For me it wasn't that hard learning German since it's somewhats similar to Norwegian in a vague way. Even if someone doesn't speak a word of German he might be able to guess the meaning of a sentence since several of the words have the same roots.

This is why every once in a while someone at the EU proposes we all start speaking Finnish: linguists all agree it's the simplest language (and not in a bad way like japanese).
For the record, they also agree the hardest one in europe is polish.

I thought Finnish was derived from Magyar/Hungarian, which is one of the most complicated language in Europe (along with Polish, yes, tell us about it kumazan ).

Polish is slavik and all slavik languages are hard. Had 6 years of Russian in school but I mostly forgot it all.
Just booked a holiday close to Pra-Loup! It'll be great returning there after watching the images from a falling hero Merckx. Been there once before when I was little, remember it to be an exceptionally beautiful region to ride and climb mountains, hope it doesn't disappoint me years later!

Yeah, slavic languages are hard as hell for the rest of the world, czech is also being said asto be one of the hardest languages to learn of all. Polish is easy for me, as i t is very similar to czech/slovak.
