Thanks a lot. Really appreciated. Next stage report maybe later tonight, otherwise tomorrow.

Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg - Stage 5
Mersch - Luxembourg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-1.jpg
The last stage isn`t that hard to change a lot in the overall. So we expect a sprint finish with Farrar being the top favourite. But more important for us is to keep the leader jersey with Boom after his brilliant stage win yesterday.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-2.jpg
Just 4 riders in the break. None of them is really a big danger for the overall with more than 10min back.
Thill (Differdange), Markus (Rabobank CT), Van Den Bossche (Verandas) and Willam (Ceramica).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-3.jpg
Later Charteau (Europcar) is trying to jump to them wit hstill 80km to go. He is just 2'26 to Boom and so we have to do something.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-4.jpg
Duggan with his usual work as on every stage so far. He did a lot to give Boom the chance of celebrating here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-5.jpg
With a few kilometers to go Van Der Velde stops for some reasons, We haven`t seen him crashing but obviously he is injured. The doc diagnoses a fracture hip later. Really bad luck for him. He will miss the team until end of July now. Luckily it won`t really affect his race schedule as he would have done a race break in the next weeks before starting again in Denmark and then in the Vuelta again. So hopefully he will be fully recovered then.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-6.jpg
On the final circuit the breakaway including Charteau now is caught and the sprinter teams position themselves in the first rows.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-7.jpg
Farrar has the perfect train with Maaskant and Boom doing a great job.
But also Kenny De Haes with Landbouwkredit, Mondory (Cofidis) and Lotto`s Petacchi are in good positions.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Lux-5-8.jpg
Tyler Farrar is the strongest and takes the stage win. Mondory and De Haes are coming next ahead of overall winner Lars Boom. Also Maaskant was able to sprint on the 5th ahead of the next big group.
This was a very successful race for us winning the overall and points jersey with Boom and 3 of 5 stages. Hopefully we can continue like this in the next big races.

Excellent results! Well done!

Thanks all.

@ anonymer: Maaskant was indeed very good, too. Also Farrar and Van Der Velde were close to the top 10 but losing on the 4th stage after lots of work.
@ BikeRoel: Farrar had much luck in the Giro, where he wasn`t able to sprint in half of the flat stages. So the frustration about it might motivated him here. Wink
@ FreitasPCM: You were much more believing than I am actually. Well last year Rabon was a much better puncheur than all the riders in this group on stage 2. But with Swift, Roulston, Poels... there were some 70+ hill riders there, Haven`t expected to get rid of them, while Haedo (66) can stay.

I am waiting for the tour too Grin

I can imagine. It will be a totally different tour with lots of cobbles in your variant. vansummeren and Haussler can really looking forward to this spectacle.

After playing your Giro variant in 2011 it must be a nice variant although I have never tested it yet.

But before still Dauphinee, Suisse, Ster Elektrotoer, Zeeland and Nationals. ;(

The "Criterium du Dauphine" is the most important preparation for Le Tour next to the "Tour de Suisse". So many riders participating here and go for the overall will also be top 15 contenders within the Tour.
It normally leads over many mountains, so the winner is a climber or stage racer.
It was first held in 1947. Record champions with 3 wins each are Nello Lauredi, Luis Ocaña, Charly Mottet and Bernard Hinault.

In 2012 it`s quite rare that the Tour de Suisse is much harder than this race. So we expect most climbers in Switzerland, while the time trial specialists should prepare here for the Tour.

First three were totally dominating in the mountains. So Hesjedal was the best of the rest and had a good preparation for the Tour, where he finished 12th.
With Di Gregorio and Coppel two French riders in the top 10. Something they really want to improve in one of their home races.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-team.jpg
Jakob Fuglsang is our leader here and also the co leader next months. Haussler, who will be our main sprinter in July is here for training. He won`t get many chances as the route is very hilly.

The startlist could be a bit harder actually. So Wiggins is the best mix of great climber and time trialist and the top favourite. Van Den Broeck might be the best climber, but with just one mountain top finish he needs some time there.
With Le Mevel, and Coppel the French riders have also good chances for better results.

I can imagine. It will be a totally different tour with lots of cobbles in your variant. vansummeren and Haussler can really looking forward to this spectacle.

After playing your Giro variant in 2011 it must be a nice variant although I have never tested it yet.

But before still Dauphinee, Suisse, Ster Elektrotoer, Zeeland and Nationals. ;(

Is the variant with a team time trial on cobbles? Uh, that one gave me a headache.

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 1
Evian-les-Bains Prologue
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-1.jpg
With 6km this prologue is quite long and also with a long uphill section. So it could be a first sign of the fitness level of most riders.
Fuglsang has no really big ambitions as he isn`T in form yet and still preparing for the Tour.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-2.jpg
Cancellara isn`t a race favourite as he will struggle on the mountain stage for sure, but definitely the biggest bet for today. And he takes the lead with an excellent time.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-3.jpg
Le Mevel won the race in 2010 and he wants a 2nd win here. A funny fact: His new Movistar team participates here with 8 French riders. This could motivate them a lot.
He is 49s slower than Cancellara but all riders so far lost almost have a minute at least and his advantage are the mountains.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-4.jpg
Saur`s Jerome Coppel ist the 2nd French hope here. He was in the top 10 last year but is focussing a top 5 this time.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-5.jpg
Fuglsang with a average ride. He will lose 39s to Cancellara but gaining some time on other favourites. Most important is his form being good next month.
10'38

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/06%20June/Dau-1-6.jpg
Van Den Broeck with a good ride for him. Same time than Fuglsang.

Wiggins is the 2nd best time trialist and climber in this race. So we expected a brilliant time by him. But he "just" finished 4th behind the very strong De Greef and Bouet with 30s to Cancellara. Still the best of all favourites and just 9s faster than Fuglsang.

@ shin0da_13: Indeed. Wink I think it`s a nice challenge for me. I will have some great cobbles rider, who could try to get the yellow jersey in the first week.

ricotero_uy
Excellent presentation of the Dauphine. Good luck with Fuglsang and with Haussler preparation.

Anonymer
wow, Cance really dominated this one, 24sec on 6km is a lot, Fuglsangs result is ok, he didn't loose much time, Cancellara probably won't be a gc threat
