When is getting into the race lead a poor showing?
If you're talking to my reporting, I don't think I said he had a poor showing. I said he was going slow on the climb when he was up in front together with Agudelo. And he definitely wasn't going at his maximum speed, as he clearly had saved a lot, as he was the one pushing the pace when the final selection was made. If he had pulled on when he was solo (together with Agudelo), I'm pretty sure he would have dropped Agudelo, and grabbed a solo win. What I meant was that he didn't make the best out of the stage, as it looked like he was heading for a superb solo win, with the other favourites being blocked behind.
But yeah, I might have been a too hard on him, I guess you wouldn't have reacted if I wasn't. |

Nothing to do with your reporting, ember, mate.
It was a good report that I enjoyed.
I was asking myself the question and answering it for myself. Pozzovivo did some weird things on that stage. He got the jersey, but I think he should have done better with the lead he had so ultimately I thought it was a poor performance if that makes sense. |

Ah, yes, I understood it now. Just needed different glasses, thought you were questioning/answering others than yourself

I think the biggest problem is stages are not created for PCM11, causing many stupid splits and crashes of big guns when they´re back in the peloton same conditions for everyone, but looks like Pirelli in CT and Festina in PT are "lucky winners"
and now Clash of Titans is coming, I´m looking forward very exciting stage

Well there is always next year, and 3/5 goals is still acceptable even though there has been too many "unlucky" moments this year.
It might give me an advantage when it's time to talk about renewals

Didn´t expect a win from Chicchi on that stage, thought those hills was to hard for him,
Westling starting to work as a perfect leadoutman for Chicchi
And ofc sorry for VDB, annoying. |

Pleased with a 4th just because of the uphill finish, but looking for a stage win on stage 5

A hat trick of second places so far in this race - time for Pozzovivo to step up to the plate on the next stage.
Real bad luck for VDB, but as rycadinho says the silver lining is that a huge points haul won't be a factor in the wage he wants next year. |

The crash for Pirelli is bad luck, but not terminal for their promotion prospects for me - the HC rated races next month are the key places to shine (Burgos or Portugal).
This long climb will probably suit Rujano and Alarcon I am guessing, still rooting for Caruso though I have my doubts.

Very pleased with that. Can't ask for any better against those top climbers.
Now I'm just begging Caruso not to crash on the final stage.

Pozzo was on a whole different level than everybody else. And very strange to see Aker work against Alarcon, ember you must have been livid watching that in real time. Very pleased with Anton holding 5th overall, now Maksimov needs to win stage 5 and I would be really happy

You have no idea
It was just extremely annoying to see the team put in an amazing effort for Alarcon, only for him to bee lazy at the back. I think he definitely could have challenged Pozzovivo for the stage win if he had been well positioned when the narrow road started.
But afterall, 3rd on the stage wasn't bad, eventhough it looks like my sponsor goal of winning the race will be impossible. Afterall, Pozzovivo and Rujano are pretty much at the same level as Alarcon. And Agudelo and Vasquez did great, with Agudelo fighting himself to 9th overall.
Congratulations to Vespa and fenian.
The final stage should be up later today.

Nice.
Just got to ensure we bring home the bacon in the final stage. Ideal situation is a break takes it by a few minutes, then Pozzovivo gets to win the yellow, green and the mountains jersey.
Nice report as well, ember. Really brought the stage to life.
