EPIC - Season 1 Part 1
brewers90
Guys, guys. I have something to say.

Spoiler
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Banana Banana Banana Banana Banana

First Lander, then Hushovd and then Phinney finished it off. Just when I thought I couldn't love him any more. And then Greg in third. What a day. Grin

@knockout, great report as well, though I wouldn't have cared if you'd just put the final picture and the result up. Pfft

Well, hmmm this will be hard, Phinney definitely in great shape. Look from what distance the BMC guys came.Shock
Die hard fan of Tom Boonen and Quickstep since 2004.

Come on guys, let's get this finished as quickly as possible. I really want to do the whole progression thing. Grin

There are 6 stages left I believe; I reckon we can be done by the weekend. I personally don't care if the reports have just 1 picture and the results now. I just want this wrapped up. Especially De Panne! Grin

Shonak
Yeah, finish it. I want to get sued by Radioshack, hire some decent talent, get smashed in the continental championships and pretend that I'm basque at the basque race series. Cool

Shame for Khamphan. Gaudin still in great position for a good GC Wink

Absolutely not, as long as you put the full results up.

And knockout, your report was great. All I meant was that I liked the result so I want to see the remaining stages as quickly as possible. Grin

Of course a mention of who managed to get in the break and perhaps the results of any sprints before the "real" report starts would be nice as well.

Tour of Oman - Stage 5

i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/1_zpsc3e28bb7.jpg

Here we are again in the middle of desert. This time some hills colour the stage. From the nearly same hills today only one are categorized. Organization fail? Will Peeters retain the leader jersey (among the other jerseys) or somebody take it from him. Let's see.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/2_zps33c7c9f0.jpg

129 km to go
Right after the start five riders escaping from the EUC leaded peloton. The race radio confirm the escapees: Van Niekerk(MTN), Mate'(COF), Pauriol(SOJ), Beyer(CSS), Minguez(CSS). None of them are GC threat, Pauriol its the best placed with 7'36''.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/3_zps4ecc6ba1.jpg

83km to go - Sprint
None of the escapees contest for the points, Minguez takes ahead of Mate'and Beyer. The gap slowly growing to 5'48''. Nobody help the EUC in the peloton.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/4_zps4eea8af0.jpg

39km to go - Sprint
Strange to see sprint at the top of the hill. This time the points are heavily contested and Minguez beat Beyer and Van Niekerk. The gap reduced to 2'47'' by the hardly working EUC. But the high pace doesn't stop Firsanov(RVL) to attack.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/5_zpsc63bb969.jpg
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/6_zps885353aa.jpg

28km to go - KoM
This time real KoM sprint, Van Niekerk taking ahead of Minguez and Beyer. The gap its 1'27'' against Firsanov, who have another 2'04'' aginst the remains of the peloton. Remains i say because the peloton splitted to a lot of groups. None of the GC threats are dropped however.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/7_zpsbb6f4761.jpg

14km to go - Sprint
The sprint-hill creates a real chaos. The are riders all the way in the uphill road. Mate'(E1) creates a gap of 53'' to the former breakaway mates(E2), Firsanov(E3) coming fast 38'' later.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/8_zps3a71e050.jpg

Another 38'' later coming Izagirre(EUS), Peeters(EUC), Kessiakoff(AST) (E4). They have 37'' advantage from the De Gendt(VCD) and Ghita(ARG) duo (E5). Then a small 18'' to Evans(BMC) and Stromberg(IAM). 1'21'' later the 50 man peloton chasing.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/9_zpsa91ee74e.jpg

4km to go
The fast descent merged the three main chasing groups. But can they take off the 1'17'' gap of Mate' on the flat? Evans, De Gendt, Stromberg have around 1' from the chasers.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/10_zps14c6f9d6.jpg

Finish
Mate' takes it. Big day for Cofidis.
i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Jakab_Zoli/11_zps759bf76c.jpg

Who's coming 2nd? Izagirre(EUS) beating the long range attacker Firsanov(RVL). Kessiakoff(AST), Ghita(ARG) and Beyer(CSS) in 4-6. Peeters (EUC) retain the leader jersey in 10th place and as bonus taking all the jerseys. Evans(BMC) with a dissapointing 11th place. He clearly missed the right move.

Back to normality for us then. Evans really is terrible. Can't even get a top 5 against this field. smh Rolling Eyes

@The Hobbit, you do realise it wasn't a flat stage. It's a very hard hilly stage. Why would Modolo be any higher? Pfft

Big shout out has got to go to my fantastic team there today, helped me out as best they possibly can Smile I owe this great position to them!

On a slightly less PR sounding way... YES!!! Banana

Stromeon
Another meh result here... after an impressive podium from Cantwell on the opening stage I was expecting slightly more but the team's just content with mediocrity I suppose.
At least things are going better in Catalunya Grin
