Totally passive ride from Belkin, but we get points and keep our GC
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Good job by the boys defending Sammy´s podium, just too bad things we´re brought so much back together in the end...

Contador riding a smart race - only one more stage to go and he's got a decent buffer to Porte in second This race has been truly awesome for us!

Ollfardh, not sure if this should be in a PM (I could delete my post) but can I please have my countered goals soon, as I've noticed most others have had it for a while.

Sorry for the delay. But i had to spent a lot of work for the PCM.Daily Survivor Game this weekend so I had no time for the reports. Anyway, let's start with stage one of the Drieedaagse de Panne - Koksijde:
This is propably the hardest stage. Experts expect either a late attack by one of the favourites or someone out of a smaller group to win here.
*** Chavanel (OPQ), Van Avermaet (BMC) ***
** Hushovd (BMC) , Vanmarcke (BEL) , Roelandts (LTB) **
* Terpstra (OPQ), Khamphan (EUC), Flecha (VCD) , Verboven (EUS) *
191km to go: The race direcor officially starts the race.
189km to go: The first attack is from a rider from Vacansoleil but he stops at the pharmacie. Perhaps he needed some more medicaments...
170km to go: We have our BotD. It includes Lander (BMC), Giordani (VIN), Avery (CSS), De Vreese (TSV), Calabria (TNN), Chaofi (EUS) , Gomez (CJR), Wouters (VCD), Cerny (CCC) , Corbel (BSE) and Scheirlinchx (AJW).
144km to go: De Vreese wins the intermediate sprint ahead of Avery. The peleton is 7'49 behind.
127km: The peleton is 7'49 behind and now some teams are slowly raising the pace: These teams are Belkin, Europecar, Crelan and Astana.
102km: Lander wins the next intermediate sprint ahead of De Vreese.
101km: Lander leads the break into the first cobbled passage.
98km: A few members of the front group are struggling when Scheirlinchx makes the pace. Especially Gomez, Giordani, Corbel & Calabria have problems. They need 5km to get back. When the peleton reaches tne same section it is crelan who sets the pace. (With help of Belkin) This forces a split with Van Drenthe (CJR), Bos (BEL), Guardini (AST) & Napolitano on the wrong side of it.
93km: But it is not decisive as a short descent brings them back.
72km: Over the next pave section it is Scheirlinchx who leads the break. Only Lander and De Vreese can follow. When he realize that he waits for the others. Does he know that he will not their help?
50km: Belkin is the team which sets the incredible pace now. The gap to the break is already down to 2'45''
29km: Scheirlinchx goes solo on the last pave section. Nobody is able to follow him.
Vanmarcke (BEL) leads the pack over the cobblestones. He can already see the front guys.
25km to go: Leukemans(VCD) attacks while only 57 riders could remain in the peleton. Most prominent rider back is Andre Greipel.
23km: Vanmarcke brings him back.
17km: Leukemans tries it again. This time Hushovd follows him but Guarnieri (AST) brings him back almost immediatly.
14km: They worked hard all day for this one attack. Boom (BEL) makes his move with Hushovd and Leukemans on his wheel.
12km: Khamse Khamphan (EUC) could not follow anymore and he has no team mates around any more as all Thurau, Gaudin, Di Silvestro, Pichot, Turgot and Chavanel stay at the front.
11km: The attack of Boom & Co. wan't successful. ONly Scheirlinchx remains ahead of the 44-men peleton. (+31''
10km: Leukeman tries it again. Chavanel, Boom and Hushovd stay on his rear wheel but he gives up early.
9km: Hushovd goes solo on the descent and closes the gap to Scheirlinchx and overpasses him.
6km: Scheirlinchx is caught while Hushovd has still 16'' to Trentin (OPQ) who leads the peleton.
5km: Hushovd is caught
2600m: Hushovd starts the sprint early hust like Se.Chavanel (EUC) or Kocjan (EUS)
1500m: Verboven is coming fast from behind. He surpasses Hushovd. Boom is the one next to him.
650m: Chavanel is in the best position now. Can he hold the speed against Vanmarcke and Phinney who seems to flyin' from behind.
Finish:
No. Talyor Phinney takes the stage win.
The results:
1 Taylor Phinney (BMC)
2 Sylvain Chavanel (OPQ)
3 Greg Van Avermaet (BMC)

Great win for BMC, saving the best for last.
Good to see Di Silvestro hanging on to the peloton. |
