Next Tuesday.
The stage with finish on Monte Zoncolan was this year already really, really hard. I can't believe Zomegan will make a stage with finish on Zoncolan even harder. I can't wait for the next year's Giro.
Was Zoncolan climbed from the 'easier' side this year? And will it be climbed from the same side next year? |

I think it was the hard side this year.

Giau Cima Coppi? WTF?
That means no Stelvio, Gavia, Sampeyre, Izoard, etc etc etc...
Also, that profile is clearly the Marmolada immediately after the Giau
Also, there will supposedly be another stage with 6 mountains, with a downhill finish.
It's the Giro, so no worries, it won't be boring.

Cool stage. Whats the climb after the Fedaia? Col Rodella/Passo Sella? Cant imagine a finish on the Pordoi.
Seems to be not high enough for Pordoi nor Sella.

Back to the Tour: The route sucks.
Only one TT, barely 40kms long.
The organizers seem 100% commited to making it a route for one-dimensional riders.
It's pathetic that the self-styled "greatest race" is tailor made for one-dimensional one-trick ponies who can't do anything other than climb...
Did I mention even the barely-40-km-TT has two climbs in it?
Tourmalet+ Luz Ardiden.....which a very flat climb. Plus it's the first stage. Nothing will happen.
Aubisque stage.....ending in tons of flat. Nothing happens.
Then the Plateau de Beille preceded by....a whole lot of nothing.
Then the alps, with the Montgenévre, Sestriére and.....a ton of flat before the tiny little Pra Martino climb.
Finally, the two actual mountain stages in the Alps: Izoard+Agnello+flattish final climb to Serre Chevalier and Telegraphe+Galibier+Alpe d'Huez

Torri del Vajolet. 6.5kms at 9.4%
Like I said, no Pordoi.

The ASO has gone mad.
The points for the final climbs will be doubled on summitnfinishes.
Points jersey: Only one intermediate sprint per stage...worth 20 pts. Stage finish worth 45.
So...two bunch sprints per day and breaks are even more doomed.
Way to kill off breaks, Preudhomme.

What? So, they pretty much said to themselves "let's make more boring flat stages than in 2010 and let's make them even more boring."
Christ. I'm very disappointed by this route. |

Well at least we will be able to enjoy the whole stage, since it's not filled with 100+ flat kilometres extra! The riders are also human and the stage before is sick, so it's only fair that they "only" have two HC climbs in that short a stage distance
