with 3 km to go...

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/tdu62.jpg
Is this finally our day?? Grin

BOECKMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice job Pfft

PS pressing ² (next to 1) will make the circle around the rider disappear Wink

Grand Prix La Marseillaise

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/marpr.jpg

Vacansoleil:

Poels (Captain)
Westra
Selvaggi
Mol
Marcato
Pavarin
Ligthart

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar1.jpg
110 km to go: The manager knows from previous experiences that breaks often stay away in this race, so Selvaggi goes into the BOTD with Lombardi, Tulik and Delaroziere, with our Italian as the strongest on paper.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar2.jpg
50 km: The four musketeers have a lead of 3.45 as they go over the highest point of today..

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar3.jpg
18 km:As the leaders start the final climb of the day, the four are still in front by 1:14...

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar4.jpg
10 km:Selvaggi has a small gap to a group of 10-15 or so, including Poels, with the peloton right behind. Mirko will briefly be joined by Tiernan-Locke and Quinziato on the descent, but the group with Poels catches up soon thereafter.

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar5.jpg
2.5 km:But out of nowhere, a tiny rocket named Dumoulin blows past everyone and opens up a huge gap...

i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p639/SweatyViking/mar6.jpg
However, he hits the wall inside the final kilometre and is passed by Hinault. Poels sprints to a nice third.

DS' corner: Good job in the break by Selvaggi, shame it didn't stay away. Good sprint by Poels for third, though.

8/10

Devenyns suspended

www.cyclismactu.net/img/galerie/wXLSLq2tc4ef-dries_devenyns.JPG

Omega Pharma-Quickstep rider Dries Devenyns has been suspended by the UCI pending the test results of his B-sample. Devenyns tested positive for EPO after the Tour de San Luis in January. The Belgian hasn't been suspended by his team yet, though.
