Stage 3
Today's stage is once again not very long like the previous two stages. The finish is actually pretty hard because the last 2-3 kilometres are going up! That’s why I hope that Rojas can fight for the stage win and take some time on Petacchi because the big sprinters will have a hard time today.
Today's breakaway were not represented by Caisse d’Epagne. We were not interested in doing anything except for the final kilometres but Lampre had to take responsibility due to Petacchis overall lead.
Unfortunately crashed Jeanneson, who had been a great help for Rojas on the first stages so Drujon had to protect Rojas instead of our unlucky Frenchmen.
The nine riders out front had seen their gap to the peleton go the wrong way after the sprinter teams had set up the pace. It was time for another exciting sprint finish when the breakaway was over with 18 kilometres left.
We once again managed to set-up a nice train for Rojas and Gutierrez’s hard tempo was leaving its mark on many of the heavier guys in the peleton. Especially Petacchi wasn’t looking good and our Captain seemed to have the legs of his life!
The only rider who could catch his wheel before the final meters was the danish footon-servetto rider Martin Pedersen.
Lastras was the last man before Rojas was on his own in the sprint and only Pedersen had a chance to steal another win from Caisse d’Epargne now when they could see the finish line!
Pedersen was the strongest of the two and he was able to pass Rojas and take today's stage. It was very unlucky for us since we had done everything right but Rojas did well to take second.

The stage was a success after all since Rojas managed to retake the Leaderjesey from Petacchi and also the jersey for the best sprinter! It will be hard to defend the lead Rojas since Petacchi is only 2 seconds after and tomorrows stage is much more suited for the Italian veteran. None less will we try everything to get another good result with Rojas and perhaps our inform sprinter can grab another good result.

Yeah but I'm happy if Rojas can end in the podium! I didn't have the biggest expectations before the race, but now the team is fighting for the overall victory!

Stage 4
Another flat stage, and yesterdays big losers Petacchi etc. should be fighting for the win again. Caisse d’Epargnes job for today will be to control today's breakaway and try to help Rojas to a good position before the final sprint.
Drujon, Coyot and especially Jeanneson was starting to feel tired after the first tree stages, but because Rojas managed to take the leader jersey back to the team then they had to work hard for him. Moreau was now going to protect Rojas since our veteran only is racing in Tour Down Under, so he can be in a good shape for Paris -Nice
As always had some riders tried to get away and after some hectic kilometres did we let Euskatels Urtasun and another veteran Quick-Steps Tossato go out in today's breakaway after they got a gab to the peleton, when today's first hill was passed.
We didn’t allow them to fight for the stage win and once again was the stage going to end in a mass sprint!
Petacchi and Farrars team mates had taken the front before the two riders were cached and today Caisse d’Epargne had a surprise for everyone. We wanted to let Moreau start our train for Rojas and then Gutierrez and Lastras could save some energy before they had to prepare Rojas for the final meters.
Things didn’t go well and the idea was a disaster since it took way too long time for Moreau to get us up in the front of the peleton – we didn’t even get there and Rojas had now no chance to win the stage!
Thanks to a brilliant lead out train by Team Columbia could the Spaniard Reyes take a surprising stage win or did he? Reyes thought like everyone else that he would cross the line as the winner but then another surprise came when Quick-Steps Wouter Weyland just managed to beat Reyes in one of the closest sprints I have seen for a long time.
A great win for Weyland and Quick-Step but my feelings goes to Reyes since he rarely get a opportunity to win a stage with riders like André Greipel and Mark Cavendish as team mates.

Even though Rojas actually ended up as seven after fighting up through the peleton, then it was a complete disaster the train we tried to set up for him. Petacchi finished third and is back in the overall lead but tomorrow will be another chance for us to turn the tide! Willunga hill will be passed two times and some of the big guns will try to launch a attack that’s for sure. My hope is that Rojas can win the stage in a sprint were Petacchi will be too exhausted to try go for another victory but Gutierrez, Lastras and maybe Moreau are going to counter any attack in the last part of the stage.

Stage 5
Today will the best chance to beat the sprinters after we haven’t seen a breakaway fight or a stage win yet!
The hard climb Willunga hill will not be only one time on the route but two and it’s a great opportunity to launch a attack especially when the riders is going to ride Willunga hill for the last time. Hagen, Pozzato and especially Rojas all have shown good form and they want to make Petacchi suffer on the hardest stage of the whole Tour Down Under.
Not surprisingly then there was extra interest to have a rider out in a breakaway since all the team managers knew that today’s stage is harder to control for the sprinter teams.
As always then Caisse d’Epargne wasn’t represented in the breakaway but we had once again chosen to save our energy so the riders could be fit for the last part of the stage!
There was nine riders in front of the peloton and non of them was a threat for the stage but yesterdays surprising stage winner Weyland was amongst them!
When Willunga hill was passed for the first time then it was Bertolini who was first over the hill sprint. The nine riders in front had only 2 minutes to the Peloton and the tempo set by Lampre, Katuscha and Sky did that no one wanted to start a attack down from the peloton. Rojas seemed to have a good drive and it would be very good if the stage would end in a mass sprint – since Rojas then would have a good chance to grab another victory.
The breakaway was starting to be caught and at the foot of Willunga hill, for the second time today, then Astanas Jufre launched a desperate attack! Only the Australian rider Sulzsberger could follow him. The breakaway was now broken into many small groups and the Danish cobblestone specialist Frank Høj was the closest rider to the two in front. Jufre and Sulszberger managed to get 1-2 at the mountain sprint but then the fireworks started down in the peloton.
The always aggressive rider Voekler launched an attack when the Peloton could see the two guys in front! Lastras responded together with Nicki Sørensen and Johnny Hoogerland – the battle for today’s stage win and the general classification had begun!
On the downhill attacked one of the biggest favorite for today's stage Filippo Pozzato and unfortunately was Lastras not strong enough to counter the big Italians move – no one could.
Thanks to his brilliant downhill driving then Pozzato was getting a bigger and bigger gap to the peloton – but we didn’t want to help Lampre and the other teams driving him in, since we still had Lastras in a small group 30 seconds in front of the Peloton.
Pozzatto was beginning to lose time to the peloton and Van Summeren from Garmin tried to attack from the peloton also with a few kilometres to go! Petacchi was still in the Peloton and his team mates was doing a great job in chasing Pozzato. The Italian was looking more and more like a winner though, but there was still important bonus seconds to race for and Gutierrez was the last man for Rojas before the sprint began!
Pozzatto took a impressive stage win and since he was only 12 seconds after Petacchi and 14 after Rojas – then he looked to be a new leader in the general classification
Boasson Hagen was the strongest rider in the pelotons sprint, but Rojas did a great job to beat Petacchi and win some very important seconds! Once again would there be 2 seconds between Petacchi and the Caisse d’Epargne rider.

Pozzato might be in the lead now but we will do everything to get Rojas on top of tomorrows podium! There are 10,6 and 4 bonus seconds in Adelaide and even though the sprint is much more suited for the two Italians in the general top 3 – then we will try to defend Rojas Point jersey and also his 1. place as the best young rider.

Stage 6
When the riders have completed today's short and final stage that is starting and ending in Adelaide, then this years edition of Santos Tour Down Under have a new winner!
Caisse d’Epargne still got much to drive for since we are still in reach of Pozzatos overall lead and Rojas is also having a narrow lead to Petacchi in the fight for the point classfication. Today's hot favourite is Petacchi but we will do everything to get Rojas another good result for him and the team.
Once again did we not have any interest being in a breakaway and even though there was fifteen riders out – then the two biggest names was the always attacking riders Rubens Bertogliati and Romain Sicard.
Pozzato and his Katuscha team wasn’t interested in letting the guys in front get more than 3 minutes to the peloton and with more than 40 kilometres left of the stage was the gap only on 46 seconds!
Katuscha decided to slow down the tempo since it would be way to early if the breakaway was already over after 30-40 kilometres, so first with 17 kilometres left the fifteen riders had to capitulate. Caisse d’Epargne tried once again to set up a decent train for our Captain.
Gutierrez who had been so strong for Rojas as his lead-out man yesterday was not having a good day together with Lastras. The only one who perhaps could help Rojas was Moreau. Lastras had to lead out Rojas when Moreau had got the two Spaniards in a decent position.
Once again wasn’t it a success when Moreau was having a job in the sprint for Rojas and he didn’t have enough power to get Rojas and Lastras anyway near today's stage winner Fillipo Pozzato!

It was a very bad way to end a fantastic race for Caisse d’Epargne but i can’t really be too angry about the lads. Rojas was fantastic and with a brilliant stage win, best young rider and a podium finish in the general classification – then it had been much more than we could have dreamed of! Pozzato won the race and he did it in style with 2 stage wins in the 2 last stages of the race. Petacchi also showed some early form and with one stage win + the point jersey can Lampre be happy for there performance + a surprising second place for Petacchi in the battle of the orange leaders jersey. Rubens Bertogliati was a worthy winner of the hill jersey since he has been very active to secure enough points for that competition.

Etoile de Besseges
This race is the first out of 2 french races that Caisse d’Epargne will anticipate in February. Our Captain will be Moreau and he is in a fine shape after Tour Down Under. Another Frenchmen will be hunting for good results on the flat stages and the lad for that is Drujon who also raced in Australia. Etoile de Besseges is a pretty easy race that contains 4 flat stages and one with some hills that can give opportunity for riders like Moreau to attack.
The favourites for the overall victory beside Moreau is another French rider. Thomas Voekler was trying himself off in Tour Down Under and he will hope to win the leaders jersey. Another rider who will be interesting to follow is the old American George Hincapie – who will make his début for BMC. The biggest favourite for the overall classification though is the Columbian all rounder Leonardo Duque. His Cofidis team also have Dumoulin for the sprints and they will do everything to get points for the continental tour.
