Dramatic stage really and some got badly hurt, obviously more than others and I think Rodrigues is out of contention in the GC while Breuck might suffer a lot the next couple of stages (to crash so close before the finish line is really unlucky). Mixed feelings here since I didn't understand Mayo's hunt for KoM points but with a sprint like that then he must have had an phenomenal day on the saddle. Ndbri probably lost his chance to win the KoM after that crash too..

It seems Broecks crash didn't really have an affect, Yamaha is really performing well - another good win there.

Holy S**t i love you Bajadali!
Finally some of my initial dream of buying an attacking mountain team like Euskatel is coming to life. There is a lot of luck so far but i need to enter more of these races next year where there are a lot of unorthodox stages.

Awesome stage by Hesjedal and by Mayo too - a podium in the GC and the mountain jersey isn't that far away suddenly. I still regret that Hesjedal lost so much time to Gil and Broeck on stage 2 but they should still be higher up than the canadian champion anyway.
3 men in top 10 and Hesjedal should be able to overtake Saldarriaga later in the race - things looks quite good.

Hesjedal was really good, you can see Van den Broeck and especially Gil seperating themselves from the field.

Crazy move by Hesjedal, too bad he didn't succeed. Thanks to Tiralongo is the team in front of the team GC, I hope Hesjedal won't lose too much time to Gil, Breuck and perhaps Martinez, but it will be hard.

I am going to alter the schedule slightly ... due to a busy day for me at work on Thursday I will post the big mountain top finish of stage 12 tonight and stage 13 will be with you tomorrow morning.
The last two flat stages will be coming along on Wednesday evening. |

Great stage, Breuck, Gil and Rodrigues are on another level but if Ryder can manage to hold his third place, then I would dare to say that his tour has been successful for the team. Will be a very dramatic stage 13, with nothing settled for the overall win and how the podium will look! I hope Ryder will stay close to his nearest rivals, especially Martinez!

If Rodrigues can finish in 6th place that would be just great considering his bad luck. |

Yeah it was a fine battle they had for third, even though I think Hesjedal deserved it just a little bit more. I only need him to stay on his bike and the team can celebrate one of the better results of this season. Too bad Ndbri crashed earlier, he would had been top 10 material if that didn't happen.

This kind of races are heaven for secondary riders. Wonder if you get a good point/race day ratio though.

Good point. For most of the squads here short race day stage races are best avoided as they will not score many points due to the presence of riders like Ricco etc.
Columbia has 9 teams here - I don't think Red Bull's ratio will be great but it is probably better than if I had entered the seven riders here in races like Slovenia, Trentino, Ringerinke etc. instead.
Tachira (12 stages) was definately worth it for me as there was only six teams and LEGO/ Bbox were a bit weak there. It left the other four teams to share the bounty Quiksilver and Red Bull with some fairly sub prime riders.
Tachira worked out:
Benfica - 31
Youtube (!) - 26
Quiksilver - 23
Red Bull - 20
Bbox - 15
Lego - 8 |

Turns out pretty useful. But yea, it's based mostly on the way your team is composed. I choose for top riders, so i'll get way more points out of shorter stage races, compared to this ones. Also, can't rly sent anyone to these kind of races.
Well, on paper i could send some of my climbers, but 10+ racedays could easily be spend somewhere else, as actually, most of my races have one of my leaders in it.
Edit: On the end of the season i'm doing the Tour of Faso, 10 stages panflat, Nazon could get a good result there.

So a very interesting race is finally over and thanks to Ryder clinching to his third place in the GC and Mayo's brilliant stage win, can I call this a success for the team - regardless how many points the team scored in the end.
Great job again Smowz with the reporting, was a pleasure following this years edition of Vuelta a Columbia.
Kami: For me it was more a question to find races where a team like mine without much depth would be able to show the team colours. I might regret my decision that I've sent a team to America, mostly because every team except mine has send some very strong riders...then it doesn't really matter if there will only be 5-6 teams!
