I would love to get a team in the game.
I wouldn't really focus on specific nationalities but more to form a strong squad that can be a real threat in many races.
The squad should have a mix of climbers, classic riders who can win hill races and perhaps one or two strong sprinters as I'm not so interested in cobblestone races.
My dream would be to take the team to the protour and it should stay as a team that like the football team F.C Internazionale can focus bringing the very best riders from all over the world. Only thing is that the team should be from Italy.
Our main focus on the continental calender should be races that have a mix between sprint stages and hill/mountain stages.

Would like to join.
My target would be to get a specialiced team, that instead of almost being able to compete in a lot of races, is able to do a great job in a few. What kind of team it will be is not easy to say, but it depends on what i will be able to get to my team. Most likely a sprinter or cobbleteam. I will focus my transfers on what my team needs, and not so much just buy someone cause they are cheap or from a spesific country. |

When I joined this site "for real", the transfer season for the 2010 season was just started. I was kind of sad, that I joined a few months to late, but this time I wont miss the chance.
Since last Winter I've followed the game on the sideline - and just waited for this time to come.
I think I should get a spot, because I'm active, and I wont just quit after a month or two. I'm gonna stay, at least for one whole season.
How I would manage my team?
I already have the plan for my team inside my head - except for the riders of course. But I'll start an Italian team, with main focus on the sprint, and some climbers. As a brand new team I probably wont get that much money, but that wouldn't really bother me. I would just go for a top sprinter, and then build a team up around him.

I actually do have a question.
You said that you first pick your goals for the upcoming season and on that goals your budget gets calculated. So i guess the harder you pick your team goals the higher your budget is?
Those goals, are those concrete? Like, win that race, finish in the top 10 of that, and so on? Because if you choose race x which is a stage race with mountains and timetrial, head into the transfer season but there isn't anyone available who could achieve the goal. This might sound unlikely, but let's presume it happens.
Is there something to prevent things like this or ...?
Just curious, because i've actually wondered what happens in such a case. |

Kami, yes in the answer to the first and second answers.
And don't worry, there will always be someone to complete that goal. Some teams will not continue and their riders will be free agents, adding to the fact that there will be new riders in the DB. And you can always buy riders from other teams. |

Well, you pick the goals then go into the transfers and hunt down riders to get those goals, there should be plenty of free riders so you shouldn't have any trouble. You could also pick a variety of goals to ensure that you at least get a couple.

Yes, thats why you choose your goals wisely, with an idea of how you're going to build your team. There are always riders out there available for purchase, or loan, or as free agents to sign. You have to keep your eyes peeled for other managers offering them, and make sure you search the DB (when it's out) thoroughly. By bidding willy-nilly on riders without a plan, or with no care towards the goals you set your team, will ensure that the season following your budget will be much reduced.
Remember, if you don't think you can achieve hard goals (which to be honest, only La Gazzetta have shown they can), don't go for hard goals, go for easier ones.

I got 4/5 hard goals, using a cunning strategy which also ensured that I got no where near promotion. So it is doable, you just need to get somewhat lucky.

great but I guess the harder your goals the bigger the budget to so if my goal was win tour de france vs win KOM of PAris nice and both goals were acheived TDF goal would get more right?

yes, but you choose your goals from a list given to you. So as a CT team, winning the tour will not be one of your goals. |

Thx for the replies Untal, rjc and mb.
That was what i wanted to know, was getting worried that some new teams would get 'roflpwnt' because there were not enough riders available. But also seeing that there are new riders added aswell, like Untal said, it shouldnt be a problem what so ever.
Do you get a list of cont. races before you decide your goals? Or is that already here somewhere? |

well there is a list of conti races for this season in one of the forums, but the calender will change. They were all up before goals were decided last year and I am sure it will be like that again

There is the current Continental Race Profiles mini-forum, which lists all the profiles of this past seasons races. But the calender will change. You will get to choose which races you go to, and get to ask to go to an amount of HC races.
