Elia hopes to ride for one of the best italian teams someday indeed, but he realizes his current team has made a big investment in his development over the past couple of years, which he wants to reciprocate. The team DS shares this position, but he admits anything can happen in the transfer season.
On the other hand a loan deal wouldn't have such low probabilities of succeeding.

During the day has been circulating on some websites, a rumor that Adira-Isq is very interested in having Rafael Reis in his squad for next season ..
According to some sources, his departure from the team Prio - Porto is not certain, but if confirmed this possibility the team Adira seems willing to receive this young talent

Rafael Reis has been a great addition to the team from the moment of his signing. In fact he is so important that we wouldn't sell him even for the budget of an entire team. We made a big wager on his future and we're looking to bank on that bid.
He's going nowhere unless a profitable loan offer appears.

Managerial dilemma
2012 witnessed the birth of a new portuguese team, one whose focus turned to the development of regional talents. The first year was all about fishing the most promising portuguese athletes so they could gain valuable kms under their legs. This goal was partly achieved as our core of developing riders face a second year where they need to continue their learning experience towards the fulfilling of their abilities.
One of those riders is Marc Machado, the french with portuguese ascent, was on loan last season at Nestlé riding in the PT. He gathered a lot of knowledge and has already shown he can be the rider the team needs to conquer some points in the cobbled races for this season. However the team still feels he can learn a bit more with the ProTour and is now deliberating whether if he should feature in the squad this year or if he should be loaned for another year. The other proposal on the table consists on the accumulation of PT racing days through wildcards, but we would need to at least participate in a Grand Tour, which firstly isn't cheap and secondly isn't easy unless you have the right squad for such a race. A tough decision, but one which has to be made soon.
As said the team is now addressing this issue while preparing the contract renewals to be offered. The scouting task has already been finished and our shortlist is ready to be raped in the upcoming transfer season. Stay tuned.

1. Win - GP Tunis
2. Top 10 - Manx International

5. Top 5 - America Tour Standings

The renewals
Just like everyone else, Prio-Porto was also called to The Renewals Chamber, earlier this week, in order to settle which riders will continue with us for the transfer season. Upon arrival the site was crowded with journalists, all wanting to know one thing: will Luis Leon Sanchez continue to spend his days with such a successful team?
The anxious mob of paparazzi had to wait 3 hours to lay their eyes on the spaniard, who walked out of the room along with Nicácio. But they didn't have to wait much longer for a reaction since Sanchez, who usually just walks around with Rabobank racing equipment, displayed this expression of joy:
So in the end, the expected outcome was converted into words, by the team DS:
"We knew it would be hard to keep Luis-le and Pedro with us, since they felt there was too much responsibility on their shoulders, and that they could be racing at a higher level given their skills, but fortunately we were able to reach a compromise. Nevertheless we were forced to promise LL Sanchez that we'd let him go if there's a good offer for him, so this may actually be his last season with us.
On the other hand the team has released ten riders. The new administration decided the new focus will be on coring points rather than nurturing underdeveloped portuguese youngsters. We wish them the best of luck on finding a new team.
As for the transfer season. We have drawn a line of thought from which we intend to make 2-3 major acquisitions, with iberian origin. We've also come to a very strict shortlist of riders we might be willing to sign depending on the adjustments we'll inevitably need to do to our transfer plans.
Just before I leave, I'd like to point out that our salaries list and budget can be checked on the 1st page, as soon as everyone else comes out of the Renewals Chamber.
See you all in the transfer trenches, gentlemen."
Riders released to the free-agency:
José Carlos Rodrigues Silva
Ricardo Martins
Marco Alexandre Ferreira Cunha
Marco Cunha
André Cardoso
André Mourato
Ricardo Vilela
Paulo Lucas Martins
Gabriel Cerveira
Marcio Portela

Team Presentation - 2013
Transfers are over which means is time for our team presentation! After a lot of sweat (and some blood and tears when Daniel the accountant bit his tongue yesterday) Prio - Porto is now able to present the best Pro Continental roster of all time!!
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/plaza_zps0e8981d2.png[/img-r] Name | R. Plaza | Age | 33 | Wage | 320,000 € | Role | Absolute Leader | Best abilities | MON 78 TT 78 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Rubén is our man this season. He's proven his value in the past few years with Jack Wolfskin conquering a lot of respect in the peloton and we'll be trying to capitalize on that factor in 2013. His season goal is to defend the team's triumph in Volta a Portugal, won last year by Luis Leon Sanchez, but we will be banking on his TT skills to surprise the pure climbers in C1 and HC races.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/ventoso_zps8f676a2e.png[/img-r] Name | F. Ventoso | Age | 31 | Wage | 300,000 € | Role | Classics leader | Best abilities | HIL 76 SPR 78 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Ventoso is a new signing as well. He's been brought from Santander for 400k. An absolute bargain given his ease in overcoming hills for such finishing kick. He'll be an avid pointscorer no doubt about it. We will do our best to choose the best schedule possible for him.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/avelino_zps28cdde8a.png[/img-r] Name | O. Avelino | Age | 25 | Wage | 320,000 € | Role | Lead Sprinter | Best abilities | SPR 82 | Seasons with team | 0 |
It's true that our DS had shown interest in him in past seasons, but we wouldn't be willing to spend so much money in a rider if it wasn't for a chance at our win goal in GP Tunis. Óscar has already started an intensive training program just to be ready for that occasion. Nevertheless his incredible finishing speed will deserve the appropriate support throughout the season. Great things are expected from Óscar in 2013.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/nicacio_zpsc7b3c18d.png[/img-r] Name | P. Nicácio | Age | 32 | Wage | 105,000 € | Role | Stage-race Lt. | Best abilities | MON 76 TT 76 | Seasons with team | 3 |
Pedro is one of the few riders left from the Energie-Diesel era. He's always been a great asset both in ProTour and Continental Divisions and we're counting on him to be at his best this season again. He mustn't have many more good years in his legs, but we still trust in the brazilian to be Rubén's first wingman in PCT mountains and TTs. He will still be enjoying his chances as sole leader in minor stage-races though.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/santos_zps6c30869f.png[/img-r] Name | B. Santos | Age | 28 | Wage | 60,000 € | Role | Sprinter Lt. | Best abilities | SPR 79 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Bruno wasn't too keen on Avelino's signing at the beginning but after a private talk with our sicilian bodyguards, he surprisingly changed his mind. He'll be the last piece of Avelino's train and hopefully won't transmit him his jaw-dropping ability to fail a slum-dunk mass sprint victory. Chances are that he rides a few races on his own, possibly C2 events.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/machado_zpsfe2f0c06.png[/img-r] Name | M. Machado | Age | 25 | Wage | 65,000 € | Role | Cobbles leader | Best abilities | COB 77 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Cobbles were never really our thing, since we're a portuguese team and everything, but last year we found this guy who could ride his bike through a pile of functioning chainsaws, so we thought why not give him a chance of riding some cobblestones? We made him sign a contract and loaned him to now extinct Nestle PT team where he had the chance to learn a thing or two from Boonen. Let's see what he can do this year.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/mendes_zpsd91ba1c7.png[/img-r] Name | J. Mendes | Age | 28 | Wage | 135,000 € | Role | Classics leader | Best abilities | HIL 75 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Jose wasn't our first choice in the market for this position, but we are happy to have him on board. We made a financial effort to make him sign for us, which included loaning Rodrigues. That might not have been the best decision, you might think, but here at Prio - Porto we believe in the power of will! Ride on Jose.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/allonca_zpsd53ccfcb.png[/img-r] Name | D. Allonca | Age | 25 | Wage | 72,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | COB 72 | Seasons with team | 2 |
Daniel rode with Ventoso in the Santander squad and was part of the team that made Madrazo the winner of last year's Vuelta a España. He won't be doing any of that this season. His role will be to help Machado in the cobbled classics just to make sure he won't be alone when he falls in Arenberg.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/oliveira_zps8899e026.png[/img-r] Name | N. Oliveira | Age | 24 | Wage | 100,000 € | Role | TT helper | Best abilities | TT 74 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Nelson rode for us as Cerne last year as a loanee, and with the dissolution of his former team, there was a tacit agreement between both sides that he would find shelter here at Prio - Porto in 2013. However is signing wasn't granted until we doubled his wage. Greedy bastard... he better win a national TT in the coming years.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/baltazar_zps921538b8.png[/img-r] Name | C. Baltazar | Age | 26 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | MON 71 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Carlos was supposed to going on loan this year, but since we managed to close our squad with almost the minimum amount of riders we decided he should stay. He's not worth much by now but we hope we can turn him in a solid climbing helper someday. Hence why we're planning on assigning him a lot of HC race days.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/silva_zpsea2be688.png[/img-r] Name | B. Silva | Age | 25 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | MON 71 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Bruno Silva is exactly the same as Carlos Baltazar. I don't even know what to write about him that I haven't already written for Baltazar. Oh right is one year younger, there you have it. That's as far as I can go really.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/pires_zps8d114d5e.png[/img-r] Name | B. Pires | Age | 32 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | HIL 73 | Seasons with team | 3 |
Despite being with us from season one, just like Nicácio, Bruno Pires won't just be playing the "team captain" role. He's preparing to hang his wheels, but just like the brazilian, we're counting on him to give us one last season before he's starting to feel the effects of his age. Anyway despite having never been a superstar Pires as shown he can surprise sometimes, which might be enough to give him a couple of leading roles in lower-categorised races.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/vital_zps98a2a6f9.png[/img-r] Name | A. Vital | Age | 31 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | MON 73 | Seasons with team | 3 |
André is yet another rider who's been with us from the beginning. A very low profile kind of racer which does his best for his leaders. He'll be doing that for the next season as well, supporting Plaza and Nicácio whenever the climbs appear on the map.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/afonso_zps6e3cfa26.png[/img-r] Name | L. Afonso | Age | 23 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | HIL 70 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Luis is a nice talented kid and we want him to grow with us for the coming seasons, but for now he'll do mostly domestique work. Obviously we'll try to give him chances on breakaways whenever the opportunity arises, especially to try and raise our impressive tally of absolutely zero victories from breakaways last year. Seems like this is going to be a busy year for Luis.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/caldeira_zps854d22aa.png[/img-r] Name | S. Caldeira | Age | 28 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Leadout sprinter | Best abilities | SPR 77 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Samuel was a member of Nestle last year, just like Machado. He too took the chance to learn with Boonen. We see him as a very valuable member of our sprinting contingent, since we think he'll be the perfect fit for Avelino and Santos' train. Don't disappoint us Samuel.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/martins_zps7782acb2.png[/img-r] Name | J. Martins | Age | 31 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Leadout sprinter | Best abilities | SPR 75 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Martins was last year's shadow of Bruno Santos. However with the reinforcements we were able to get his role will be less prominent. We still need him to do his job and we hope some competition inside the team will only raise his level of commitment.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/borges_zps9a31e853.png[/img-r] Name | B. Borges | Age | 22 | Wage | 90,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | HIL 71 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Bruno is probably our hottest prospect classics-wise. He has already shown some interesting abilities in is first year, but we're looking to get more out of him. He won't be more than a domestique this year still, but just like Afonso we'll be giving him the mission of getting an early breakaway stage victory. A cookie is promised to the first one of them who conquers that win.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/coutinho_zps6f328da0.png[/img-r] Name | L. Coutinho | Age | 21 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | SPR 72 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Lionel Coutinho is yet another sprinter, or maybe, the embryonic phase of one. He'll have lots of teachers so he'll probably will gain a lot of expertise this year. Otherwise we'll just sell him to Barcelona. I heard they fancy his name.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/carvalho_zpsf19636aa.png[/img-r] Name | A. Carvalho | Age | 24 | Wage | 50,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | SPR 70 | Seasons with team | 1 |
As we can't grow tired of sprinters in our squad we have Antonio on board as well. He's not as young or as talented as Leo but he's still got a lot of potential. That's all we need.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/default_zps91a60e40.png[/img-r] Name | R.P. Vinhas | Age | 27 | Wage | 95,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | MON 73 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Back to our new acquisitions, we have Rui Pedro an interesting rider who's no TdF winner but who can become a very useful climber in a few years. Sure he's far from young to start a cycling career, but hey better late than never.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/default_zps91a60e40.png[/img-r] Name | R. Ferreira | Age | 21 | Wage | 110,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | COB 71 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Ricardo was the surprise of the Free Agents pool this year in Portugal. No one could believe that there was a portuguese rider able to finish a cobbled classic. Well Ricardo won't only be looking to finish races. In a few years he'll probably be finishing off the opposition. Ferreira is truly the chosen one!
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/default_zps91a60e40.png[/img-r] Name | R.Nascimento | Age | 28 | Wage | 65,000 € | Role | Domestique | Best abilities | TT 73 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Another late bloomer that found his space at Prio - Porto. Rodrigo is predicted to have a very short cycling life-span, but we are determined to make it worth it. He's a gifted time-trialist and is predicted to be Nicácio's successor as the chronic brazilian TT champion. We'll do our best to maintain that beautiful and colourful jersey within our ranks through Nascimento's skin
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/rodrigues_zps71585d95.png[/img-r] Name | V. Rodrigues | Age | 28 | Wage | 300,000 € | 2013 team | Hollister | Best abilities | MON 78 | Seasons with team | 0 |
Vitor wasn't really a top priority for us, but since the opportunity appeared we decided we should give it a try. He signed a contract for us , but unfortunately we were forced to let go of him later in the transfer season in order to cover negotiations we deemed rather important. We expected CT to be his destiny, but the only interesting offers came from PCT managers, having Hollister Pro Cycling won the contest for his services.
[img-r]https://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/reis_zps804375e4.png[/img-r] Name | R. Reis | Age | 21 | Wage | 100,000 € | 2013 team | Adira - Isq | Best abilities | MON 72 TT 70 | Seasons with team | 1 |
Last year there was a problem with Reis. The doctors spent weeks examining him, only to find a case of explosive diarrhoea which significantly slowed his progression as a rider. As such we figured he should be given a gap year, which led to a loan deal with the new portuguese team Adira - Isq. We hope he can find the comfort he didn't have with us last year.
And so, for anyone interested here's the team's stats. Stay tuned for more news sometime in the future..

Or the guy who had the awesome idea to use that combination of colors on the shirt that Plaza is wearing
Good luck. Hopefully Plaza will deliver in the CT as well as he did in the PT.
Nice presentation as well. I might steal some of your ideas for my own presentation.

Really love the kit it's one of my favourite this year. With a new Portuguese sprinter you can be very successful in that department and Plaza will give you points in the stage races all looking very promising, good luck. |

@jtt: Thanks for the compliment, I'm pretty satisfied with the final version of the jersey. As to Avelino and Plaza I hope you're right, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get the best out of them.
News flash
The preparations for the upcoming season continue as we keep getting closer to its debut. Transfers have just been finished but we haven't been resting here at Prio - Porto. In fact we have just been informed that the team's equipment has just been made available by our manufacturers, and as such we are happy to announce it here on our HQ. Credits go to fintas our magnificent collaborator, to whom we address our most sincere gratitude:
On other news we are also very happy to announce our wildcards have been accepted to the 2 races we requested. That means we will be seeing Prio-Port's colours in the Vuelta a España and Lisbon Classic. We were very keen on racing those 2 events when the calendar was announced but we couldn't really know if we could ride them till now. We can't really make our squads known for those races, but the race organisers were pretty assertive when they told us they wanted to see Rubén Plaza and Óscar Avelino respectively in each race. Let's see if we can fulfil their wishes.

Prio - Porto's engines are all tuned up by now and everything is absolutely ready for the first race of the season. Every rider knows his specific race calendar by now as well and as so we think it's time to share with you our leaders race schedules. Although we'll first go through our squad for our most important Wildcard of the season - La Vuelta a España:
Rubén Plaza
Marc Machado
Jose Mendes
André Vital
Carlos Baltazar
Bruno Silva
Nelson Oliveira
Bruno Borges
Lionel Coutinho
We haven't great expectations for this actually but we are hoping for a top15 with Rubén and perhaps a stage win with Mendes having so many hilly stages on his way. The rest of the gang is there essentially to gain experience but they'll be providing support to their leaders and maybe try their luck in the breakaways.
Now for our leaders Continental's schedules

Will be interesting to see how Plaza fares this season, it could be that the Sprints ends up being your most lucrative terrain.

No wonder you were scared about Abal showing up in Portugal. I just couldn't give up the 11 race days considering I only want a stage win to complete our goal. So just let Costa win the opening prologue and Plaza can do whatever he wants after that.

Yeah, I didn't realise that up until race planning actually, but I don't believe Plaza is going to be as valuable as I first intended. I was hoping there were more C1 stage races in my calendar with TTs, but I neglected that a bit so he'll be far from his point scoring potential I guess.

I'll be happy to let him win it but he'll have to live up to the task. With Abal out of the picture I just need to hear Alarcon, Kritskiy, Taaramae and Kashechkin are out as well

Spoiler Vuelta al Táchira [C1]
Squad:
Óscar Avelino - sprinter
Luis Afonso
Carlos Baltazar
Samuel Caldeira
Jose Mendes - free rider
Pedro Nicácio - GC hope
Bruno Silva
Goals: Stage wins, Points jersey and GC Top15
Results: Óscar Avelino - Win stage 3 (OOT Stage 11)
Jose Mendes - win Stage 12
Pedro Nicácio - 8th GC
Comment: Despite having the best sprinter in the race, our ill-formed sprint train failed in various stages, which took all our chances in the Points Classification. On the other hand Avelino was able to secure our first triumph of the season. In the GC Nicácio proved once again we can count on him for top10s in the PCT, even with such competition and no TTs, which is fundamental for our goal in the America Tour. Jose Mendes was pretty good as well with his aggressive racing throughout the whole race, which culminated in a stage win in the final stage
Trofeo Luis Puig [C2]
Squad:
Bruno Santos - sprinter
Antonio Carvalho
Lionel Coutinho
Ricardo Ferreira
José Martins
Rodrigo Nascimento
Rui Pedro Vinhas
Goal: Podium
Result: Bruno Santos - 6th
Comment: Bruno Santos should be able to fight for more than a 6th place given the competition. His team mates can be blamed as well since most of them are good finishers, and due to Vinhas' presence in the BOTD they didn't even need to work throughout the day. Nevertheless a 6th place isn't all that bad.

Solid start for your team. I really like this team. Firstly, because they have an awesome jersey and, secondly, because you've really kept this a 'national' team.
