Tour of California: stage 1
The goal for Rabobank is to keep Dekker at the front the whole day and make sure he finishes with the first favourites.
Attacks on the final hill by Illiano, Gadret and Monfort were pulled back by Dekker and made up for a 5 men strong favourites group. Scheirlinckx is a teammate for Monfort.
These 5 sprinted for the win and it was Gadret who edged out Scheirlinkx and Illiano. Dekker came in as 4th.
Barbosa leads home a group with Rujano, Giunti and Ignatiev. They came in 40" behind the leader.
Top 5
A good start for Rabo and Dekker. Finishing 4th is great considering this is his first race day this season.

@Ian Butler: Thanks, Dekker could easily follow all attacks.
@ruben: There is one so he should easily take time on the others there!
@sutty68: Thanks
Tour of California: Stage 2
This stage is only downhill or flat and should suit Brown very well.
The break of the day was break brought back by 3 teams. Liberty Seguros (Barbosa), Tinkoff (Hondo) and Barloworld (Hunter) had no fear of the dark clouds.
Brown immediately chose the wheel of Hunter and that was a good choice. Hunter is the frist sprinter in the wheel of his teammates Sabido and Degano.
Brown couldn't challenge Hunter as he was clearly the strongest. Rabo's Aussie put up a great fight and finished 6th.
Top 5
Brown had a good position but wasn't able to challenge the best. 6th is still a good result.

Tour of California: Stage 3
A second flat stage so Brown will try to do better as yesterday.
A large break of 13 today but the same 3 teams as yesterday (Tinkoff, Liberty Seguros and Barloworld) brought them back.
Brown was again in Hunter's wheel but the lead out failed and a lot of riders overtook them. Hunter could still jump to the front but he came just to late to win. Barbosa was stronger and closes in in the GC. Brown finished outside the top 10.

Too bad for the sprinters.
Let's hope Dekker does better in the hills! |

Tour of California: Stage 4
A tougher hilly stage as the finish is after 5 kms at around 8%. Dekker will try to follow the best here.
The break of the day with some good names as Aerts, Cheula, Muravyev and Ignatiev still had a small advantage at the start of the final climb.
Leader Gadret started the attacks as the escapees were in sight. Illiano, Zabriskie and Rujano tried to follow as Dekker keeped his own pace.
Illiano jumped past Gadret and overtook everyone. Cheula is behind him while Gadret is with some other early escapees. Dekker is leading the bigger group with most other favourites.
Nobody could close the gap to the Italian as Illiano takes a nice victory for his Ceramica team. He is also the new leader.
Gadret took second some seconds in front of a first group with Barbosa, Cheula, Dekker, Monfort and Rujano. They lost a minute to today's winner.

GC
Dekker wasn't great losing time to Illiano and Gadret but he can take back that time in the TT.

Can you just try to put the Rabobank names in Orange in the reports? To make it easier to read. Dekker will be able to recover in the TT I hope.

@Schleck96: I Will
@Ian Butler: Thanks!
@sutty68: I will try so!
Tour of California: Stage 5
A long stage with some hills. Normally the favourites won't attack but we are never sure.
Niermann is rabobank's man in today's break of the day. Some other names at the front are Scheunemann, Comesso, Arreitunandia and Padrnos.
The pack never chased so the escapees will sprint for the win. Niermann didn't have a good day so he will not compete for the win. Comesso is in the worst position leading the others out.
Comesso hold on very long but Padrnos jumped over him to take the win. Arreitunandia and Chmieliewski finish 2nd and 3rth. Niermann could only take 6th.
The pack with favourites came in 4 minutes later. Dekker is in it and keeps his position.
GC
Too bad Niermann had a bad day. Otherwise he could have compete for the win.

@Ian Butler: Would be great if Thomas could win!
@sutty68: The Timetrial is next..
Breakaway decides Vuelta a Andalucia
Arnaud Labbe has won the Vuelta a Ancalucia. He was part of a breakaway which was given a large lead by the pack on the second stage. Jimenez won the stage but Labbe got the leader's jersey after a good prologue. Lowik was in the break for Rabobank but could only take 4th overal. The favourites gave it a try next stage to drop the leader but the last hill wasn't hard enough. Sanchez took the win but could only finish 2th in the overal. The last two stages were flat and easily won by Oscar Freire. The Spaniard also took 7th place overal. Labbe's jersey never came in danger.
Sanchez winning the uphill sprint in stage 3.
Freire easily won the two flat stages. His best opposition were punchers Sanchez and Di Luca..

Tour of California: Stage6
23 km alone against the clock. Dekker is a good timetrialer and will try to beat Zabriskie. Taking 1'35" on Illiano should be possible.
American Champion David Zabriskie sets a good time on his home soil. 32'33 is a nice time for Davy Z.
Thomas Dekker tries to win the TT and take the leader's jersey. He just misses out on the first as he is 12" slower. 32'45
He also misses out on the second as Illiano saves his jersey with 13 seconds.
Top 5
GC
Dekker had hoped for either the stage or the leader's jersey. He missed out on both but hopes to do it on Mount Baldy.
