If your euro trip suddenly finds its way to Australia I’m sure that can be considered greatly growing your ‘daily map’

Nowadays, there are some wonderful pieces of art promoting cycling events, but I find most of them to be bland and lacking personality. I have a mild (sometimes greater) nostalgia for old posters, even though some of them were not much to look at they still had personality and from my point of view they stand tall against the passing of time. The same goes for me with football's World Cup or the Super Bowl logo, the latter being absolutely awful of late.
There's a nice article on the matter here: https://cyclingtips.com/2023/02/the-a...n-posters/

One of my favorite sports documentaries is Next Goal Wins. Now I'm eagerly waiting to see Taika Waititi's movie based on that documentary, because based on the trailer it looks like fun.

I randomly signed in to post in the TdF thread, only to get distracted by noticing my account is almost 11 years old.
Then I got distracted by threads I posted, noticed an early january post that says Wiggins joined some british show in 2017 called "The Jump" where they go ski jumping.
Roglic started becoming a good GC rider in the one week stage races in 2017
Wiggins predicted Roglic getting good

Yooo! Belgians! I'm going to be in Bruges/Antwerp in early July for a few days. Anyone has any fun unique ideas on things to do, places to go - or even to attempt the rare Daily IRL interaction - please let me know.

Heading off today to finish my big cycling adventure this year - 3,110km ridden, 50km to go; from one end of Great Britain to the other. Just with twice as much riding of those who do LEJOG a bit more directly!

All done in memory of my Dad. Actual pictures of me doing it available here.
With 215km done this week already, it's also my excuse for not quite making the latest MG deadline
Anybody else been getting up to much cycling themselves this year?

Phenomenal. Congratulations on such a stupendous ride. You should feel proud of yourself, I'm sure your dad is as well. Lost mine a couple years ago too, and did an Everesting last year, but since then have mostly only commuted by bike to work, plua the odd 30 - 80km ride.
Would definitely love to do something as inspiring as that someday. Kudos and thanks for sharing!

So, Antwerp is beautiful, take a stroll in the South part of the city, to the South Park and next to the Scheldt river. North part of town has the MAS, a beautiful tower museum, you can go to the top for free and enjoy the view of Antwerp.
Bruges is beautiful but stacked with tourists and feels more like a theme park without the rides. Gorgeous city centre but small.
Ghent is where the real action is. In between those 2 cities but the best of both worlds. Amazing castle still standing, great city for foot traffic since cars are banned from most of the centre.
Aaaaand I just realised I'm a year too late. Hope you enjoyed your trip! |

Yeah, unfortunately the off-topic discussions have pretty much died here. Hard to believe we used to fill one of these every couple of months. Hope you're doing well!

Don’t think I can let the rare Ianbutler comment go with a comment hope your well mate!
Sad that these discussions don’t get the traction they used to though! Hopefully the traffic Daily used to get with this can come back

Hope you're doing well CrueTrue! You should be very proud of the community you built here—almost 20 years gone by, and Daily has outlasted a lot of similar forums. It's indescribable how much you've contributed to all of our lives.
Speaking of which, MG applications open in a couple of weeks, never to late to come back!

Hi! You're always welcome to stick around CT. Only 10 more posts until 30,000. Also missed that Ian stopped by. So much nostalgic.

I appreciate the kind words, but the 20 years remark made me feel exceptionally old
In terms of MG - if I felt I didn't have the time before, I'm not really sure how to describe the time I have available now. I had my first kid, a boy, a year ago, and he's basically killing me Maybe in about 18 years...

I might just have to reach the 30.000 mark - and then disappear for all eternity |
