Yes, I can, I can do everything in an editor. Point is though, that it shouldn't be necessary. Cyanide puts a new feature in the game, but they aren't doing it right |

I understand that it is not possible to extend contracts but do you know if it is in general so that when the team is having good results the sponsor is more willing to continue ( I assume that even though the player can't extend sponsor contracts, sponsors may say that they are willing to continue the sponsorship)? Naturally I could test this myself by playing but I'm waiting for a proper DB before starting a career so if anyone who has played through the first season could comment on this (in case it isn't general knowledge how it works).
As I said previously - no matter what you do, humans can't extend contracts, only computer teams can.
So there should be some original teams left after two seasons - yours? Probably not.

Damn, that sounds a bit silly. If the game includes already "negotiations" with other sponsors then how long can it take for Cyanide to do this as well.. The simplest solution to making it possible would seem to be just adding the current sponsor to the list of possible sponsors for next season with variation coming from the sponsor happiness. The negotiations could work the same way as they now apparently do with new sponsor candidates |

That sucks big time! For a small continental team it's almost impossible to find a new sponsor, because the agents cost so much. That's ridiculous, was it on purpose that they didn't include a "extend contracts" function?
I mean in my opinion the whole sense behind that feature is to decide, whether you extend your contract or search for a better sponsor! But now it is only a team name/shirt change every 3-4 years! In what way they think this is realistic?

Hopefully, but i'm angry right now because i played a whole season with De Rosa - struggling to have any money left - and i didn't search for another sponsor because i thought that i could just extend the contract of De Rosa. And then there is no such function... 
Now i'm in season 2 with a different sponsor who gives much less budget and i'm almost certainly in red numbers by the end of february! |

I also want to get more familiar with the searching for sponsors. A little story of my first try and some questions that are open.
The year before the sponsor contract ends you can hire (I think from 1.Nov) four different kinds of scouts. You can hire as many scouts you want(I tested only up to 30).
price/week for searching // price once for hirering
Regional 1000,- 2000,-
National 2000,- 4000,-
International 3000,- 6000,-
Legendary 4000,- 8000,-
I hired 4 International agents in November. They all should search in Germany for a sponsor. The first result I got on 1. April.
*Bmb (original database) with a german flag in the upper right corner(seems to be german sponsor).
*agent said I can get 5432000 of them -- I tried step by step decreasing the money I wanted to have.
*they wanted to be single sponsor
*3793000 was given as a money we want to have (I don't understand what it is)
*at 4600000 they said yes...but I did not sign and waited for other offers
One other agent found S-Mobile with a sponsorship of around 4600000 (I don't remember exactly/ time around june)
*I tried to get more than the offer...always not accepted
*lower values I tried until 4300000...always not accepted
One other agent found also Bmb with an agent given proposed money of 5263000 in late august.
*they accepted directly this value and I tooked this sponsor
*wanted to be single sponsor
In 2013 then the suprise. It seems to be not a german sponsor because the sponsor don't like any of my german rider. In the sponsor menu the third bar for rating the sqaud/team is complete red.
Some questions:
How do I know that I get and later that I have a german sponsor? (by the flag in the right upper corner during making the contract?)
What means the money value 3793000? -was given as a money we want to have during the contract negotiations
Maybe somebody has som experience with the national and regional agents and sponsors. Maybe it's possible to get more money from two smaller sponsors than from one big sponsor.
From which level of agent searching two sponsors are possible?
How long a agent have to search. Is it enougth to hire them in april?

Does it even matter how satisfied your sponsor is? I assume the wage budget is fixed, so getting really good results wont improve the budget in anyway? |

Wage budget fixed , so for that purpose if u start with a lower pro tour or conti only sign 1 year sponsors and try to find a better one or if u get a good offer for 2 years , i' have discovered a bug with htc probably because highroad is the owner of the team if u change HTC , highroad remains as secondary sponsor in sponsor tab and still gives u 2 milions per year , so i have 6.5 from my new main sponsor plus 1,9 mil from highroad

How long can I wait to negotiate with a sponsor? Its now 3.March and they have found 1sponsor, so how long can I wait with negotiations before the sponsor withdraw, if they do that? |

well u can negotiate till octomber if u dont find they will offer you 3 sponsor to pick , but u cannot sign any rider if u dont have a sponsor for next year so try and have one till july.

I have a question about signing sponsors: If i have already signed a sole sponsor and afterwards sign another sole sponsor - will this overwrite the old sponsor? Or will it be the co-sponsor then?
I have already signed a sole sponsor and got offers from other sponsors, but they are all about a sole sponsorship, i don't get any sponsors for co-sponsoring... |

by the sounds of that response, the ability for human players to negotiate to extend current sponsor contract, will be a key 'new feature' for PCM2012 
The new sponsor system has some great positives, but some big drawbacks... I think to make the system more effective, their should be $$ bonuses for achieving sponsor goals.
I like the fact that agents are expensive.. You almost have to build your team up gradually, instead of signing a worldwide agent and then going from 120k per month to 400k+ per month in 1 season.

At first, I liked the fact you had so many sponsor goals. Also the other ways of pleasing your sponsor were very interesting.
But as the budget of the sponsor is fixed, and you cannot extend a sponsor contract, what is the purpose of pleasing your sponsor? You cannot make more money by pleasing your sponsor this way. Or am I missing something?
About signing new sponsors:
I made a mistake in my first career. I managed to sign a 1 mil per year sponsor in my career. (not bad as I had 700k the year before). After singing the deal, another agent found some smaller regional sponsors. I hoped to sign them as a Co- sponsor so signed another contract with them for 200k per year.
Expecting to recieve 1.2 mil the next year, I started singing new riders. However, when the next season starts, I only have the sponsor of 200k as main sponsor.
I guess you can only sign one sponsor, and the contract you sign the last, is the one you will be stuck with next season... |

Just read through this and I'm getting a bit worried now.
I started up with Lampre with the first patch. What I did was I sent two agents to look for sponsors to replace ISD's (secondary) 1.4 mil/year. What I got was a sponsor that offered 0.4 mil/year - way too low for my team, as none of the captains' contracts were expiring. No other sponsors were found and the team went bankrupt in February 2012.
Second career with newest patch, Lampre again (it's my team). I sent the agents to look for sponsors from January and now, during the Vuelta, they have in total found NOTHING. It looks like a bankrupt team again.

This sponsor system is a complete failure as I see it. I haven't been able to just survive more than 12 months... of course someone should be interested in sponsoring a Pro Tour team with a potential Giro winner, classics winner and a super sprinter. I just don't get it... |
