that's not the point
a team hired him anyway.

Not exactly the same. Basso only wanted to dope, but never did |

I agree. someone will hire him. as long as he isn't banned immediately. and if he is, he'll have offers for when he comes back. just like Basso.

I thought so too, but look at zutcorp's post earlier this morning. apparently, that's not the case.

Funny thing is that all are now denying that there's a postive test for dynepo. The French lab and the French anti doping federation deny that they have even spoken with Le Equipe. |

that's pretty strange. but since McQuaid acknowledged it, it has to be true.

One has to remember who owns L'equipe when one considers this.
starts with A ends with O :-D
So, perhaps they have ulterior motives.
I dont think he'll get convicted since the test isnt official yet, and therefore, I suppose, not good enough as evidence. But well see what happens during the next weeks.
Still, I was 90% sure he was doped yesterday, now I ten toward 98%.

There's no valid test for dyn-EPO at all, legally speaking, so no test can't give a positive. But that's just playing with words probably. |

I'm struggling to remember precedents of positives for non-homologated tests. do you remember any? were they convicted or were they just kept under close eye from then on?

"means to illegally enchance you oxygen intake"
Key word here is "illegally". If it isn't listed as an illegal substance, how can he be in trouble for using it? There are lots of things you can do to increase your oxygen intake (such as excercise or living at high altitudes). I'm guessing there are regular dietary intakes that can have an affect on oxygen intake as well. (Though I've never bothered to look). Heck, taking care of a medical problem can cause increases (for example, acid reflux hinders oxygen intake, so antacids can help if you have that problem).
There are so many things that are commonly taken as remedies in normal life that you HAVE to have a list of what isn't allowed. |

the "illegally" was my admittedly shaky translation.
DynEpo is covered as doping under the "coverall" paragraph of enhancing your blood illegally.
however the test isnt good enought (yet) to be counted as proof, and is therefore inadmissable.
So all that is left is to run with the whole whereabouts mess, which I presume UCi etc. will do if they in any way can!

They don't need to suspend Rasmussen, think about it, his reputation is in tatters and he will probably NEVER ride for a high level continental team much less a high level Pro Tour team. No big name sponsor wants his baggage. At best, he might earn maybe if he's lucky 50 to 100 thousand bucks/40-80 thousand euro a year. |

So you're saying that the world of cycling has changed much since Tinkoff hired Hamilton, since Discovery hired Basso, etc., etc.? |

nope, sorry. at worst, he'll be signed by one of the top continental sides. he'll get a big team, and he most likely will be at the Tour next year. unfortunately that's how I see it.

The organizers will probably try to exclude Rasmussen, but CAS will overturn the decision |

As long as he presented his blood pass, yes, but I don't think they are going to let him in without making a case out of it. |
